We had a lovely weekend. The staff were very helpful to us newbies. The hire of the camp grill was a god send. The campsite was very roomy and full of little surprises for exploring. We felt very safe as the staff did their rounds at night checking everyone and everything was ok. The compost toilets were a surprise as they didn't smell. The toilets and showers were clean and functional. We will definitely go again. Thank you Paul.

Wonderful site, will be back and will bring friends.
Love the welcome and hospitality by Sid (site manager). Warm and friendly family atmosphere offered by him, and from Nick (part-owner), and from other campers.
Facilities are all great, more than happy, most of all the outdoor HOT showers are wonderful! Even the longdrop loos were very good except there should have been more bins/bigger bins in the longdrops/porta-cabin loos/showers as people were just leaving waste on the floor! Washing up station great.
We love open fires and Camping Unplugged encourage this experience. Didn't need to hire a camp fire grill, but the kit on offer was great. Camp shop is well stocked.
Site has loads of space, loads of sky (on the big field), loads of nature, very nice local pub (35mins walk away).
Worst bit - Only down side was the strict need to book and pay for the three nights over the bank holiday - we hope they drop this rule as the thing we like most about the Camping Unplugged sites is the relaxed and casual nature of their set-up, (this suits us as we only ever decide to go away a few nights before we do and we like to camp as a group, with members coming and going depending on their work schedules, minimum stays aren't convenient for us and discourage us from booking), so the restrictions and booking rules are a bit off-putting. Surely 'freedom' is what its all about?
Best bit - the outdoor showers; Sid and Nick; starry skies; camp fires; far enough, yet enough close location of the loos/showers/washing up/shop/bins/reception to all pitches; constant access to site manager for assistance or just a fab chat; FREE facilities - hot showers, loo roll, hot washing up station, all taps were drinking water; really nice pub.

It is basic but it appealed greatly to us, composting toilets are fine once you accept the concept and we didn't have issues with the showers. Ability to have your own camp fire makes this an authentic experience. We camped in the field but the woodland pitches, if your tent fits, seemed appealing as well. The guys who run the place add to the charm and despite the price (its not cheap considering the lack of facilities but I guess that's what you pay for?) this is a great camping experience, we stayed in a group which maybe helped make it more special and enjoyed a bushcraft talk, fire making class and woodland food foraging tour which were great for young and old alike. Agree with other reviewers that given the scale of facilities and ungraveled entrance track it might not be as good if it became too crowded but our stay was great.

A lovely site with a choice of pitches in and outside the woods. We had a pitch in the woods and it was fantastic - remote, atmospheric and peaceful.
The facilities are above average but perhaps a little sparse - never really had to wait long though.
The owners are very friendly and helpful, and generous with the wood for campfires.
There are some excellent walks in the surrounding area: Northington Grange is worth checking out, and the Woolpack Inn, at the time, served a very refreshing pint of ale tinged with ginger. Well worth the walk.

We stayed here at the end of may for just one night, two of us in two small tents.
The weather was a bit dodgy so decided at the last minute to take the gear off the motorbikes, and chuck it in the boot instead! A good move overall as the track to the site would've been impossible on anything other than a full blown motor crosser! Very muddy and slippery would be a understatement! So if the weather's been bad and you're going by bike, ringing in advance to check the access would be a good idea.
Overall we a pleasant stay, chilling in the woods with a few beers, campfire and a BBQ. The facilities are basic and limited, but clean. Not sure how it would be when the site is busy, but as it was very quiet when we were there we had no problems at all.
Would probably go back, but bit put off by the cost, as it's a bit pricey considering the (lack of)facilities, maybe it's a case of less for more. Still it's nice to have the peace and quiet of a woodland setting, with a fire to chill by!

We are seasoned campers and try out different sites at least twice a year - this place is definitely not for any 'glampers'. It markets itself as 'camping unplugged' and we would not disagree; there are no frills, only 2 proper toilets (and a couple of other compostable ones)and 2 showers for the whole site. Perhaps we were unfortunate but every time 2 of our members went down to the showers the water was cold (the others gave up trying).
We camped in the large meadow which provided plenty of space and it was very quiet. The highlight was being able to light a proper camp fire (which we needed over the weekend we were there).
The children enjoyed exploring the woods, making dens and using the rope swings. There is nothing else on site so they were forced to make their own entertainment.
The area was very pretty and we enjoyed several walks and pub lunches. Would go back to this area but not this site.

Stayed here for 2 nights September 20th, camping with my girlfriend who chose the site :0)
Large field to camp in, fantastic place and so peaceful.
The toilets and showers are new separate portacabins, don't be put off? as they are perfectly kept clean and the shower's superb.
You can buy logs from the owner which we thought were great value for money which allow you to have great camp fire's at night / day. You can use grates for cooking over the fire (which we didn't do on this occasion) next time.
Had a full walk around the site and woods, maybe next time camping in the woods?
New Alresford is a short car ride away with some fantastic pubs and shops.
The Watercress steam train line is a must even for non train anoraks! Like us. Great day out
Campsite = All in all. A great peaceful place to relax and unwind.
Will definitely be returning. Thanks Neal & Tanya

Brilliant w/e at Abbotstone with my daughter our dog. The site is accessed via a lane and is secluded with no noise from nearby minor road. Camping available in open field or in the woods. We chose the woods and in a spot under a large beech tree. During the evening it was well protected with no wind and it kept warm.
Great walking and good pub 1 mile away with friendly welcome and well kept beer. Facilities are good but limited in number. Not a problem for us on this occasion.
Nice walking area close to the Ox Drove and Wayfarer's national walks. Good local walks in the immediate area including one to derelict Northington Grange.
There is clearly good intent to make this an eco-friendly site and The warden gave really helpful advice about the right plots to stay on and also the local walks.

My son and I went camping at this site and found it to be perfect for our needs. There are some places to camp in the woods and a large open field with plenty of space to run around. There are no 'fixed' pitches, campfires are welcome and they sell wood on site for £10 for a large bag.
The facilities are brand new, well equipped clean and functional (portacabins), but look out of place in such lovely natural surroundings, so something more natural looking but equally as functional would be better. There is also a washing up stand, but no hot water at the sinks so you need to boil your own kettle and bring it down.
There is no children's play area, but plenty of sticks and woodlands to explore.
There is a pub called The Woolpack about 1 mile away easy to walk to that does some really nice food and there is also another pub with equally as good food in New Alresford (about 6 miles) called the Globe.
New Alresford has a couple of good butchers selling local meats and a fruit and veg shop, also a co-op mini market for all the essentials.
We had a great stay and will be back again before the season is out, it's definitely on the list for next year too.

Spent 3 nights here with my two kids in our campervan. The site was massively under-occupied with only three other families in the large field. This suited us and we had a great time and felt like we had the site to ourselves. The facilities are pretty basic, but clean. I'm not sure how well they would cope if the site was full though, but I guess they'll cross that bridge when they come to it. It was great to have open fires on site, my kids loved that. Although, the wood was expensive as others have said. I took to scavenging half burnt logs from the fires of campers that had just left. I would go back, but I'd hope that it wasn't going to get too busy or there might be quite a queue at the showers.
