We absolutely loved our stay at Porth Joke. It was our second visit and was just as magical as the first.
Our children are a bit older now and made so many new friends and we found all the other campers really friendly and helpful. Very family friendly site.
We had planned to do lots more day trips but in the end we were all so happy walking to the beautiful porth joke beach just a stones throw away or relaxing back in the camp.
Will be returning again next year for longer.

Absolutely fantastic campsite, magical for the kids with the forest, river and beach so close.
Facilities are basic but good and very clean.
Everyone gets on with each other, a very harmonious and friendly camp!

A rough field. Porta-showers. Basic wc block. Not quite got to terms with COVID safety but working on it. Did not worry us as have all facilities on board.
Great location for beach.
A narrow sandy track, 10 min walk, everyone courteous and patient for passing safely.

Had a wonderful couple of days mid-week here. The facilities are modern and very clean, the owners are friendly and helpful and the location is fantastic. Situated well away from the hustle and bustle of the more popular/commercial resorts, this site lends itself to rest and relaxation. There is a small bar on site, a well stocked shop and home cooked takeaway meals. We sampled one of these one evening; I had lasagne and garlic bread and my husband had fish and chips both were delicious and extremely reasonable. There is a 10 minute walk to the beach over the sand dunes or a 10/15 minute walk into the picturesque village of Crantock.
We will definitely be visiting again.
Thank you

We were only able to spend two nights during the middle of the week due to work, but we had a really lovely and relaxing break at this site. The site itself is located so far away from anything commercial or built up, even the roads are sandy with no trace of concrete. The beach is a 10 minute walk and is lovely and clean. The campsite is surrounded by beautiful greenery and the owners are very friendly and helpful. When we read the description we had a lovely scenic out of the way campsite in mind, but when we got there we were surprised with just how far out the site is and how much it exceeded our expectations. I think we have found our new regular campsite and we will be spending many weekdays camping here.

I have been here half a dozen times as it is only an hour or so from Exeter where I live, so we can go when we know the weather is going to be good.
The site only accepts tents and small Campervans and facilities are fairly basic but clean. The site rules are fairly relaxed and the owners have always been nice to us. You can have a campfire and the whole atmosphere is fairly relaxed. I have only been once in school holidays and whilst it was busier, we weren't packed in.
The great thing about this site is that the beach is a short walk along a sandy track and is absolutely fantastic. It doesn't get crowded as it is a bit off the beaten track, unless you are staying at the site.
The bodyboarding and surfing has always been great when I have been, although you should be aware that there is no lifeguard cover and the majority of the beaches on the north coast can have rip currents.
All in all this is a great site if you like more basic camping with its best feature being its unrivalled location.

We are just back from a very good week on this lovely site. It does just what it says on the tin. No commercial distractions just a field with showers and loos and a tap of drinking water.
It was a really friendly site with lots of families and everyone very helpful and considerate. It was packed out with tents cheek by jowl, but this didn't seem to matter much, unlike on some less friendly sites.
The walk to the beach is just the kind of exposure to nature and hedgerows that I wanted for my eight year old, reminiscent of the Cornish holidays of my own childhood. Despite this, I can't help feeling that, even here on National Trust land, Cornwall has been 'tamed'. Everywhere you look, there are new-builds going up that do nothing for the county as a tourist attraction yet clearly aimed at this market. No buildings seen from this site, however.
Good beach, not life-guarded, but fairly safe and lots of sand. Evenings on the site were lovely with fire-pits going and children all making friends, running around in their pyjamas till goodness knows when, but who cares? Lots of bell tents. We might go again next year. The serious downside was the high price - you pay per person, not per pitch so a large family with teens will lose out, whereas a couple will be quids in. But not many of those in the school holidays when we were there - just lots of families in glamorous tents with all the bells and whistles (and tea lights) of 21st century camping.

This was a really disappointing holiday.
The site has a fabulous sand pit in the middle of one of the fields. But the noise from children went on until 10pm and the noise from camping adults went on until midnight.
The owner was clear that there should be no radios played, but the lack of other rules and any semblance of curfew made it. Miserable time for my son.
The showers are portable loo style but clean and plentiful hot water.
Ice blocks are available but the rules are strict.
The site is also not very level.
