 Having to find an alternative campsite in the run-up to the Great Yorkshire Show, we stumbled upon this haven and can't praise it too highly. The gently sloping & well drained camping field is surrounded by the rolling hills of Nidderdale and our closest neighbours on arrival were the cows and sheep in the adjoining fields and the occasional chicken wandering over from the farmhouse. There are 6 EHU points from a single pole, the owners do have cables if extension needed. The ablution block is brand new and sparkling clean with two large wet-room showers, good shower pressure, with mixer taps, two separate toilets, washing and washing-up facilities and a washer/dryer. No kids playground, but plenty of space to play. The owners are friendly and helpful and offer free-range eggs and a wide selection of homemade jams, chutneys and baked goods for sale. Amongst the many walking paths in the area is one leading to a local pub, which is a convivial watering hole that also serves good food. A small shop selling essentials and takeaway food and another pub are about a mile away, in the village of Dacre Banks. Bus stop to Harrogate within walking distance.
We loved the area and Oxon Close Farm provided us with a great base: we wouldn't hesitate to return.
