This is a lovely, peaceful campsite close to good walks and a cycle trail. The camping area itself is just a big field meaning that you can choose where you want to pitch and have lots of space. There are no electric hook ups. Facilities are basic and consist of two outdoor toilets and showers, plus a fridge and a washing up sink in a shed kind of construction. The showers were extremely hot - almost too hot actually!
This is a nice campsite if there is a group of you with kids as there's so much space for them to run around and create their own games. However I do think it's very expensive for what is essentially just a field: £10 an adult and £5 a child. I've stayed at some seriously luxurious sites for £30 a night! Having stayed in a field attached to a pub near to this site for £10 for the whole family I just don't feel that fontmills offers good value for money, which is a shame as it is a nice place.

A very friendly welcome at this new campsite. A mostly level camping field with two flushing toilets and two lovely warm push button showers; with plenty of space to change, and hooks to hang up all your stuff. Washing-up hut with a small fridge and freezer block section, plus local area info leaflets. Washing up liquid and shower gel a welcome extra. There's a spacious field with lots of room for ball games etc in the middle.
Its a working farm so young children should be accompanied when exploring outside the camping field. A lovely farm dog Floss visits throughout the day and there are lots of handsome sheep and fine horses to look at during your visit. Four new hens had just arrived and we were lucky enough to have them named after us - what a privilege! Look out for Pierre the partridge who wanders around the fields nearby.
A very relaxing couple of days away with helpful and informative chats with Steve and Nicola the owners, who pop round with fire pits and bags of logs.
Easy access to the Cuckoo Trail, cycle paths and endless public footpaths to explore the surrounding countryside.
What a joy to wake up to birdsong rather than our usual traffic noise. During the days we saw buzzards circling overhead and swallows swooping about catching insects in the evenings. All in all a relaxing few days leaving us feeling revitalised and we would love to go back soon!
