Loved this site. Compost toilets were great and there was a river very close by to bathe in. Freshly filtered spring water to drink. Fire pits between pitches. Dogs welcome and there is a dog walking field. Eco friendly. A real back to nature and relaxing camping experience.
To entertain the children are rope swings in trees near the river.
Walk to the nearest pub was ok and they did good value and varied choice of meals.

Wookey Farm is a welcoming and comfortable little site with the best camping toilets you're likely to come across. It has a farm shop with local produce and all of the pitches are separated by colourful areas of wildflowers and saplings. There is an area for bonfires, which affords a nice relaxing environment to watch the sun go down. The Ring O Bells pub is 0. 5 miles away up the lane and has a reasonable range of ales and meals. The highlight are the compost toilets which have been well-crafted and set-up. No smell, all the home comforts, a shelf full of books, information sheets on local walks and a notice board to peruse the farm shop produce. There are no showers here but if you're happy to rough it a little and get away from the hustle, this works.

Brilliant week-end on this site. No showers, 3 toilets, one is a porta loo and two are compost toilets. They are really good, with hand basins and towels provided. The whole site is natural, massive pitches with campfire spaces. Wood can be bought on site.
Village is about a 10 minute walk and has a pub. Didn't try it but has good reviews from other campers.
The owners keep goats and some other animals and Sarah makes and sells a mean Goat Tagine. Its gorgeous! We bought one and had it when we came home. They sell a few other items but its not a convenience store, and as there is no shop in the village you need to bring everything with you,
Unless you have a car.
Some lovely walks in the area.
Will be returning to this site, its proper camping and that's what we love!
Oh, and the price is amazing. Not many sites left that charge realistic prices, but this one does!

Amazing camp site. So peaceful and quiet had a very relaxing time. The owners are friendly and laid back, the site is very well set out with lots of room between each pitch. Very clean and tidy, was nervouse about the compost loo, but it was fine. Went to see the goats being milked cuddled the babies which had just been born. Our dogs had the time of their lives running around the fields. The local pub is about 10mins walk and the food was amazing. We will be coming back soon. If you want a relaxing time with beautiful countryside this is the place to go

We have just returned from this sweet little site.
As other reviewers have said the pitches are very well spaced with lovely natural areas between them where individual camp fire pits are located.
We had no problems at all with the approach road.
A main attraction is the goat barn where our 3 children spent ages watching the baby kids being born. The farmer is the friendliest, most laid back bloke ever (he has young kids himself) and was quite happy to let them bottle feed the goats.
The children also loved the rope swings and the river, I imagine this would be a big hit in the summer months but for us it was a bit too cold for paddling!
The new long drop composting toilets are not as scary as they sound, perfectly safe and didn't smell at all.
We visited Cheddar gorge and followed the walk available from the NT shop. Glastonbury Abbey (well worth the £16 family admission fee), the medieval festival at Glastonbury. We climbed the Tor, and popped into the free museum of Somerset life in Glastonbury (highly recommended) also visited Wells cathedral.
We loved this site and would return.

