We had a lovely holiday at this small site reached through a small gated track across a common. The friendly owners make sure that no one spoils the peace and quiet of this beautiful location. They have a system where they freeze ice packs for the campers, which was great. The toilets and showers were excellent.

The only slight downside is that the site is so popular, that people were arriving very early on our departure morning and were shouting and hovering over our pitches even before we'd woken up properly. It was rather a rude awakening. We will endeavour to come off peak and to be gone before the madding hoards arrive next year.

What a lovely campsite! Peace and tranquillity with a beautiful beach in walking distance as well. The campsite is very well positioned benefiting from easy access to the coastal path if you like walking, easy access to a lovely beach if you like swimming or surfing and within walking distance of Crantock village with a small shop, couple of pubs selling cask ales and reasonable food and if you like pasties then make sure you try the Crantock Bakery pasties sold at the post office.
We visited after the summer holidays and so there were only a handful of tents until the weekend. There are hot showers and toilets which were cleaned daily. You can exchange ice packs. The owners were very helpful. We realised we had travelled 260 miles and left tent pegs at home, arriving at 6.00ish gave us no chance to go to a camp shop, fortunately the owners managed to find some for us which saved our bacon and prevented much matrimonial bickering over who was responsible!

I would imagine in busy periods you would have to pick your moment to shower but I am sure this small disadvantage is very much outweighed by all other aspects of the campsite. I have to say this campsite is what camping is all about!

We visited the camp site the week before the bank holiday - yes it was busy, but had no trouble with accessing the limited facilities (2 showers, 2 washbasins, 3 loos!) The site is in a stunning location - excellent access to the beach at Porth Joke. Great for Boogie Boarding. Was actually swimming with seals one day in the bay! Fantastic walks around the headland to both Crantock beach, and Hollywell Bay too. Site is sheltered as it is in a valley. Only one downside, avoid the bank holiday weeks - the day we left, people were queuing to get on our pitch! The owners allow you to stay until 12 noon, but people were arriving at 9! If you have a low suspension car too you may have difficulty accessing the site as its down a track with a number of sandy pot holes! The pub at the top of the hill (the Bowgie) does excellent food, and you can walk from the site, although if you are not that able you may find the climb up the hill a bit much - but a pint at the end is well deserved! Would definitely go back!

This site is well off the beaten track (dead end gated road) and a short walk by footpath from the sheltered cove of Porth Joke. There is a National Trust car park for Cubert Common adjacent to it, apparently very popular with surfers in the summer as the beach cannot be reached any easier way.

We went just after the end of the school hols, and the site was very quiet (3 units max) - the owner informed us it was packed the week before, with 30+ tents. Bearing in mind the facilities (2 loos & 2 showers each for male and female, 2 washing up sinks) we felt that would probably be a bit too crowded. There's also a bath for washing wetsuits, and a place to leave /collect freezer packs.

The site consists of 2 linked fields, one closer to the facilities, flatter and more open, the other closer to the beach, uneven but more sheltered, with a little natural sandpit area in the centre. There are no official pitches marked out. Given the number of charred circles, there is no objection to campfires! We camped in an enticing little bay at the far end of the site, which proved to be well sheltered by the trees when a storm began to brew on the last night.

The beach is gorgeous - although again we only saw it when deserted! Walking over the common is easy to do, and the South West Coast Path runs around the headland and beyond in both directions. You could walk to Newquay no problem. There is a large beach to the south at Holywell Bay.

There is a little shop in Crantock village. Nearest main shops etc. Are at Newquay. There are a couple of pubs near the site but we didn't try them.

A lovely site, nice and quiet, with the beach a real bonus. Just not sure about it in peak season - but you can make your own choice.
