Nice site, nice views, quite and nice dog walks around village, both pubs are good, this is about the 4th time we have been and will keeps going in 2016,
each pitch has own water tap and electric, site is not that level but good enough,
village is very nice and well worth a walk around, OAKHAM is also nice and has a good farmers market ( not sure how frequent)

After reading the excellent reviews we decided to give this site a go. We usually only book sites with facilities on and were a little sceptical about this.
We arrived early and called Bill the owner, as instructed when we booked. He came straight down to us and helped us pick our pitch.
He even towed our unit up a slight incline as we were struggling after a wet few days and soggy grass.
What an excellent choice we had a brilliant time, so peaceful, with only 5 pitches the only noise we had was from the surrounding wild life.
There were no times to arrive or leave so overall it was a really relaxing get away from it all weekend. We have booked again for August, cant wait

We stayed here in may for 3 nights and was blown away by the beautiful and tranquil surroundings.
There are 5 pitches each with its own water tap and electric hook up with a elsan waste point in the corner.
On arrival bill the owner made us really welcome and stayed until we were hooked up to make sure everything worked ok.
we were the only ones on the site for the first 2 nights and wow what a getaway to escape the stresses of life its so relaxing we could of easily have stayed all week.
Its so close to oakham and 5 minutes walk from Braunston village its ideally located.

Lovely little site with very friendly owners living about 200/300 yards down the road. We picked pitch No. 5 as it seemed to be the most level one and we only had to make a couple of adjustments when levelling. Vans are pitched along the road hedge and along the left hand side of the field. It's so quiet you can actually hear it lol. Only sound we heard were a few neighs from the horses. There is a resident badger but we didn't see it but we saw loads of rabbits and twice saw a fox. Not much traffic uses the road. You are only a couple of miles or so from Oakham with a Coop just before you reach the cross roads.
The toilet waste point was fine for my husband, tap and electric together with your pitch and TV reception great. Only one caravan pitched when we got there which only stayed a couple of nights and a camper turned up for one night with cycles attached as there was a cycle race that weekend.
Nice pub called The Plough where we had Sunday lunch. I had Slow Coked Lamb Henry with mint and red currant jelly gravy which melted in the mouth and my husband had three meat Sunday lunch. They were priced at £9. 95 each and although we didn't have any, there is pudding for £4. 95. We couldn't fit in a pud as they are rather large mains. I did spy a nice garden at the back but not sure of a play ground for children. There is a small play ground just up the road from the camp but you would have to take small children there as no pavement.
Oakham is not very big but there is a very nice castle which houses 100's of horse shoes and the museum is interesting too. There is a Tesco as you would expect cos they are everywhere, Wilkinsons, down Gaol Street the Best Bakery winner Hambletons I think it's called, may have got the spelling wrong. Quite a few independent shops which is a nice change from the norm. Melton Mowbray market is on a Tuesday which is very big with lovely, Stilton cheese and pork pies and cattle market with food and, bric, a brack. What we loved was the town is A vista of old buildings and planners make sure that any new ones are made blend in with the old ones.
Stamford is another example of old buildings and although we didn't make it to market day, I know this is a good one to visit.
All in all I can recommend this site and also the surrounding area.

The owners have recently opened up this campsite and are a delightful couple who welcomed us and helped us out significantly with our first caravanning experience. It's a quiet setting, approx 1.5M outside Oakham and forms an ideal base to explore Rutland Water and the surrounding Area.
We arrived to the site from the Braunston direction, which is slightly wider in approach than coming from the Oakham end of Brooke Rd. There is a hairpin in the road just past the sight where you do need to take care with oncoming traffic.
The 5 pitches are well spaced out and there is Electric hook up and a tap by each one. The facilities for toilet and waste disposal are newly installed and worked fine.
The real beauty of this site is the tranquil location. Whilst sat in the evening you can be entertained by the swallows performing their acrobatic flight display, you might see an occasional bat or an owl, the horses in the field next door make their presence known and the rabbits abound plentiful in the early morning and dusk hours. There are walks you can do in the surrounding area straight from the site and there's a children's playing field and a pub (the Old Plough) 10-15 mins walk from the site.
I wish them well with this venture and look forward to returning sometime next year. The sun shone for us and it was a lovely weekend.
