As it was my sons tenth birthday we decided to take him and his brothers to hayling island fair. My wife and I decided we would make a weekend of it so we took the caravan and booked into fleet farm.
On arrival at 8. 30 pm in the dark! the warden showed us to our pitch (he is very helpful)
On Saturday morning I went on my usual look about (as you do) and the first thing that came to mind was Carry on Camping.
The toilet block is rather outdated but it was clean (ish) and some of the cubicles had no toilet paper in them.
There are caravans on the camping/touring field that have been there for years with decking around them and welsh dressers in the awnings! And some were actually on blocks with the wheels removed, the awnings on some were covered in seagull poo and the vans were green with algae.
This really detracts from what could be a fantastic site, as it is right next to a creek and is amongst mature oak trees.
There are some nice pubs a short walk away that serve food and there are various takeaways that will deliver to the site.
Hayling fair has some really good and scary rides now, and they do arm bands that cost £10 from 11am till 5pm or £5 from 6pm till 9pm for unlimited rides, really good value if you go out of season when its not busy.
The site has a small kids play area that consist of 1 baby swing/a normal swing/small slide and a climbing frame.
The site is ideally situated for trips to chichester / goodwood racecourse / gunwharf quays in portsmouth / southsea sea front.
I would use this site again as I found its little oddities amusing and it will take large family groups as long as they behave.

Warden: Readily available on arrival and lives on site.
Pitch: Flat but seemed a bit random. 4 Electric points all together in the middle of the field and so leads running across field which could have been a problem if we had children with us.
Toilet block: Shabby is the one word I would use to describe them. I think 4 showers and toilets in the ladies. Plenty of hot water. The rest of my comments are negative: the floor was never brushed or mopped in the 4 days we were there, the block itself had some superficial cleaning on our 4th day but that left a lot to be desired, even the mop bucket which you use to clean the shower after you've used it was filled with dirty water and had no clean smell to it, one of the toilet seats had come off and on the final morning only one toilet had toilet roll.
We easily visited Portsmouth and Chichester by car and walked to the main beach at Hayling Island, although some might find it a bit too far, but there is a bus service available.
The site in general is far from the best I have stayed at and there is a general feeling of clutter as caravans are stored on the site and they look very shabby and give a built up feeling to the field. I do not think this site should be advertised as a camping site; it is a caravan site which takes tents.
There is road noise too.
I though that for £22 which we paid, I would get better as I have done at other sites.
I'll be going back to Dorset again next time!

Basic site. Chatty considerate staff.
Showers hot, toilets clean, basic.
We had four families of friends staying together and were sited in an area where we had a lot of privacy as a group, which was perfect.
The site also has a number of static caravans and they are mostly in a very poor state, this detracted from the overall site as they just made the place look shabby.
The creek coming into the site is beautiful when the tide is in, need to be careful with children when tide is out due to all the mud that is easy to get stuck in (found this out the hard way!).
Nice walks around creek and fields.

This is a quiet site. The warden is very friendly and helpful. The toilet/shower block is basic but clean,
The camping area is surrounded with mature oak trees which means it is noisy when windy and blocks any satellite tv signal,
The site is farther from shops and entertainment than listed.
The yew tree pub still in 2012 does not take card payments
The on site play area is very very basic
The site drains well which was useful as it hammered down for 2 of the 3 days we were there
But over all a good camp site and would use again in the future

We made a last minute visit to the site and were bitterly disappointed.
The location is nice, on the edge of an area of outstanding natural beauty and with a small creek right into the site. That is where the virtues end, however.
The ground is very stony so we had to keep shifting the tent to find somewhere for the pegs.
The bathrooms are extremely basic, just a bare-brick shed with plastic roof panels. This would be fine if they were clean but they looked completely uncared for and we never once saw anybody cleaning them. They lacked the little touches that show somebody has put some thought in, like hooks for towels or shelves for your toothbrush. One evening, all bar one cubicle had run out of loo roll.
A couple of people commented that the owner tries to maximise income without really investing in the business and this comes across.
I have stayed at sites costing half the price of Fleet farm with better facilities.
Sadly, we won't be back.

