Excellent campsite, located just 15 minutes from the M5 and provided us with a good base to explore the coast line from Exmouth to Lyme Regis.
Children loved the play ground, and our pitch over looking it worked out fantastically for us. There was a generator sound from the new toilet block which woke us a couple of times on our first night but got accustomed to it.
The toilet/ shower block is quite new, and was very comfortable. No need to pay for any of the water which is always a plus.
There was a regular staff presence on site, which showed in the fact looked well maintained. Everyone one we dealt with was very friendly and helpful.
Bistro on site was an added bonus, providing good food on site at a reasonable price. We had a take away an enjoyed a meal in the open air outside our camper.
Another area ticked off with a go to campsite.

A warm and friendly welcome awaiting our arrival at an excellent site. The shower block is probably the best I have seen anywhere, and due to most caravans being permanent was not heavily used. The Bistro and Bar on site served good food and an excellent pint of real Ale. The prices for both the weeks camp, and the food was very reasonable. I will certainly visit again. The site was awfully wet when we visited and was suffering with ankle deep mud. Help was at hand from the staff laying down boards where required. The only thing that would improve our pitch would be a path connecting the hard standing with the road. I guess this isn't such a problem in the summer!

This was a lovely, peaceful site and we had a nice view of the hills from our hard standing super serviced pitch.
It was really quiet, even though, over the weekend, there were children around. The toilet block was excellent and 'bang up to date', even though it was a little walk from our pitch, which we didn't mind too much.
As the site was a distance from any amenities, it would be great if the shop was much bigger!
Sadly, we couldn't use the local bus service - there wasn't any!
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Best of all, the price was incredible - we had a discount for our age and it gave us a lot of extra money for petrol etc.

My wife and I have just returned from a week long stay at Castle Brake caravan park. We have an Elldis Avante 505 tourer and were on a hardstanding pitch which incorporated mains electric, water tap and drain.
As we are over 50, we got a reduced rate of £70 for the week, which we thought was very good. The reception staff are all friendly and made us welcome on arrival.
The area had just had the worst rain for as long as they could remember, but the pitch was well drained. We were advised not to park on the grass if possible, to reduce damage, understandable in the circumstances.
Our pitch (pitch 2) was quite short and the caravan hitch was almost on the road, but that and the fact that the touring pitches with hardstandings were approximately 200 metres from the very well maintained toilet block, would be our only gripe.
The photo on the front of the brochure shows the toilet block surrounded by caravans. The majority of these are seasonal pitches. The grass touring field is much closer to the facilities.
The site is very easy to get to from the M5, is really quiet, the only noise coming from occasional vehicles using the lane behind the touring pitches to access the village of Woodbury.
It is approximately 4. 5 miles from the M5 to the turning by the 'Halfway Inn' which is something to bear in mind.
As the site is off the beaten track, you will need your car to get to anywhere, unless you are walkers or cyclists, which would make this an ideal site for exploring the area.
We enjoyed our stay very much despite the weather and would return, but choose a different pitch if available.

Great Site. Loved that the tents camping was separate to the caravans. Staff were really friendly and helpful and even suggested we checked out the pitch before we decided to pay due to the bad weather. The great service block warm well equipped, clean and loads of hot water. Had everything you needed, plus I love the fact there were baths. Nice to have a bar and was a really great atmosphere. We really loved this site but sadly have not been able to book in again at last minute. This is our fault but our jobs do dictate when we can get away. Fully recommend this site

Hadn't realised this site was part of a Haven / Hoseseasons site so there were lots of static caravans at the top end of the site and I'm not sure we would have chosen it if I had realised.
That said, we were in a small field at the bottom of the site in a grouping of 5 families (pleased the site could guarantee us all together). No gazebos allowed however.
The centre of the field was good for ball games. Play area for children was good and frequented by our bunch of 8 - 14 year olds.
Toilet block was clean and modern. Washing up area was fine but maybe a bit exposed if it had been raining.
The bistro cafe on site provided good food, but we went as a party of 20 and they couldn't cope with us all at the same time - one families food arrived 45 minutes before ours.
Overall - OK, might return.

