This site is well located very close to the A30, the traffic noise was not really noticeable.
The shower and toilet facilities were good but a bit dated and a fair walk at the top end of the site.
The site has a mixture of hard standing and grass pitches and nearly all have EHU. There is also a tent area at the bottom end of the park
We were only staying for 1 night in June and there were only 2 other pitches in use. I really could not see why it was so underused as the value for money, location and facilities were all good.

A very nice site right on the edge of Dartmoor and near to the main A30 (slightly noisy and could be off putting to some).
Plenty of fairly flat good sized hard standings and many more grassy areas all with EHU.
Nice toilet and shower facilities at one end of a fairly long narrow site so quite a walk from the furthest pitches.
Water and disposal areas scattered along the site so no problem there.
A very nice dog and people walk at one end of the site using an old railway track as a foot / cycle path out onto the moors.

Just returned from our 4 night stay, used this site purely as a base while visiting relatives in Okehampton.
Friendly owners. A good quiet site that's lovely and clean, pitches ample sized. Good dog walking close by.
Shower block and surrounding area tired and shabby. Plenty of hot water available but shower cubicles sharing curtain between two strung up contraption! Not really good enough especially as all collapsed on one occasion. Heating in shower block was not on when we used the showers and considering it was a chilly weekend in April - made it very cold when getting dry! The area outside the shower blocks looks very uncared for - all in all these need modernising & tidying up.

Handy site travelling to or from Cornwall being just off the A30. As others have said nice, clean site with modern showers and good hardstanding pitches, also found the lady in reception to be somewhat vague. Okehampton can be cycled to or walked to using the cycle path at the bottom of the site, we walked there (about hour and a half) and caught the last bus back at 7pm which drops off not far from the site. The pub by the site entrance does nice food and a couple of real ales but only opens at weekends. Paid £16/night for two with ehu.

First time we used this site and it was just lovely.
Nice flat pitches, toilets and showers very clean and hot water!. Great place to stay or as we did just stopover.
There is a pub next door which did very good food at reasonable prices with nice friendly staff. Opening ours wer a bit confusing but luckily for us it was open when we arrived
Its is close to the main A30 which does give a little noise but not intrusive. Very reasonable rates. The people running the site were very, very helpful.
The site is very clean and well kept,

Great site for a stop over, travelling to or from Cornwall.
We stopped one night. Toilet block clean and tidy, did not use shower but they seemed to be very busy. Traffic noise not too intrusive.
Nice shop on site they took orders for newspapers. Pub next to site had odd hours so did not use, but there was another pub about a mile from site on a nice walk/cycle path so I was informed, a bit far for OH.
Would use again. Lovely flat pitches with electric hook up lovely barbecue area with chairs and tables well thought out.

Stayed here for 2 nights in June 2011. Emailed them beforehand but they said just to turn up which I did. There was just one other tent there but a few caravans and some motor homes. Ground was very level. There are pitches which are numbered and quite big.
At bottom end of field where tents were there was a portable loo but was closed but if its open in high season I don't know. The 'proper' toilet block is at other end of site but only a minutes walk or so.
In ladies toilets there were about 5 toilets and some showers. Free hot water and were all extremely clean and tidy. Hairdrer available for 20p. Nice soft toilet paper, paper hand towels and hand dryer
The owners have a chalet type caravan which doubles up as reception and small shop. They sell a few tinned goods and I think ice cream, milk etc. Also some paperbacks available to read (used ones what people leave I guess)
The whole site had an air of tidiness about it.
Yes,as others have said the site is close to main road but the tent park is furthest away and also I think the fact that the road was busy always helped as then you just get a constant hum instead of a car every 5 minutes which for me I think would have been worse.
For once I didn't take my bike and cursed myself as the sustrans path runs literally at bottom of site. It was a scorchingly hot day so should have been very pleasant. There is bike hire available though I think next door.
There were handy water points and the bin area was very well contained and clean. I saw a sign for chemical toilet area but as I don't have one I didn't investigate.
No amenities such as play area, club house etc but there is a pub next door which also serves food but isn't noisy.
I will certainly go back again.

The lady who booked us in at this site was very helpful. The site itself was very tidy, the showers and toilets were very clean and warm, very important as I get older.
When we arrived we asked about the Pub next door, which is mentioned in other reviews, but she didn't know if it was open or not, bit strange as it backs onto the site. Quite disappointed to find it was only open on Friday and Saturday night and Sunday lunch time, as we stayed in the week not much help!
Found the noise from the A30 quite intrusive, but the Granite trail into Okehampton is not to be missed.

Stayed here in October as newcomers to Motorhoming! What a lovely introduction!
Nice quiet site, level pitches. Not much on it but beautiful clean shower block with hot showers and all mod cons, even a hairdryer. Had a code to use the shower/toilet block which I thought was a really good idea. Close to the busy road so a little traffic noise but didn't disturb our sleep. Didnt use the shop but nice to know it was there. Lady in Reception efficient but didn't seem particularly friendly / helpful - might have been having an off day! Can't fault the facilities though, we will definitely be back. Maybe we can get to know the staff a little better next time! Would definitely recommend.

Just come back from 5 fantastic days at downshay farm. This campsite has lots of room in two huge fields so you will never feel squashed in.
Your pitch fee is collected every morning by the very friendly owner.
There is a van that comes around every morning selling almost everything.
You can choose where ever you want to pitch.
It is family friendly but quiet, there is a small area that is a natural kids play zone, rope tyre swings and branches to climb on.
Very very clean toilet and shower blocks one being new, washing up areas with free hot water, loo roll and even washing up liquid.
Within 10 mins walk down the lane there is the steam railway station and next door a newly built full free playground.
Downshay farm is within easy reach for all the local attractions being between corfe castle and swanage. The costs of the pitches are also cheap.
We will be returning for sure, highly recommended.
