Just returned from a 2 week break at Rowlands Wait. The facilities are good, more than enough sinks in the pot wash, didn't have to wait for a shower and always plenty of free hot water. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, even shuffling bookings for us so that the disabled facilities were more accessible. Disabled/family shower room is on key only access which makes it a little less busy but you only have the key to one of the two shower rooms which means if the other one is empty you still can't get in, would be better if they were both on the same key. Site has a quiet after 10pm rule and this is enforced as a party were asked to leave while we were there for repeated noise on two nights. Our tent pitch was on a bit of a slope but it wasn't too bad and the hook up was close by although we were offered a free extension if we needed it. The children's play area is a little rickety but our two children loved playing in a little section of woods that divides the site and there's plenty of room for them to ride their bikes. Overall a good site and we will be returning there in the future.

Just returned from a nine night stay at Rowlands Wait. What an absolutely fantastic site! We were two families with four children between us.
The site was immaculate and pitches were a good size. The only down side was that ours was on a slight slope so had to pitch carefully and due to being in a wooded area the ground was hard in places so bring some heavy duty pegs!
The site was divided into little alcove areas and fields some with electric and some not. Although it was August the site was not busy I have no idea why, perhaps because it is a little inland and not on the coast.
The potwash area was always clean as were the toilets and showers. They must have a toilet roll fairy there as these never ran out! The showers were modern and hot and there was never a queue.
The owners are always on hand and very vigilant (no speeding!) and helpful.
There is a small children's play area and games room but the surrounding woods are fantastic for the kids to explore and build dens. There is a wealth of rabbits, foxes and wildlife around too.
Be aware that there are no lights at night which is fantastic for star gazing but you definitely need a torch for the toilets!
We found this a great base to explore Dorset - with beaches only a 15-20 min drive away and there is so much to do around the area we could have filled another week.
We will definitely be back, as this is one of the best sites we have ever stayed at.

Just arrived home from a 12 day holiday at Rowlands Wait caravan site, and was so blown away by the experience I had to send a review straight away,
The owners are amazingly friendly and there at all times if needed,
The site has fantastic dog walks through quiet and safe woods and is situated in the middle of all the Dorset attractions ( ten mins away from monkey world),
The site is clean and well maintained showers hot and clean.
We will definitely be returning to this perfect site as soon as possible as there is still so much to see and do.

This campsite is in a lovely untouched location with a choice of pitches, if you don't require electric hook up. All the fields were very well kept and mowed regularly.
The toilet/shower block is well lit and cleaned everyday - the water is very hot, with hairdryers that require 10p pieces. These also worked perfectly. Take a torch for late night visits to the toilet if you decide to pitch in 'five trees' as we did as there is no lighting in the fields and paths in that area.
The on site shop was open early until 6pm, with the usual supplies for sale. The owners were always there to offer advice and recommendations. They were also happy to charge my teenage daughters phone for a small donation to the plant fund. A very friendly and approachable couple. There are an abundance of wild rabbits and a play area for the children, with plenty of room for cycling.
During our five day stay, we visited Corfe Castle, Lulworth cove, Monkey world (10 minutes away by car)and the tank museum (also very nearby). There are two pubs within walking distance across the field, be sure to get there well before 9pm if you want dinner!
We liked The Drax for good food, service and ambience. I highly recommend Rowlands Wait and will certainly be returning again soon, great value for money! Thanks Stevie and Ivor for a great stay!

Me and my family of 2 adults and 2 children one girl 6 years and one boy 10 years had a great time at Rowland’s Wait Touring Park this July/August 2012. All the staff were friendly and helpful right from the start when arriving on site.
The pitching area was well maintained in both none electric fields and the toilet and shower blocks were maintained to a very high standard.
Just 3 days into are holiday I had an accident playing football which needed a hospital visit but the staff were helpful and understanding due to me being on crutches for the rest of the 2 week holiday. Camping on crutches is difficult at the best of times but was made easier with the help from the staff and the great disabled showers.
The site is large enough for the kids to have some freedom and explore but small enough that they feel safe. The shop was well stocked and reasonably priced and there is a variety of children’s items at pocket money prices.
The site is very welcoming and we would recommend to anyone wanting a great family holiday.

We first visited this site in April 2011 and couldn't wait to come back. We asked for a pitch at the front of the site to take advantage of the lovely views.
The site is easy to find and access. The welcome is friendly and helpful. The facilities are modern and kept extremely clean. They are situated towards the middle of the site so no-one is too far away.
Our planned visit of 7 days was extended to 12 days as we had car trouble. The site owners were extremely helpful and found a mechanic on site amongst the seasonal pitches. They really couldn't do anything more for us than they did.
The main attraction for the site is, for me, the fantastic dog walks available from the site entrance. Plenty of woods and open land to let our Dalmatian explore without having to be on a lead.
The site is also great for exploring Dorset. It takes about 20 minutes to reach Corfe Castle and 10 minutes to shop in Wareham. The village of Bere Regis boasts not one, but two brilliant pubs, one of which made us extremely welcome to their pub quiz. Both serve good, reasonably priced meals.
I would not hesitate to recommend this friendly, well run site to couples and young families. We will definitely be back!

We stayed here Easter weekend and we all had a lovely time. The site was quite small so not too busy which was nice.
You had plenty of room on your pitch. We went for a lovely long walk through the heath and woods that surrounds the site.
The kids enjoyed playing in the woods and some deer walked passed them which they were over the moon about.
The little play park did the trick for the youngest child.
The shop was well stocked, the showers were lovely and warm and powerful too.
We will definitely return.

This is one of our favourite campsites. The owners are really welcoming. The excellent facilities are clean and you don't have to pay for the powerful showers or even queue! The walks around the campsite are stunning and it is really great location with lots of things to do just a short distance from the site.
Our kids (11 and 7) had a fantastic time exploring the woods and playing on the rope swings and we all enjoyed a lush walk to The Royal Oak Pub on Sunday afternoon. Lush!
We will definitely be back!

Lovely small campsite. Pitches are of a good size, fairly level and appear to be well drained. The grass appears to be kept in good condition.
Staff were very welcoming on arrival with a small shop on site with the reception. Great for letting the kids run free and they loved the rope swing located towards the back of the site.
Washing and toilet facilities are modern and clean with plenty of hotwater. Plenty to do around with the Purbecks (Swanage, Corfe Castle) plus Weymouth and Dorchester all a short drive away.
Weymouth beach has a great sandy beach plus the Swanage steam railway is always a must. Tank museum is a great action day out. We only stayed for a long weekend but will definitely return.

A beautifully kept site. Acres of undulating fields, separated by hedges, so there's plenty of space and privacy (if it's not too busy). The shower and toilet blocks were always kept clean and the owners of the site plus other staff that we encountered were really nice, friendly and keen to help when they could. They made us feel extremely welcome. There are also some lovely walks a few minutes stroll from the site and the owners were able to supply maps to help with directions, etc.
The only negative point is that aside from there being a fairly small play park for the kids, there was little else for them to do, apart from make their own fun, i. E. Cricket, football, etc. However, the site location is close enough to Studland, Swanage, Corfe castle, Monkey World etc. , that for us, this didn't present too much of a problem as we were away from the site for the majority of the day.
Overall though, I would recommend this site for it's friendly staff and owners. Plus its convenient location for visiting some great tourist spots plus the overall cleanliness of the site.
