We really liked this site. The pitches were spacious and level, the facilities were good (I like the fact that the showers were not push button controlled). The Baby & Toddler room, complete with bath and mini loo, was a bonus too.
Location is excellent as it is just a short walk to the Swanage Steam Railway. It is a single track road getting to the site though, and it was further along the track than I expected.
We would return to this site.

Super site, with excellent hot water and water pressure, clean and tidy the whole time we were there. Never found a problem with queueing for showers but maybe that's because we use them later in the evening. The site itself is on two levels, made up of mainly hardstanding and some grass.
Children do tend to use the road as a scooter or bike run, but as there is only a grass field and no actual play park this is understandable.
The site is right on the Purbeck Way so walkers will enjoy the site. We literally parked our van up and didn't use it until we went home on Monday. We walked into Swanage and back via a different route - take the map, some sign posts are missing. We also walked to Corfe Castle and back by two different routes and to Worth Matravers. Swanage is lovely as is Corfe, the train is super and only a short walk from the site. In the height of summer there is a late train if you wish to go into Swanage or Corfe. We took the train to Corfe at 5. 30 had something to eat and walked back, about 2 miles.
Surrounding area is really something special, we only live about 45 minutes from the site and have enjoyed many days out in the area. Can recommend Durlston Country Park, Studland Beach, Fort Henry/Harry Rocks, the Banks Arms at Studland for pub food, although not the cheapest. The model villge tea room is dog friendly outside and in. The Nat Trust cafe is dog friendly in the back garden. The Bankes Arms at Studland and The Bankes Arms (both the same name) are both dog friendly inside and out, the Corfe one has lovely garden for the kids.
The big shopping centre at Poole not far away and also Poole Quay worth a visit. Wareham nice town and good for a wander and even a boat trip. Swanage has a lot to offer both for entertainment and food.
The site shop is good and all in all this is a great site. Access not too bad, although passing places in parts and a bit narrow if you approach slowly you will be fine, no matter what you are towing.
Child friendliness marked down as no facilities in park which would have kept them off the road around the site a bit more.

After several tries over the years we finally got a pitch on this little gem of a site. The wardens are very helpful and friendly and work hard to keep the site in tip top condition. Most of the pitches are generous but I was glad we were able to stay on the top level as the pitches under the trees looked a bit gloomy.
Excellent showers, although a little on the small side. I was glad I took my extra 'door hook' with me to hang clothes on. The force of the hot shower was amazing and only needed to be used on half power. My husband complained that someone persisted in smoking in the gents toilets and made it unpleasant for other users, and some drivers seemed to find it hard to find first gear and use the 5mph speed limit!
The area is nicely central to beaches, towns, museums and country parks. The local roads were easy to use even with our motorhome, otherwise we usually bus although on this occasion the nearby steam trains were great fun to use. You can buy tickets in the reception. I can highly recommend this site.

We stayed at this site during the Jubilee week, we had travelled 250miles and we were looking forward to seeing the area. We were not disappointed, although the weather let us down badly, the site was very pleasant, clean and tidy with spacious pitches some of them elevated with partial views.
There is a massive play area and a good dog walk. The steam train to Corfe Castle and Swanage is just a short walk down the road, just even to stand on the bridge and watch the train go by was a delight.
Others have said that there is a garage and shop nearby and there are plenty of places to eat around and about.
I am sorry to have to put across some negative points but they have to be said.
One thing that lets the site down are the showers and toilets, they are not up to the usual caravan club standards and I think they are well over due for a refurb. Most of the time, whatever time of day the floor was always wet with water made by condensation, it dripped from the pipes above on to your head whilst using the toilet.
The other thing I didn't like was children group together and use the road around the site as a race track on their scooters and bikes. Because the road is a continuous oval and has some quite big dips in it enables them to travel at speed, we thought it was both noisy and dangerous. The wardens must be ok with this because the road goes right by their caravan and office.
I would maybe visit the site again pitching in a different area away from the road, perhaps in the grassy area.

