We spent New Year at Beal and it’s a great little site.
It’s been updated with modern showers etc.
Closest site for access to Holy Island. Views from the site are excellent.
Bothy Bar and cafe are lovely. Lindisfarne Inn, 20 minutes walk away, is also a great pub.

Fantastic site with great views overlooking holy island. The road can get a little busy depending on tide times. (Manuel) kept the showers toilets and area round the pitches spotless. Great location for exploring Northumberland coast.

One of the best situated sites in the UK!
A new site that has had plenty of money spent on it in a thoughtful way.
You can walk alongside the road to the start of the Holy Island causeway and you are behind a hedge, so out of the traffic. It is approx. 1 mile to the start of the causeway and then around 2. 5 miles into the village itself but unfortunately this part has to be shared with the traffic, which is generally very considerate of pedestrians. The site is dog friendly as is the ‘Bothy Bar’ offering good pub style food and a well-kept cask ale. The toilets/showers are new and professionally done with good attention to detail. Pitches are small but adequate and access onto the site is very easy. The whole site has large steel gates which are closed overnight and seems secure, with a key code to use the facilities. There is no dog walk on site, but the route to Holy Island starts just outside the gates and this is well surfaced with grass verges.
During the day the restaurant doubles as a café and there are many picnic benches on the patio with glorious views across to Lindisfarne.
The owners were happy for us to vacate pitches early and leave our vans in their large car park. It took around 1. 5 hours to walk from the site into Lindisfarne and then we took the shorter ‘Pilgrims Way’ path across the bay. Obviously you have to check the safe crossing times. We walked barefoot, as in places it was almost like quicksand and boots would have been soaked. The way is well marked with posts along the route and it’s fantastic to think you are following a route that’s been used for the best part of 2, 000 years!
A lovely atmospheric site with a magical location that we will certainly return to.

Lovely location with fantastic views from every pitch and excellent shower facilities. However, we would only visit in low season as we felt it would feel very claustrophobic if the site was full. The pitches are far too close to each other and you would struggle to get an awning up on most of them. Your pitch is allocated so if you want to face onto Lindisfarne ask for pitches 11-14. When we arrived on a Thursday afternoon the place was empty, so it was fabulous. However, on Friday afternoon another three units arrived and we were all allocated pitches alongside each other so were all on top of each other. There are 14 pitches in total and it would be much better if there were only 10, with more space between them. Or even if the layout was changed. The footprint is massive but all the pitches are crammed together with a huge space in the middle.
If this doesn't bother you then you'll be more than happy with the site as we had nothing else to complain about!

Spent a few days here. Lovely campsite with fab views (weather permitting). The Barn does lovely food but isn’t dog friendly. The Bothy Bar is but only open at weekends this time of year. It looks a lovely bar though. The site is spotless and the staff friendly. We will be back.

Spent a week here. The location is great - looking out over the causeway to Holy Island and it makes an ideal base for visiting the rest of the Northumberland coast / Berwick.
The site itself is relatively small - only space for a dozen tents - which we like. We had a good size pitch though with electric hookup and plenty of space around us even with a large tent. Some of the other pitches were much smaller and clearly aimed at small tents. Being on a slope the site is well drained, even though it rained all week and it was good that cars were not allowed on the camping field except to load / unload.
Having the restaurant / bar on site is convenient. We had a good meal one evening and it was nice to be able to grab a coffee / pint if needed. The down side of this is that the car park is busy with visitors during the day, and the toilet block / washing up facilities / children's play area are across the car park. Not ideal with a young family. It would have been nice if there was a bit more open space for the children to just run around or kick a ball.
The toilet block was clean and not too busy, although the shower cubicle design was not the best I've ever seen - hard not to get mud in the showers or water on your dry clothes.
The staff in the restaurant dealt with arrivals etc. They were very friendly and helpful, but there was not usually anyone actually on the campsite, and no-one around if you arrived late.

