On arrival down a pleasant tree lined track to the farmhouse, the owners invited us to look round and choose our own spot from the three main fields available. We chose a spot in a corner, well separated from other tents. The campsite feels spacious, and unregimented - this is essentially an agricultural field with a shower and toilet block in the corner - ideal if you are after a peaceful rural get away. Beautiful horses look over the fence, watching your every move, and hens scurry around. Some of the field has a considerable slope, but it is possible to find a reasonably level part. There are trees around parts of the field, but not a lot of shade. It is an easy walk into the forest and there is plenty to explore nearby.
Toilets and showers were a bit dated but functional and scrupulously clean. It appears there are new facilities under construction. The washing up area is under cover, and has hot water and detergent provided.
There is some noise from nearby roads, and a cockerel may start crowing early in the morning however only the ultra sensitive would find this a problem and the overall atmosphere is very peaceful.
In summary this is a basic site which is perfect for self sufficient couples, groups or families. Good value and recommended!

Very nice site.
Facilities basic but clean and tidy.
2 large fields for camping in.
One seemed to be for large groups and the other for groups of one's and two's which suited us.
Plenty of attractions in the locality Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves etc and plenty of walks.
Close to Simmond's Yat.
Parking costs at some of the attractions are a bit high.
Coleford(nearest town) has stores and chip shops etc. Parking very cheap.
Always someone on site to help out.
£6 per night and £10 with electric hook up you just cannot complain.

Approximately 40 of us descended on Rushmere Farm over the May bank holiday. The site was large enough to handle us and indeed many many more. The field we were in was slightly sloped but plenty of flat, level spaces for everyone. The price was the thing that blew us away. Only £6 per person per night!
The farm is close to a fairly busy road but it wasn't so loud that we couldn't sleep. The showering/toileting facilities were basic but clean and they are in the process of building a new log cabin style shower block which will look great when it's complete.
The owners were super friendly and let us leave our tent today out while we went kayaking at Symmonds Yat. When we returned we had a lazy picnic and eventually put the tent down.
If you're happy with a basic, clean friendly campsite then this one is for you!

Stayed here during August Bank Holiday. Was supposed to stay 3 nights but gave up after 2.
There just aren't enough facilities to cope at peak times. The facilities are basic but if it was quiet and dry weather, this wouldn't be a problem.
The owners ask that you use their bbq's but the group next to us decided to use 2 disposable bbq's and sat them directly on the grass - this didn't go down very well with the owner and fair enough too. What I liked about this was the knowledge that they live on site and keep an eye out for what's going on.
The actual site itself is pretty big and ideally located for walks in the FoD.
If I can give one piece of advice - if you're going to stay at this site and you've got a tent pitch with EHU - stay away from Pitch 2. You are right next to the bins and the water point. I can't begin to tell you how annoying it was having to listen to glass bottles smashing in to the bins late at night and then really early in the morning. Then you've got a constant drip of people coming to refil their water bottles, jugs etc.
On the plus side, this is a lovely area.

Slightly sloping pitches with bumpy ground in places. Toilet/shower facilities in portable cabins but very clean, although showers are dated and push button style.
The site is between 2 busy roads and traffic noise sometimes spoilt the peace. We used this site as a base for walking in the forest of dean and although we drove to particular spots to start the walks, there were walks from the campsite. T
he owners are very friendly and although no dog run on site they showed us which of their fields were empty so we could give the dog time off the lead.
Very close to Coleford which has a nice chippy and good shops.