We stayed (adults + children) for a long weekend at end of July. When we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff who assisted in getting us sited and settled in.
We were sited in a field that they have recently opened up which was previously used only for tents. The ground towards the end of this field is not suitable for touring vans as we soon found out as we could not pitch due to the troughs and holes in the field. We were offered assistance and moved to a lovely pitch in the same field though, very helpful staff (Neil/Amy)
Plentiful water supplies and no problems with ehu which are close to pitches.
Shower block was immaculate and clean and showers were fantastic. 3 sinks for washing up, laundrette and recycling facilities for waste.
They could do with metal bins dotted around the site for ash from bar-b-ques and fire pits, you see the remains of this slung in the hedgerow surrounding the site, which I find unsightly.
Easy to get pinned in if you're in a tourer and do not get a pitch next to the access road and pitches are 8m x 8m so even though we have a 26' tourer we still managed an awning and 2 annexe's.
The kids play park was very good and adequate for the kids, safe and with a gated access and fence around.
On the whole a lovely short stay with no issues, we would not hesitate to return but specify a pitch next to the kids play park next time as these were the most level and easiest to access.

This was our second visit to this site, having visited a few years ago and enjoyed our stay then very much.
Wow, what a nice surprise we had. Excellent brand new toilet/facilities block and a new field open for caravans and tents. We stayed in the field with electric hook up, but there were also hard standing and fully serviced pitches if you wanted. There is also a brilliant new play area for the children. Our pitch was large and spacious and at one point during our stay we were the only unit on the field - bliss.
The owners were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and the on site restaurant a must for visitors. This park is suitable for families, pets and couples (which we are) and if you happen to be of a certain age and can holiday outside of the school holidays, then this site is for you - an absolute bargain. We found the site to be the ideal location for visiting places like Lyme Regis, Datrmoor, Torbay and even Dartmouth and the fact that Exmouth with its lovely sandy beach is only a 10 minute drive away is great.
My only criticism (and it is hard to find any fault!) is to maybe sweep up the loose stones outside the toilet block that come off the roadway. I would wholeheartedly recommend this site to everyone. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

We stayed here on the May bank hol weekend and were very impressed with this site.
We were greeted at reception by a lovely lady who gave us some tourist info and not a big list of rules.
At reception there is a very small area selling basics eg Bread, milk, eggs, Bacon, newspapers etc.
We were one the furthest tents away from the amenity block as were one of the first to arrive but we still found the 1 min walk to the amenity block acceptable. Normally you can camp wherever but due to expecting more tents we had to camp in pitches chosen for us in lines, this meant there was a slight slope to our pitch but we pitched the tent to make sure we wouldn't roll off our beds and so it didn't matter! We still had loads of space.
The grass was freshly mown and well drained making it easy to sink the pegs.
Our 7 year old loved the play area but as others have said, it is not suitable for very young children as the climbing frame/ monkey bars are very high.
We found the campsite very quiet and mostly with families, even when it got busier with tents on the Saturday. We didn't find the road adjoining too busy, only a few cars from 6.30am. The main 'noise' (and it really wasn't a problem) was from the hungry sheep in a nearby field who were obviously hungry at 6.30am but that part of the country experience isn't it?!
The amenity block was spotless, warm and ultra modern with lighting in the shower block turning on when you enter and touch-free taps. The shower cubicles were very spacious with a place for our wash things and 2 hooks for towels and clothes. The showers were nice and hot.
The toilets had plenty of toilet roll.
The laundry room had 2 washing machines (£3.00)and 2 dryers (£1.00) and there were 2 ironing boards with irons. There was no plug socket in the ladies wash room but they had 2 hairdryers (20p) and there were sockets in the laundry room if you like your straightners (but no mirror!)
The bar/restaurant can get very busy on some nights and so its advisable to book a table in the evening. We had Fish and chips and it was tasty and reasonably priced at £7.99 including a free drink.
We visited Paignton Zoo on an overcast day which is 30 mins away and it was very good value, we were there for 5 hours.
All in all, this is a lovely base to explore South Devon and we will happily visit again.

First time camping with our new Montana 6 outfit. Tent field is sloping, has some flat areas towards the top and bottom of the field with a significant slope in between.
Only a few pitches have electrical hook-up available, ours was with no electric but we managed by making use of a car 12v to 240v converter for pumping the air bed up.
Shower block modern and clean with family bathroom areas and adequate for our stay. Good water pressure for showers.
Did not get chance to use on site Bistro but understand it is very good.
Very basic shop selling items such as milk, gas and papers.
An OK site for a first stay, would consider staying again but feel better sites are available.
