Would agree with most previous comments although unfortunately during our visit toilet block seemed under pressure: showers often luke warm and for a couple of days one shower in male toilet block out of action (leaving just two for 50 plus pitches). This was remedied by a local contractor later on. This is a shame as other CC sites are much better even under peak season pressures. Site itself well kept and the wardens did appear to be working hard to maintain the site at a busy time of year. The wardens were polite and business-like. Not having a play area isn’t a concern as the well kept play field is very big.
Some pitches are better than others and although there is a restriction on outfit length, it is worth noting that some pitches are on the shorter side in length and parking a car in front doesn’t leave much room. However, there are sensible spaces between each outfit so it doesn’t feel hemmed in.
Location is great: Studland Bay has nice beaches, Swanage is traditional seaside town and doesn’t have a run down feel that is found in some UK resorts. Train is fun for children although a little pricey, several attractions locally for children (Farmer Palmers and Monkey World for example, which are worth considering). Corfe Castle a nice day out. Worth joining National Trust if staying for a couple of weeks and you plan to go to Studland Bay very often.
Overall quite a good site but would be made even better if the site infrastructure was a bit more resilient at peak times.

We stayed on this small peaceful site for a week. When you arrive, if the wardens are busy, they leave a peg board on the office door showing which pitches are available. You select your pitch and then remove the peg number for the pitch you have chosen. The site is on 2 levels and if you have problems with mobility or hauling water/waste/toilet cassette to services you are best advised to select the lower level. The toilet block is fine with lovely hot showers and is cleaned daily.
It is a mile walk down to the steam train station (longer uphill on the way back!) and you can travel either to Corfe Castle or Swanage in the opposite direction. The fare was £5.50 return per person. The station in Swanage is right by the bus stop from where you can use your over 60's pass and travel by bus as far as Bournemouth if you wish.It is a lovely trip all along the Studland peninsula and over on the car ferry to Poole and beyond. Swanage is a lovely traditional English sea side resort with striped deck chairs, Punch and Judy show and a pier which you have to pay to walk to! There is a selection of cafe's,pubs and shops including a Co-op supermarket. To access a shop from the site you have to go by car down to the Spar attached to the Texaco garage they are well stocked and you can buy most essentials there.
Places we enjoyed visiting were Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour (red squirrels with blond tails can be seen there and there is an Enid Blyton connection to the island),Tyneham Village(only open at weekends due to army manoeuvres) Moreton Church to see the Whistler etched windows, We had a good afternoon tea in the tea room at Moreton Village in a building which used to be the school house. Laurence of Arabia house and grave is worth a visit. Dorchester where the menfolk enjoyed a pint of 'Piddle' at the local pub and a visit to Wellworths for old times sake.We also had a good time at Wimborne where they had a jazz festival and lots of fun and activities including a parade through the town. Corfe Castle should be saved for a warm dry day as some of the stones are very slippy when climbing over the ruins. We really enjoyed our time in lovely Dorset and hope you do as well. NB Watch out for army tanks whose drivers have L plates around the area!

We stayed at this site for 1 week in June 2009. We found that it is a lovely site, nestling in the Purbeck Hills, in a very quiet country lane and very peaceful, The plots are very generous and well spaced, (just 53 pitches) on level ground, with good lighting, water, electricity and TV hook-up. There are some nice gravel pitches and some secluded grass pitches, which look lovely.
We were seriously delayed and arrived very late, long after reception had closed, but the staff were still on hand, very pleasant, helpful and accommodating.
We found the facilities to be superb. Very clean and up to the usual standard that you would expect from a Caravan Club site, and then some! The shower block is one of the best and cleanest that we have experienced.
Reception sells certain essentials and there is a local spar and a local pub which serves excellent food, but there is also a very good choice of restaurants, shops and supermarkets etc. In the town of Swanage.
Situated in lovely countryside, close to a station for The Swanage Light Railway with a Steam Train service into Swanage. Swanage Town centre has a lovely sandy beach and is just 2.5 miles away, Studland Bay is 4.5 miles, and Corfe Castle just 2.5 miles. There are excellent cross country walking pathways and a good cycle route into the town of Swanage.
We will certainly visit this site again.

We only used this site for 1 night for a trip to Swanage but we wished we could have stayed longer. The site was nearly full but there was plenty of space between units and so peaceful. Not Having a playground wasn't an issue as there was a big field for the kids to run around in. The toilets and showers were immaculate and a good idea was the mop to clean up after yourself in the shower. The site is well placed for all local attractions too numerous to mention. On the whole an excellent site and extremely well run.

This is a lovely site. We had no problem getting a hard standing and the shower facilities were central to the site. The site is small and friendly. We have 2 small children and despite the fact that there was no play equipment - this did not stop them enjoying themselves. You can walk for miles directly from the campsite, our children loved waving to the steam engine as it passed us in the field! Great for dog walking and because the local walks are so accessible the dog walk on site is not so essential. Our children loved to feed the horses and goats in the farm next door and a baby calf had just been born.
We went to Monkey World for a day and found some lovely beaches locally, we took the car ferry across to Poole and found a lovely Country Park for the children.
A really peaceful site, excellent quality and a good location - would definitely recommend!

This is a beautiful site surrounded by farmland and woods which were full of bluebells and primroses when we stayed. In fact we extended our stay by one night. The facilities were excellent and although the site was full we didn't have to queue for showers.
There are lots of footpaths from the site (see this months CC magazine) and a lovely looking walk to Corfe Castle about 2 miles away through the fields. The steam railway is a few minutes walk away although it is a bit of a puff (!)climbing up the hill back to the site. Swanage is very close by and well worth a visit,as is Monkey World, Studland Bay and the Tank Museum. There are buses but not very frequent from Harmans Cross on the main road. The roads are fairly narrow so watch out if you have a large unit. To be honest there wasn't any downside to this site for me although no children's play equipment may be a problem for some. There is big playing field though. I was very sad to leave and hope to be back soon, maybe in October for the Swanage Blues Festival.

Great site, only 54 pitches with great views,in a very quiet spot. The steam train can be seen and heard from the campsite. Lots to see and do. Swanage 'the parade' fish and chip restaurant serves great fish and chips also the Italian Tratoria is a must but book to make sure you get in. Studland beaches very good as sandy. If not a member join the National Trust as there are lots of these places in Dorset and you get in for free and to park. The campsite was spotless usual CC standard. No kids play equipment but a great field which they all played well in. Nice friendly wardens. All in all a great site for touring Dorset.

Nice quiet site situated away from main road. Adequate dog walk although they can't run off the lead as there are cows nearby. We prefer a fenced off field where you can see who else is in there before you enter (Moreton in Marsh has an excellent one).
The pitches are very long but not very wide, so if you have an awning your car has to be parked along the front of your caravan. They are mainly hardstandings but they are really level.
Toilet block always clean but could do with general maintenance and a bit of updating, compared to other cc sites they were quite old.
You can catch the steam train about 1/2 mile form site into Swanage or you can walk to the castle also from the site.
There is a Spar and Londis shop within 1 mile from the site and they stay open until 10pm.

Compact CC site with centrally placed toilet block. Site is on 2 levels but pitches are mainly flat. Facilities are of usual good CC standard. Site is quiet as it is well away from the main road. Plenty to see and do in the area. Steam trains run on the adjacent railway line.

I have only recently found this website and wished to leave a review for this site which we visited as Caravan Club Members last year. The wardens were friendly and very helpful and kept this site wonderfully clean and tidy. The toilet block was spotless and the family bathroom with baby bath was an excellent idea, although we didn't need to use it. If only all sites were this good! Will definitely be returning to this site.