This is a really good site. Just don't book the same weekend as the Lindisfarne Festival as it will keep you awake until 2am with thudding music! I am going to ignore that for the review as unfair to the owners, who did sympathise with our plight and did help find a room somewhere for a family with young children who were finding the noise distressing.
The location is stunning with a superb view of Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle. Our tent pitch looked out over this. Indeed the tent spaces have the better view than the vans get.
Facilities were modern and well kept. All are behind keypads to ensure only campers have access. On site is a pub restaurant with posh dining and bar meals. We booked for tent and breakfast (at 09:00) which was served on the sunny terrace with view of the sea and Holy Island.
National Cycle Route 1 is right outside the front gate, off road parallel to the road to Holy Island. We were able to do an evening trip across the causeway as the tide was out.

Lovely site marvellous views over to Holy Island, lovely track down to the causeway which is scooter friendly except for when you first go to get through the gate coming of the road quiet a big drop from kerb. This is our 2nd visit they have enlarged it now have 14 motorhome/caravan sites lovely planted area in middle, looks as though they might be making some more improvements which hopefully will be separate toilets and shower curtains would not come a miss to stop drying area becoming wet. Would be nice if it was possible to have a walking map from the site as we noticed some people were walking down the farmers field and round and any other walks in the area, so you know the farmer would be alright with you on his land. Had a meal in the Bothy Bar 1st time we came very good this time we booked for the restaurant and had our own SCARLETT from am a celebrity get me out of here look alike, the staff were all very friendly and helpful hope to be back some time soon.

Stayed one night. I liked the choice of whether or not to have hookup; we did as it was a little chilly but wouldn't bother later in the year. (£10 deposit for key to unlock the ehu).
Hard standing was fine for our campervans, others were bigger and needed for motor homes with awnings. Staff helpful and explained that the gate is shut at night but not locked if we were going out. Shower block lovely and warm but fixed at an odd angle so it sprays the toilet area. There are also new showers which I didn't use.
We were there Saturday and booked a meal, restaurant is very popular and we saw 4or 5 lots of people turned away who hadn't booked, not just campers. Interesting menu and a friendly helpful waitress.
Easy to cycle to Lindisfarne and Berwick (on a cycle path).
Would certainly use again.

On arrival, I went into the restaurant to register, as instructed. I was asked to leave a £10. 00 deposit for the key to open the electric hook up which would be returned when I returned the key at the end of our 2 night stay. I was not given any information on what to do next or where any facilities were.
The 'campsite' is actually in a large car park where a bus drop off point is situated. The 'campsite' was used regularly by people in cars either turning around or parking up - 1 person stayed parked up for over 8 hours, just sitting in the car.
The hard standings were level but very small, we have a short wheel base van and only just fit on.
The fresh water tap is very close to the chemical disposal point and there is no hose on the chemical disposal point tap - this made cleaning the area extremely difficult.
The showers and toilets were clean, however, there is only one toilet / shower for women and 1 for men. The shower and toilet are in the same room which could be difficult when the site is busy. There was plenty of free hot water, a little too hot at times with no way of regulating the temperature. There was nowhere to put toiletries other than the floor and no shower curtain to prevent the water splashing through into the toilet area.
The worst part was that a bikers rally was being held in the barn next to the 'campsite' and they belted out heavy metal music from 8 pm until 1 am on both nights we were there - needless to say we didn't benefit from the peace and quite we had expected and sleep was rather difficult. If the owners had informed us of the rally at the time of booking or even upon arrival, we would not have booked or stayed. I would recommend anyone considering staying here to check in advance whether they are hosting a rally or concert - the noise was so loud we could hear it on the Causeway!
Overall, I feel £20. 00 per night is too much to pay for this site. I do not feel the owners have any real interest in their campsite or their camping guests.
The views of Holy Island were lovely, the cycle paths were good and we enjoyed some lovely coastal walks from the site. Coffee and cakes were acceptable but not great.
