This place is just stunning, This is our second visit and won’t be the last by far,

Paul, His Family, And staff are the most friendly welcoming people you could ever wish to meet,

The Boat shack serves the finest quality food and drinks to suit everyone at really reasonable prices,

The facilities are spotless and everything exceeded our expectations,

This loving caring family even make time to rescue animals and provide them with a safe caring environment,

The views on site of the Derwent reservoir and surrounding hills are just perfect,

Very peaceful and quiet, The rules on site here mean everyone can expect a brilliant relaxing time without worrying who is gunna turn up next to you,

The only thing my wife and I dislike about this place is having to leave it to go home,

We can’t recommend this place enough to people who love a bit of quality in a beautiful place.

Lovely setting, very family orientated with the site quiet hours from 8pm.

The staff were very helpful, professional and family orientated in their approach and chatting to my son about the animals on site, which all have been rescued animals.

The site is well presented and clean, the food in the cafe was of high standard and the milkshakes have the approval from a 9 year old as exceptional.

Staff 10/10

Site 10/10

Food is 10/10

Very clean, tidy and quiet site with great views of the nearby Derwent Reservoir, all this with superb woodland walks which are well signposted.

To hear and see an abundance of curlew, lapwings and skylarks was an unexpected delight.

Will definitely return.

Made to feel very welcome by the owner Paul.

A lovely tranquil location with stunning views over Derwent Reservoir. Great for walks up onto the moors.

Site is on a slope so even with chocks it was difficult to get our campervan level.

Only 1 washing-up sink and 2 showers/toilets but it seemed to work okay because a lot of people were staying in caravans.

Also, no hand driers or paper towels in toilets. However, the site and facilities were spotless and well maintained.

Did not use the Boat Shack but it looked very nice.

Great views from this immaculately kept site. The cafe is amazing.

The owner is very attentive & proud of his site ( rightly so) Please don't think he is too in your face, I just found him a nice guy.

Access is good I have a large twin axle van.

The area has lots to see & explore.

I would definitely recommend this site.

Lovely site with wonderful views of the reservoir. Tidy compact toilet/ showers. We were the only ones on site at start of season midweek.

Site owner Paul was very accommodating, helpful and gave lots of information about site and surrounding areas.

As I say we were there before all amenities on site were open so we missed using the what will be now open to public. Large yurt with seating area where I'm told they have get togethers and singalongs.

Another area with large screen tv across from well stocked cafe. Lama's, sheep moorhens and pheasants among wildlife on site. Great walk around reservoir taking around 4 to 5 hours taking in plenty of wildlife.

We even managed to catch a RAF Nimrod flying low over the water. So even though we weren't able to use all amenities we had plenty to keep us occupied.

Paul has plans for more pitches so it's a growing site.

Lovely clean site with amazing views.

Toilet and showers were nice and clean. Really peaceful and fantastic for star gazing.

Limited opening times of the on site facilities cafe/bar.

Just one note if you take your dog then you have to sit outside as dogs mot allowed in the cafe or bar.

A bit on the disappointing side. On the good side Paul, the owner, was friendly and the view from the pitches was very attractive.

On the not-so-good side the pitches were small & some were sloping. Drinking water, chem disposal etc were fine but tucked away in a corner.

Showers/toilets were available on leaving a £10 refundable deposit.

Not particularly cheap at £30/night but situated in a lovely part of the country (Blanchland well worth a visit & lots of nice walks around there).
