Spent 7 nights at this lovely site we just love it here.
Went with the family who stayed in the new 6 berth holiday caravan while we had a pitch for our tourer.
These people that run this site are amazingly friendly, really nice folk.
Had some great fishing with good carp and Bream, very peaceful
Place to chill, the only slight downside is the shower block could be bigger, but this did not spoil our holiday.
We will be back again next year, great value for money!

Three night stay just after August Bank Holiday. Four adults and two kids in our group with one camper van and one tent.
When I booked several months ago I was told there was only one pitch available with an EHU so our party would be split between the two areas of the site. On arrival it was obvious that almost half the EHU pitches were free. The owner was very reluctant to allow our friends tent onto this area, even though they were happy to pay for the electric they wouldn't use but after some haggling we had adjoining pitches.
The pitches were very generous. We had a campervan, large awning and gazebo with plenty of room left for cricket! Mature trees surrounded the area which was very sheltered.
The facilities are pretty basic but clean. I could never work out how to operate the lights in the gents and water pressure was very low in the pot wash area.
No shortage of fish in the lakes and we all enjoyed a couple of hours each evening catching lots of them.
We visited Bewilderwood and Dinosaur Adventure, both within 20/25 minutes drive. Good options if you have kids. Unanimous opinion was Bewilderwood was by far the best day out.
We didn't need to do any shopping whilst we were staying so I don't know how close shops might be.
One note of warning. There is a sawmill/timber yard close to this site. Operations started well before first light which woke up several of our party every morning. The disturbance went on for several hours and we found it quite intrusive.
Site itself is good but the facilities and nearby sawmill let it down somewhat.

Just got back from our second visit to the site and are looking forward to returning next year. This is a family friendly site and if you have children I can recommend it. There is lots of open space to explore, a heath a few steps away and a fishing lake.
One of the things we enjoy when we visit is there are a few different fields to camp in and lots of nooks and crannies, so you can enjoy a degree of seclusion if you choose. It is surrounded by trees and greenery so you really get a sense of being in the countryside, not just a big field with a sea of tents around you. It is also very quiet.
The owners are very friendly and helpful and keep their site clean and well maintained. The toilets and shower blocks were always clean and everything you would expect from a camping cleaning block. You are enjoying nature after all.
Well situated to explore the broads and beaches we would highly recommend this site.

Been here twice now, lovely peaceful site, surrounded by trees and lots of wildlife.
Very friendly and welcoming owners who couldn't be more helpful. Fishing excellent, a choice of 2 well stocked lakes including carp, roach, bream, gudgeon and tench.
Plenty of bins dotted around. Toilet block basic but clean. Lovely hot showers!
Only downside to this site is it could do with a play area for children to keep them entertained and away from the fisherman.
We liked this site that much we braved it in a tent through 36 hours of torrential rain before we purchased our caravan this year!
It is not far from Cromer, Great Yarmouth, Norwich, Aylesham, all easily accessible.

The Greaves Family. Originally went for a week. Left after over one month. Wonderful site, well run, very friendly, excellent fishing. Would have stayed longer if possible. Will definitely return just as soon as possible. We have visited many sites on our travels. This is the best and the most welcoming.
Toilet blocks adequate and I understand they will be upgraded in the closed season. There are numerous species of fish in the lakes including carp, bream, tench, roach, perch and gudgeon many of which are of outstanding weight.
For the non-fisherman there is a large area of woodland and heath suitable for dog walking and rambling. A host of wildlife can be observed including deer, horses, squirells, kingfishers. In easy reach of Norwich, Aylsham, Cromer and Great Yarmouth.

Unlike most of the other reviews, we stayed here in a tent. I'm afraid one night was long enough and we checked out a week early!
The washing facilities were very basic (1 shower each for men and women, and 50p for shower, no hot water taps in the men's washbasins, non-working hot water taps in the ladies), and not very modern or as clean as we're used to - probably as the building was so small.
The straw that broke the campers' back was to discover when trying to go out early on the first morning that the site is closed with a locked gate between 11pm and 'some time after 7am'. This had not been explained to us on arrival and we spent some time trying to find/phone the camp owner in order to get the gate unlocked. To be fair, the owner did refund the money we had paid in advance for the nights we didn't stay, when she knew we weren't happy but I think the owners of this site (and other campers) need to visit other sites in the area to see what is available at very little extra cost (probably no extra cost if you count the cost of showers!).

We stayed in a static caravan for two weeks and enjoyed every minute!
This is a friendly, family run campsite set in beautiful surroundings.
The fishing is good and varied with two lakes to choose from. There are heathland areas for dog walking with plenty of wildlife for the nature lover.
The site is handy for both Norwich and the beach at Cromer or other resorts. A steam train runs a regular service from Wroxham and Aylsham and you can travel back and forth all day for the price of one ticket - great for the enthusiast.
We are so looking forward to returning, we booked again as we left to make sure we we could get the weeks we want!
Can't wait for July.

Just returned from an idyllic weekend at this site. Fishing for the menfolk leaving me and the dogs to enjoy the peace and quiet sitting on our large pitch surrounded by trees. When the pace gets too much for me I can walk onto the adjoining heath to watch the abundance of wildlife. To round off a perfect day, we drove the short distance to Cromer beach, where the dogs had a lovely game in the sea, and then watched the sun setting as we sat and ate our fish and chips. This is just typical of one of MANY visits to Hevingham Lakes, you can't beat it, peace, space, friendly helpful owners that run a shipshape campsite without breathing down your neck.

The toilet block was quite a walk from our caravan, only 1 shower I noticed also the water tap was near the block as well so we had to take the car and bring the water back as it was too heavy for us to drag. We paid £4 each to fish that's £8 a day and didn't catch a single fish ! Otherwise a nice peaceful site. Would revisit again and hopefully catch a fish or two next time.We are local so don't have to travel too far.

Stayed for 10 days at Hevingham lakes. The toilet block is old fashioned and basic. 50p for a shower but lovely and hot and lasts a long while. Only 1 shower and 2 toilets in the gents. 1 shower and 3 toilets in the ladies. Thewe are cleaned regularly. Plenty of bins around the site and these are emptied on a regular basis. The site is very spread out with plenty of room on each pitch but prebook if you require EHU as they are in short supply. The lakes are very pretty but the lower lake is almost devoid of fish and the water quality is not at all good. The top lake on the other hand holds a large head of good quality coarse fish and is a joy to fish at. We were woken up early most week days buy noisy machinery from somewhere near the site most weekdays which is a real shame because in general this is a lovely peacful site with access to the common at the rear of the site (10 Dartmoor ponies have been turned loose on the common to stop the growth of bracken and sapling trees). Wildlife surrounds you with deer, a multitude of birds and I even saw a weasel ! The owners and staff were always friendly and helpful but I am not sure I will return as the noise in the mornings and the shower block detracted from what could be a very special campsite
