We had a very pleasant short stay here while touring the Lleyn peninsula.
The campsite is not crowded; plenty of space around your personal area. The owner is very helpful and friendly, as were all the other campers on the site. There is a useful shop on the adjacent static caravan site which stocks most essentials.
There is a good pub nearby, and also an Italian restaurant.
The downside, which may put off some campers, is that facilities are fairly basic. Loos were clean, but no loo roll 'due to abuse' ??!** Showers were 75p a session, and had nowhere to place or hang your stuff. But for us the peaceful location and atmosphere outweighed the disadvantages.
We will happily visit again.

Just returned from another great trip to Rowen Farm. We discovered this site by accident 8 years ago after getting turned away from Shell Island, and haven't gone anywhere else since. The owner is lovely, very friendly and doesn't hassle you for money, he knows us as we return every year, and he always looks out for a good spot for us. Tony's pizzeria and late night chip van is a must, as is the Ysgethin Pub, a short walk across the site and alongside the river. Handy shop on site, plus good choice in Barmouth, Aldi and Tesco in Porthmadog if you need to stock up. Toilets basic but very clean, bring your own loo roll, showers very hot just 75p for 7 mins (if you have little ones 7 mins is fine for two of you!) All in all a lovely site with plenty of space, no fancy hook ups, but what we say is 'proper campers don't need electric'. Just how we like it, BBQ outside and use gas cookers!

We have been coming to this campsite around 5 years and every year we are not disappointed. The campsite is situated in a lovely position which is quite sheltered with beautiful sea views in the distance. A stream runs adjacent to the site which is good to cool down by on a hot day. You can walk to the beach through some fields which takes around 8 minutes direct from the site. There is no need to book and you can pitch anywhere that suits. We paid £15. 50 per night for six of us. There is no playground on site but plenty of space for children to play ball games. There is also a shop available on the campsite.
The site is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The owner is very friendly and always willing to oblige. The toilets are clean but you have to supply your own soap and toilet roll, due to misuse. There are 2 showers which are basic but adequate, tokens are 75p for 7 mins.
There is a pub which is very popular only a short walk away and over the road from the pub is an Italian restaurant and pizza take away.
On our return we have seen many familiar faces from the past and speaking to other campers they have been going for years, so it proves what a pleasant campsite it is.

We were the only inhabited unit on the site, which is flat and grass well cut, farmer friendly & charged my e reader as there are no ehu. Facilities o k clean and plenty of loos, showers 75p for 7 minutes, 50p for 5 minutes might be better. Great area for walking and beaches. 11. 50 seemed o k for facilities. This whole coastline is beautiful whether you want beaches, walking or castles, and very uncrowded outside the main season.

This is the second time that I've stopped here. The camp site is well looked after and the farmer who looks after it is very friendly. The farmer was very laid back and left us to enjoy our break. It's in a perfect location with a beach, pub and shop all in walking distance. The train is also a short walk away which will take you into Barmouth.
The showers on site are small but the water is hot and are also clean. The site is overall value for money and everyone there appeared to be enjoying themselves.
Looking forward to visiting again next year

This campsite is a fantastic place, the farmer is very pleasant, and unlike some places he wont rip you off,
We camped in the far left field, toilets a two minute walk, showers are good but not great, but on the plus side some one nicked the tap from our field and as soon as the farmer knew he got on with finding another one, beautiful place,
Not too far from barmouth, will definitely visit again! I only left 8 and 1/2 hours ago and I already want to go back

Must say we have been here 3 times now, and its a must, clean friendly, farmer helpful.
3 green sites to say on. Farmer doesn't pester you for money just pop and see him.
No fires, but hay ho. Very very clean shower block. Showers 75p now, was 50p but powerful.
Shop on site, pizza, pub 2 mins walk of site. For a family of 4, £14 a night. Just need some elec points !
See you in bank hols again.

Lovely camping site, we had nearly an empty field with a river running next to it and sea view in the distance.
The farmer who ran the camp site was very friendly and helpful.
There were only two showers but they were never busy and although it was 50p a token it guaranteed you hot water and stopped long queues forming.
The beach could be accessed via 10 minute(ish) walk across a field but it brought you out next where the river runs onto the beach, this was difficult to cross if you didn't want to get your feet or legs wet, but it was on the right side for the sand dunes.
There was a pub within walking distance (just along the main road) and a really nice pizza place right next to the camp site called Tony's- well worth a visit!
My 2 year old nephew joined us while camping and he enjoyed having a large field to run about and play on despite there been no play area. My overall stay was very nice and I'd certainly recommend it to others.

After reading all the positive reviews about this place we were a little disappointed by it. We were passing through on the Route 8 cycle route over the August Bank Holiday and called in here. There was quite a lot of space to pick from with three huge fields but only one toilet block on the whole site.
The charge was also £18 for a tiny little two man tent for one night, I know it was the long weekend but I thought that was a bit steep considering the lack of facilities at the site.
There was a charge for the showers which is good to stop queues but the shower heads weren't very good and there was nowhere to put your stuff whilst showering to keep it dry.
We locked our bicycles to a piece of old farming machinery because there was nowhere else to lock them.
The food at the pub up the road looked very average and the local Italian restaurant was fully booked so we ended up at the fish and chip shop behind the B&B up the road, it was surprisingly good!
The farmer was friendly and the location was good but the facilities needed to be improved.

We have been going here a few years now, we find it perfect for what we need. Good shop on site, shower block is good always kept clean. A choice of fields to use, good that you don't have to booking just turn up. Routes from site to barmouth town where there is plenty of shops and a fair ground, harlech castle, shell island, easy access to beach with lovely views around. We will not go any where else.