The 2 of us stayed here for 3 nights in our campervan 'Vera'. This is a small site with friendly owners. We had no children with us so did not take advantage of checking out the animals.
The cost was only £10 with electric hook-up.
The site is flat with defined pitches, these are divided by shrubs and longer grasses which we thought was a lovely idea - so natural. It was also nice that the owners encouraged camp fires in designated areas.
Recycling was top of the list and I found this brilliant as we recycle most of our waste one way or another at home. The owners also made this easy for those not so au fait with recycling by providing bins to the side of each pitch. I thought it great that they also recycled food waste.
The big down-side was the fact that there was only one toilet, this was a portable loo which appeared to use recycled waste water as a flush. It really smelled bad and I was thankful for our toilet in the campervan. Other toilets are in the process of being built. Regarding the portable loo, I feel that it would be nice to maybe have some sort of fencing dividing it from the actual pitches as it is an eyesore in an otherwise natural looking site.
There were facilities to dump your waste, fresh drinking water, recycled water to clean waste holders and a washing up station with a bowl. No hot water is available but that was not a huge problem.
In the portable loo the owners took the time to leave laminated copies of a walk that they had devised. We went on the walk and the directions were correct to the letter (they are as good as the directions to the site). We popped into the first pub on the walk, this appeared to cater for the 'older generation' and was very quiet with little atmosphere. We ended up at the second one called the Ring O' Bells which was a typical country pub with very friendly staff and locals - we returned there the following day for a great Sunday lunch which was reasonably priced and yummy! We also walked along the longest and deepest ford in England and I took many impressive photos along the way. As we returned to the site, we found the rope swings and my partner went back to his childhood, had a swing and promptly fell off as the wooden hand hold snapped - make sure you check the swing is safe before allowing the kids to use it (I did have a chuckle though).
Would we return? Yes for short stays only as I would need to shower at some stage! We would use this site to get away from the rat race for a few days peace and quiet - although it is very basic it is cheap.

We like Wookey Farm! In fact we double like it and then we like it a lot more!
For us it's the ideal small farm site. Laid back, simple and uncomplicated. We like the fact that the owners are friendly, charmingly unobtrusive and have impeccable eco-credentials. And we really like the fact that everything has a an artisan feel to it! If you want geometrically perfect but architecturally dreary facilities, hard-standings and leisure facilities more sophisticated than a big field to lark about in and a brook with a rope swing then maybe you should be looking elsewhere. But then (sadly) you'd miss out on the spacious pitches separated by rough grass, ready made fireplaces and outstanding value!
Owners of touring vans and motorhomes can certainly get the very best from sites like this - take your own toilet and shower and revel in the simple, uncomplicated life and surroundings.
Wookey Farm may not however be such a good idea for those who might be a bit precious about their van's paintwork. The short lane down from the village IS narrow, and potholed, and muddy when wet, and you'd better be good at reversing if you meet someone else towing coming the other way! However it's so quiet the chances are that you'll only ever meet someone from the local farming community and it's well known that they make most caravan owners look a bit daft when it comes to manoeuvring anyway. The slope to get out can get a bit cut up too if it slings it down with rain for any length of time so 4x4 owners will have an easier time in such circumstances than those who's towcars only have drive to two wheels.
So will we be going back? Yes we will! Mainly because we didn't get round to trying the village pub (a short walk away and which we are assured is super dog-friendly) and because we only managed to skip through glorious Glastonbury. And most of all because we really like Wookey Farm. Did we say that already? Yes I think we did

spent 4 nights here and had a great time. Two addults and a 7 year old. Very friendly welcome and the friendliness was reflected in the other campers.
Great site for kids as children use there imaginations to create games together. Very peaceful and relaxing, well apart from sounds of children playing but that was nice to hear.
Great location. Very clean and tidy.
Hot water would be a bonus. Only one toilet on site but not a problem at all
Highly recommend and will definitely visit again

As one review says could be better signed at night took a while before we found it.
Toilet was clean and tidy and lots of space between you and the next tent very quiet.
Child friendly pub 10mins away by foot lot's of walk's and half an hour drive away from beach.

This campsite is an absolute find. As other reviewers have pointed out, it is very much 'the good life'.
Pitches are very well maintained and the location could not be better - fantastic night sky - wish we'd had the weather to light the campfire!
Dogs welcome, which is nice, and the kids were kept entertained by the animals on site - in particular the goat kids, which we got to bottle feed - a week old and gorgeous.
The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Eggs freshly laid by their own hens - who could ask for more? Not us and at ten pounds per night we will be making a lot of use of this gem of a site.
No showers as yet and just a portable loo but this didn't bother us in the slightest. Our children, four and six, were kept well entertained on the rope swings. Can't wait to go back. Location handy for Street, Glastonbury and Wells. Wookey has a pub which we haven't tried yet, but I'm sure we'll get round to it!