Stayed 4 nights over Easter. Arrived late on Thursday and only a handful of pitches left. We had a choice of a hard standing or grass pitch and chose a grass pitch in a small secluded area at the top of the site where there's space for 5 units in total.
Usual CC standard, large pitches, nice showers (although a queue of 1 or 2 people at peak times). There was apparently a problem with tepid water when we were there but I thought everything was absolutely fine.
Good for dog owners as the on site walk is circular, takes about 20 mins and is great.
We've got older kids (13&9) so didn't use the onside play areas. There's a real mix of children's ages so easy for friends.
Surrounding area is lovely. A short walk to a steam railway station where you can get to swanage and corfe castle. Probably a 2 mile x-country walk to get to the castle if you fancy it.
The access road feels a bit daunting first time but it's shorter than it feels and there's plenty of passing places.
Wardens nice and helpful.
Lots to do out and about (corfe castle, lulworth cove, durdle door, lots of pubs). Nearest supermarkets are in swanage and wareham, both about 10-15 min drive away. There's an on site shop but other than ice creams for the kids, we didn't use it.
All and all, a great site in a great location - thoroughly recommended and would visit again.

Visited this lovely little site at the end of the october heatwave in what turned out to be a gorgeous week. Apart from a few very windy nights which resulted in our taking the awning down,
This site is a little gem. Very quiet, lovely large hard standings, clean & warm toilet block & gorgeous views towards swanage.
The upper level gets all the sun this time of year, the lower level pitches against the trees, do not.
Lots to do in the area, we visited corfe castle, lulworth cove & durdle door, old harry rocks in studland & a great coast walk towards swanage. Monkey world & weymouth which we hadn't been to before & a lovely portland bill watching the sea crashing in.
Swanage is a nice typical seaside town, the country park at durleston is worth a visit for its walks.
Kingston lacy is a good day out with fantastic walks & gardens. Had a lovely meal at the halfway house near wareham.
Can highly recommend this site.

Have just returned from a week at Haycraft Caravan Club site and I can only say good things about it.
The wardens are nice and friendly, the toilets & shower block were very clean, with powerful showers.
The hard standings are large in size and the site itself was very well maintained.
Although the road to the site is a single lane road with passing points, its not overly busy.
The site is within walking distance of Corfe Castle and there are many other walks around the area, a map is available to buy at site reception.
We would certainly recommend this site, but worth booking ahead as always seems fully booked.

Beautiful, friendly site situated within easy walking distance of the Swanage Steam Railway. The railway goes down into Swanage which has a great sea front, amusements, quaint shops and lovely country park.
Travel the other way to the historic village of Corfe Castle to spend a few hours visiting the castle itself, looking in the shops or eating at one of the many pubs/tea rooms. There is also a model village at Corfe which is worth a look. There are plenty of places to eat within a short drive of the site.
The site itself is super, plenty of hardstanding and electric, wonderful super clean facilities (heated if necessary), great washing up area and lovely location. The views are gorgeous, there is a great doggy walking area and footpaths lead over the Purbecks from the site itself.
There is a kids play area and everywhere on site is well kept and tidy with mowed grass and flower beds. We were greeted with a huge smile and introduction to the site. I would highly recommend this site - please book in advance as it is very popular, it was full when we visited early October which tells you something.

Decided to phone this site at 5.30pm on a Sat evening from Middle Beach car park, Studland, having headed off on a whim that morning. Caught the wardens just before they closed the office who, after a little rummaging, confirmed they did have a pitch for one night.
We arrived an hour later, after having stocked up in the Co-op in Swanage. There were just 3 pitches left. Very popular site and easy to see why. Well-spaced hard standings, nicely kept grass, the usual super-tidy CC refuse areas, water points and waste water disposal areas. The motorhome service point is on a slope and it meant our tank emptied at break-neck speed!
Nice dog walk area for the yellow lab. There is a small gate at the top of the dog walk open field with a footpath that runs along the back of the site and then turns right over a stile, behind the back of a house where a Purbeck stone carver works. Fascinating looking through all of his work at 6am (pooch doesn't understand lie-ins!) laid out in the garden. He also has an honesty table with plants out on the lane (you pass it on the approach to the site). And the magical sight of a very small foal (2-3 weeks old?) sticking very close to Mum as we walked past - set me up for a great day!
Super clean, warm toilet/shower block. 3 large sinks outside under cover for washing up. Small shop with essentials, including a good selection of maps. Recommend the locally produced one with Swanage and Purbeck walks. Also a small wooden hut brimming with local info which is open all the time, night and day. Great site, will return again as we love the Isle of Purbeck.

Our biggest regret staying at this site was that we were only there for one night. The service, the facilities, the pitch were all spot on. The view over the countryside to the sea in the distance was awesome. The approach is via a lane so caution is needed. At the bottom of the lane is a petrol station and shop which can be used for supplies! About half a mile away from the site is a station for the steam train that takes you into Swanage. We went for the ride which was very enjoyable. Would I return? Oh yes cant wait!
