My brother and his family recommended rowen farm, so off we went with anticipation because we had never camped and was not sure what to expect. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised on the lay back attitude of the owner.
We were allowed to pitch up anywhere we wanted and having three large fields to choose from there was plenty of space and didn't feel overlooked. It had sea views and a lovely stream near one of the fields.
It was a wonderful experience because the site was clean, friendly and safe for the children. There was no play area but we did our own games and the children quickly made friends.
It's very basic with 2 showers and a block of toilets which didn't supply toilet roll or soap but that didn't bother us. The shop on site was well stocked and even sold things to take on the beach.
The area offered chip shop, pub, restaurant, shop and pizzas all in walking distance.
After our first visit we went back four more times, love it and cant wait to go back

I thought this was a lovely site; the owner was very helpful and friendly, there was a shop selling the basics and the toilet/shower block were clean. Yes, you had to pay 40p for a shower, but at least it cut the queues down! The water was nice and hot and they were perfectly adequate. What I really loved was that the site wasn't crowded - we were in a field next to the river with only 3 other tents. The views and surrounding area is fantastic with a great little walk to a superb beach. There is a pub within walking distance which is OK for a drink but overpriced on the food. The nicest food we had there was from Tony's restaurant. The site is in a great location within easy driving distance to other beaches, Harlech, Barmouth and Snowdon - I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Just returned from a week at Rowen, had a lovely time. Site was empty, we had a nice flat pitch next to the river, toilets and showers were clean although the showers were hot the water just kind of trickled out and you had to pay 40p a token.
The scenary around was stunning, lots of places to visit on bikes or by foot.
The local pub food was ok, nothing special, also went into Barmouth for the evening for a nice meal but didnt really find any nice restaurants, they were all just pubs.
Would return to the site again. Owner very helpful

I have stayed at this campsite for many years now first going with my grandparents and then with my parents. I think that this is a great place to bring your family for a camping holiday, it is in a very nice, quiet area, it is only a short walk from the beach and there is also a stream running throught the site if the beach is too far. It also has a small shop near the entrance to the site with all the small needs for a camping holiday. There also used to be a great bakery across the road but unfortunately he has retired after many years of great service.
The facilities at the site were always sufficient I thought for any needs.
There are some great attractions close to the campsite that offer great days out if you do not wish to sit and laze about in your tent/caravan all day. There are very close town like Barmouth which has a very good fair on in the nights with a beach which is great to watch the sunset. Another great attraction is Harlech where you can visit the great castle or visit the beach, again :).
Farther afield there are even more great attractions with Porthmadogg and the Llynn peninsula not too far from the site.
From my experiences at the campsite right from childhood I would recommend this campsite to any family, young or old, and I guarantee that you will have a good time whatever you choose to do there. I know I did and hope to still do in the future.

Three fields to choose from so we chose to stayed on the one with the only toilet block on it, this field has a slight slope. £12.50 per night 2 adults and 1 child and sun shade. You also get charged for dogs, gazebo's ans tokens for hot water 40 pence a time. Tokens are used to heat up shower, washing up water and power for your own hair dryers. 2 showers each in the toilet block. This was not enough for the amount of people who were still pitching or being allowed on even after the full sign went up. I had a shower ,sort of , very tiny cubicle, limp shower head and my 40p only gave me enough time to wash hair and shave my legs, it ran out while I was still covered in soap. I could not get it to adjust to the right temperature at one point it was just very hot water. The only belfast sink (no drainer) did not give you 7 litres of hot water, you had to wait for it to warm up, as stated on the note on wall. No toilet paper either. A hike to the beach. Under the railway bridge the only plus side is you have a lovley view of the coast .A river also runs through the site. The facilities need updating and I can see why the tourers are ok as they have better facilities in there vans.

In reply to the review Vickie2292 gave, I have been to this site many times and its only this year the prices have gone up. But for a family of two adults two children with a car and large family tent its £11. I think someone got the price wrong. There is no need to book if you don't require a hook-up, the site is great quiet clean and friendly. The beach is fantastic and only a short walk through some fields, definitely recommend to anyone.

Went to this site on Whit Bank Holiday weekend for 2 nights and it wasn't overcrowded which we were thankful for. It was £18 per night for 2 adults and 2 kids with no ehu which I thought was a bit steep but we hadn't booked and were desperate! You could pitch where you wanted to and it had a shop on site which was quite reasonable. The beach was about a 15 minute walk which also wasn't so bad. Not a bad site and would maybe go back again.
