Elan Oaks is in a beautiful area.
The campsite itself cannot be faulted, fab location and 5 star facilities.
However!, the owner was abrupt and unwelcoming on our arrival and that, for us, is a huge put off. He volunteered no information whatsoever.
We will not be returning.

I've stayed at this site a couple of times now, both as part of a group of females and with family to camp without EHU.
The newly added facilities are fabulous and always very clean, and I've always felt safe at this site whoever I'm travelling with. Showers are warm, and there's plenty of sinks and mirrors to get ready by with plug sockets to use a hairdryer even if camping without EHU on your pitch.
The river runs through the site, which is stunning however I'd recommend pitching away from the river edge to avoid insect unless you have citronella and the likes to hand.
The site is dog friendly but always clean and I've never been bothered by loose dogs on site, they've always been well behaved.
Automatic confirmations with access codes don't always come through when you book, so you may need to call the site to obtain these, but this is an issue the site are aware of and are looking into.
Location is ideal for visiting Elan Valley and the reservoirs/damns with a village a short drive away with shops, pubs and a great chip shop.
I'll certainly be returning (and like I say, already have)

Site set in stunning scenery along side the river.
Cycle track runs by the site to all the dams, and into Rhayader.
Hardstanding pitch with EHU own water and tv hookup.
One of the best toilet blocks I have seen (it is new)!
Joe very helpful
Truly a beautiful site in a beautiful location.
Will be back.

A hidden gem, this is a developing site with new facilities blocks well on there way, however the fully service pitch we had was well maintained and spacious.
The site staff were excellent and happy to chat. It was a quiet site set in an excellent location for us to Cycle and walk.
The Elan Valley is a very pretty location so well worth the camping fees for the ease of access to the beautiful surroundings and we will return.

3rd time at this site. Great location for walking and cycling and not touristy.
Hardstanding pitches with all services make it nice and easy.
Some expansion so should be some more facilities for those who need them.
Hope it doesn’t get too big !

Great site and location.
Will definitely go back.
Had a hard standing with own water and grey waste. Nice facilities though more toilets would be useful. New block currently being built.
Perfect spot for the beautiful Elan Valley.

Quiet, beautiful setting. However for the campers there was only two porta loos, which were very unpleasant to use. There was cold water sinks with no shelter to wash your dishes.
There was 3 wet rooms geared up for the motorhomes and caravaners. They were inadequate for campers, being situated much further away for the campers and limited. We cut our holiday short because of this.
Not worth £20 per night.

Much has been covered by the other reviews but using the showers at 7am presented no problem as they were very clean and there was no waiting.
If the weather is right, them the scenery is absolutely stunning especially if you go off piste.

Set in beautiful countryside but we found this to be a strange site. Firstly there is no reception/office so no meet and greet and no one to give you the essential codes for the laundry/washing up area or wet rooms, this is not made clear on the website or when the booking was made.
Thankfully they do give you the barrier code, we didn't actually realise the true significance of this until we arrived! Find your own pitch, no information available upon arrival we got all of our info from other people staying on the site.
There are just three unisex wet rooms, no toilet block, shower's plumbing not adequate, showers can be very hot or very cold, temp fluctuates. This arrangement is far from satisfactory, a separate set of toilets are needed this is a big site.
Hard standing pitches need a bit of maintenance, our pitch had lots of grass and weeds on it and the gravel was turning to dust. We were also treated, until the very early hours of the morning, the camping fields version of Glastonbury but no one on site so nothing could be done about it.
We did have, we believe, the owner of the site and his friends on the opposite pitches to us (funnily enough), unfortunately they did not adhere to the sites terms and conditions.
There was a motorhome, one car, one motorcycle, one caravan and two large vans on the two pitches, they were certainly not parked far enough away from each other if you read their terms and conditions in fact the caravan wasn't even uncoupled from the van that towed it there, not good and not at all safe for anyone.
The views and location couldn't be better but sadly for what you pay the site could be a lot better.
Saying all this the guy that comes in the evening to check on things etc was very helpful and friendly.