A very pleasant site, facilities are basic but very clean, Warden was welcoming and the site is quiet. Well placed for two nice pubs and these are a short distance away.
The pitch was level and even though it rained hard there were no puddles to speak of. The site is within easy reach of the main Hayling shops and the sea front can be reached easily by car in 15 mins.
Overall we recommend this site it is family friendly with basic but good swings and play area for children. The site is surrounded by trees and some lovely walks can be had. We shall return

Just love the friendliness and at home feel of this place. yes, you share shower rooms and toilets, but its a camp site!
They were kept clean. There are many local places to go, a local pub for an easy stagger home. I could live here 24/7.
The Management/Staff are friendly and helpful.
I can not fault this site. It is was it is! If you want pools and a club house and shop then stay at a hotel. It is simple and perfect. It is camping. I loved it here.

We've just come back from a few days at this campsite and found it to be great.
The only downside was the price. We were charged for a large tent (it is quite big!), the awning/canopy and the trailer so it ended up being £29 a night.
We were shown our pitch before we paid because it had been really wet the week before we arrived and it was still a bit damp. But as we have a bathtub groundsheet we didn't find it a problem. There were quite a few puddles around the site due to the severe weather but the kids ran around with wellies on and were quite happy. The play park consists of a swing, slide and climbing frame so doesn't keep the kids amused for long but with so much to do around the island we weren't there much.
The toilets and showers are very basic but adequate, clean and with lots of hot water.
There are only three sinks for washing up but we were there on a bank holiday and never had to wait long for a space.
The campsite is on the edge of a tidal creek and there is a launch for boats at high water. The kids also enjoyed swimming and paddling in the creek.
There is no shop on site but you don't have to travel far to find a large Co-op or Sainsburys Local (Mengham). Also in Mengham is Hayling Fisheries (Not open Mondays) He does a range of locally caught fish, perfect for the BBQ!
Stoke farm shop is more or less opposite the Yew Tree pub and has a supply of eggs, veg, meat and ice-cream.
The nearest large Sainsburys is in Farlington, 10 mins drive.
The kids loved visiting the fun fair which runs a token system or you can buy a wrist band which gives them unlimited rides for a certain amount of time.
The beach is great although it is very stoney. I can recommend taking/buying beach shoes which can be bought from several shops on the island.
There is plenty of parking along the sea front, you need to get there early to get a space in the £2 all day car park.
If you want to eat out then the Barley Mow does a cheap carvery Mon - Sat. Even the Sunday price is not bad considering what you get.
Elliots chip shop in Eastoke is quite good too.
There is a 'gym' on the beach at Eastoke which the kids enjoyed.
Hayling Seaside Railway runs along the seafront between Eastoke and the Beachlands Fun Fair. It is a narrow gauge railway and is very popular with the kids.
If you need camping supplies/accessories then Chichester Caravans is not far away or there is a large 'Go Outdoors' in Southampton. There is also a Calor Gas depot just around the corner from Go Outdoors.
West Quay Shopping Centre is worth a visit if you are this way. Loads of shops and places to eat. MMmmm, Dream Cup Cakes!
Anyway I've rambled on enough, we had a lovely relaxing holiday here and we will be going back.

We love this site!
The toilet blocks are very basic but are always clean and tidy. The cleaner does not clean at peak times in the day.
We have been coming to this site for the past 3 years and always enjoy our visit each time. The ground can be a bit rocky but if you have the right pegs this shouldn't be a problem. The ground is also a little uneven but we have never found this a major problem.
The site has no shop but at reception they sell ice creams and there is a play area on site.
We usually park next to the creek and enjoy catching crabs and occasionally a few fish. Which is great for the kids.
Some times in the rain, the uneven ground can cause a few puddles in your awning but nothing major.
We find the site fills up fast on bank holidays and half-term time. However, when the site reaches full capacity, the warden does not put tents here and there to make more money.
The site warden is very friendly and is always there to lend a helping hand.
The location is perfect with only a short drive to beaches and a small but fun theme park with cheap prices. Easy parking all year round at only £2.
To conclude we love this site and will be visiting again soon. Well done fleet farm.

Just home from spending the bank holiday w/end at this site. The tent area is set among trees near (but not too) The shower block, which are pretty basic but very clean with ample hot water.
There is no shop on site to speak of but a supermarket (tesco) and various takeaways are all within a few minutes drive. (ask for directions).
If a couple of pints and a very nice meal from a good menu is to your liking, there is a public house 100 yds away that will satisfy your needs very well.
Overall the site is well situated with a long and very clean (pebble) beach 5 mins away, to which there is ample cheap parking (£2 all day) and a cafe serving everything from tea&toast to a full cooked dinner. Also a small but well equipped amusement park.
It is also well placed for visits to Portsmouth, Historical navy yards. (well worth a visit)
So overall all if you require a no fuss, well priced site in this area, look no further.
