Lovely quiet site, very well positioned for walking and cycling.
All facilities closed due to Covid but this was explained when we booked.
Will definitely return.

A lovely site within easy reach of Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby, Scarborough and many other places (if you want fish and chips we can recommend The Fish Box in Whitby, just across from the station - good food at reasonable prices). Our pitch was slightly sloping but we coped ok with it (and since we had a LOT of rain, it may have helped to prevent us being waterlogged). Cath and Russ are very friendly, as is their son Troy. They are available if you need them but not 'in your face'.
The very clean toilets, showers and washing facilities are located inside a barn, which also had a lovely lounge area with TV and DVD. There is also a fridge freezer supplied for campers to use. There is a charge of £1 for ten minutes hot water in the shower, but we didn't mind this as the showers were very good - unlike on many sites you could control the force of the water as well as the temperature.
Given that we visited in August the fees were very reasonable and we will certainly consider this site if we are travelling to that area again. The only downside is the bumpy access road from the A171, but we had been warned about it - you just have to drive slowly. The access road is quite long which means that once you are on site, although you can occasionally hear some road noise it is not obtrusive and the site feels secluded.

£20 per night for 2 adults, a dog and EHU.
Handstanding pitch was roomy.
Site was ok to find.
Rubbish/ recycling available.
Barn housed 2 showers and 2 toilets, one for each sex and then a unisex washroom.
Showers were £1 for 10 mins but we found as did others a handful of £1 coins best as they weren’t always accepted by the unit.
Shower room has 4 hooks and 2 chairs. Excellent.
But the wash room had no hooks. Something to add I’d suggest.
There’s also a tv room but with no heating in the barn it was too cold to use.
Drinking water tap was slow, I’m told it’s not the norm.
Pot wash area is under cover. A single sink with cold water only. We werehed in the van.
TV reception, digital was for us not the best in the area. Phone was intermittent. But we managed.
The site is nice and clean.
There is a dog in the house opposite that barks a lot but otherwise it’s nice and peaceful.
Plenty of footpaths in the area. Nice walk to Boggle Hole YHA for cake. Then back along the cycle track.
Host was excellent and friendly. Looks a nice part of the world to live.
Handy location to visit Heartbeat, Whitby, Scarborough etc.
Loved the site as not big. Easy to book and pay.
Good being CCC members only.

Stayed in July 2018 and had a lovely time at this campsite. Excellent location for walking and bike rides, spotless facilities & friendly, helpful owners.
Pitches were spacious and flat and we loved the snug room & free use of a fridge/freezer.
Only slight downside were some dog owners on site who failed to control their dogs barking each time you walked past their pitch.
We’ll definitely be back!

We spent two nights at Spring Hill and although the site was well presented it felt over manicured for a small campsite. We stayed with friends and we all had dogs with us.
It was made very clear that not only must dogs be well behaved and paid for but they must also be pretty much silent. As any dog owner knows this can often be a tricky thing to expect especially when other people and dogs are around. This led to a far from relaxed atmosphere with all dog owners on the site paranoid about noise for fear of being booted off.
As far as the facilities are concerned they were clean but it seems odd to have to wash in an adapted urinal! There are also no hooks or shelves to hang towels or upon which to place toothbrush etc. Having a pot wash with only cold water is also not too helpful!
So on balance this was an OK site but over regulated (many many signs covering most aspects of behaviour) it’s not a site that it’s easy to Relax on especially if you have a dog! It’s also over priced I feel.

One of the best small sites that we've visited. We were made very welcome by Cath and Russ who seemed genuinely keen to ensure that we had a good stay.
Wonderfully quiet location off the A171, well tucked away down an unmade track. Level hardstandings for vans/caravans and grass areas for tents. Good views from the higher spots but not so good nearer the barn. Part of the large barn has been converted to provide 2 good sized shower cubicles, 2 toilets and a communal washing facility with warm water and soap. There is also a very useful TV lounge with settees, DVDs, tourist guides etc etc which could be very useful in poor weather. Outside there is a cold water washing up sink. There are plans afoot to increase the number of toilets next year although we weren't held up at all during our visit.
All the facilities were absolutely spotless and of a high quality. Loo paper as good as home!
There are plenty of walks in the immediate area and the walk to Boggle Hole and on to Robin Hoods Bay along the beach is a good one.
All in all a very good site which we will certainly return to.

Staying here was like being on a sterile boot camp which you have to pay for. There are lots of “don’t do this and that” signs and we were watched throughout our stay; as the owners house overlooks the site. The site is small and the beach at Bogglw Bay is quite a long walk away but well worth the trip down.
The steel barn sitting room and facilities were clean and well maintained. However, there is no hot water to wash up at the tiny outside sink which has no cover to protect you from rain. The shower lights are push button and go off when you’re mid way through your £2-a-go shower. These are such miserly touches which make for an unpleasant experience.
The owners don’t seem to want any evidence of customers being there. This feels like a site which has not been developed by people who love the freedom and relaxation you should have when camping.
Despite being the only campervan on site, we were shouted at by the owner and ordered off site after going slightly over (the ridiculously early) check out time by a few minutes. We would never return here again and don’t recommend this site.

This is a nice small site that has a lot of potential, tucked away down a rather bumpy rubble track just off the the A171 (definitely not suitable for low vehicles!), great location to explore Whitby and Scarborough, the site was very clean and organised and is a Camping and Caravanning Club member site only.
Friendly and helpful owners/managers with lots of useful info in the TV lounge area.
Popular with dog owners as there are numerous country walks locally including Robin Hoods Bay and Boggle Hole.
Facilities are however rather basic as the washing up area is only one exposed outside sink with no shelter when it is raining and also has NO hot water, only cold (not much use if you have greasy pots and pans!)
Luckily we were in a caravan on mains hook up so ended up boiling the Kettle several times and traipsing up and down to get the pans and dishes cleaned properly!
Only one gents and one ladies toilet and just one very small corner sink unit just large enough to wash your hands, so we ended up using our larger caravan sink.
All the lighting in the main block is on a timed switches so inevitably you will be sat on the toilet in the dark at some point.
Lovely location but we felt the site had room for improvement and was overpriced for £24 per night based on the facilities provided.
