 Small 10 pitch site. All are hardstanding. No toilet block, but electric hook-up, water point, chemical disposal point. Peaceful and quiet, we had a number of birds on our feeder instantly on arrival. Birdsong all day long. (you can hear the windturbine across the field on a windy day going whoosh, but quite a nice sound! School nextdoor, so some noise during week, as we arrived it was Friday lunchtime) Keep an eye out for the bunnies!
Pub serves lovely food, good value pub food, sticky toffee pud is yum. We've eaten here twice now, nice warm welcome from owners and the fire! Cosy pub which also has a pool table, and hosts some music nights. Dogs allowed in beer garden.
Shop in village. Cranston's Butchers at the roundabout on A595 has lovely pies, bread, meats.
The village playground is just outside the entrance, as well as football field.
We head for Watchtree Nature reserve 5mins from site, turn right out of pub carpark. There is a host of wildlife to watch. Trails for the children to follow, as well as bikes available to hire. Spend at least half a day here. And a big plus for us its Dog friendly, on leads.
The site is close to Carlisle for castle and shopping, not far from Penrith or the Lake District.
Caravan site needs a bin, and 1 pitch holds water, I'm sure the owners will be sorting this, the sites not long been open. Hard stand is very hard needing very good rock pegs!
Would be 10/10 if pub was dog friendly inside!
