We've just spent a fantastic week on the (Caravan Club) CL here. There's loads of space and the site is quiet. Although this site is away from the lakes, we walked down every evening - to enjoy the beautiful lakes, and pure tranquillity.
There is one toilet and one shower (but only 5 units sharing), which are reasonably new and kept spotlessly clean. Showers are 50p.
There is literally loads to do in the surrounding area - Bure Valley Railway, Poppy Line (Sheringham), Dinosaur Park, Cromer, Felbrigg (NT) and Blickling (NT) to mention just a few things!
We paid £10.50 per night - covering 2 Adults, 1 Child, Awning and Electric Hookup - which we felt was excellent value for money.
To top everything off, the family that runs this site are lovely - so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Will we be back? Just as soon as we can make it!

We stayed on the CC CL, which is a couple of hundred yards from the lakes and the commercial camping area. The CL is very spacious, level and well drained. It has a shower (50p) and toilet. TV and mobile reception are very good. Loads of opportunities for exploring the woods and heaths direct from the site. Aylsham is a nice little town about five miles away, whilst Norwich is about 11 miles. A P+R is a bit nearer, by the airport. There are numerous NT places to visit within 10 miles, and a couple of steam railways.

We've just spent two nights at Hevingham Lakes. It is very basic with the one shower in the ladies, taking 50p for about 5 mins, lovely hot water. Bit disappointed with the washing up water, 20p for half a bowl full tho:-( , will take paper plates next time. Lol. Will visit again.

We wanted to visit the Hillside Animal Sanctuary in nearby Frettenham so this site was ideal.
Tucked away in a secluded copse surrounded by woods and small lakes.
Main facilities were basic but usable, perhaps they have been updated by now?
Plenty of wildlife around, at night you'll see rabbits, owls and fishermen.
Hardly any light pollution at night there so if you like doing a bit of star gazing like me this site will be perfect. Remember to bring a good torch for your last night trip to the washrooms.
The sounds of falling acorns on the roof will add a certain ambiance to your stay.
If you have time, try a visit to Wroxham on the Norfolk Broads, only about 10 miles away.
To access the wooded pitches you have to cross a field by a longish single track road, not sure if there is room to pass another tourer coming the opposite way. Have a look on Google Earth.
The owners were friendly and helpful.

We took the 3 children and 2 dogs to stay in the caravan at this lovely peaceful site. The owner was very friendly although slightly disorganised about where we should hook up. We found a great spot in some trees close to the lakes. There is also two larger more open fields to camp on but these are without electric. The facilities were close to us but quite far away from the more open sites, The toilet / wash block were very basic but clean and tidy and the bins around site were emptied regularly. The lakes were very peaceful and attracted many anglers from off site as well as on. There where no shops nearby but with 3 children it stopped constant ice cream requests. Overall it was a lovely peaceful, no frills campsite with cheap fees so would visit again as ideal place to sit and do nothing and only a short drive to Norwich should the need arise. Just make sure you take insect repellant as the lakes attract more than just the anglers!

We stayed on the Caravan Club's Certified Site section on this site, this section is away from the main camping area and is very quiet. Large open field with new shower and toilet for the use of the 5 caravans allowed on the certified section. Very friendly owners - would stay again.

August 2005 Having never camped before I must say it was with some trepidation I went off to Hevingham Lakes in Norfolk for a three day stay over the Aug bank holiday weekend. We arrived around teatime on a rather damp evening to be met by the owners of the site. They were very friendly and helpful and asked if we would like newspapers for the following morning. The site is in a lovely location and the peace and quiete that you experience there is second to none. Evenings outside the tent barbequing to the sound of owls was a superb setting for what was a lovely weekend. And that is why I am going back again at the end of sept and taking my son and daughter in law with me.

July 2005 This is a nice quiet site run by a lovely family. A new toilet block is under construction next to the c.l site. The lakes are 30 years old and very pretty and well looked after although a build up of silt on the bottom has been allowed to accumalate making presentation difficult. The lakes contain a large number of silver fish and large bream. There are also a fair number of carp including some twenties. The carp fishing can be slow! There are two lakes and casting can be difficult on most pegs due to the overhanging trees but not impossible. A great place to take the kids and extemeley well positioned for touring. We stayed for ten days and thoroughly enjoyed it. I would recommend a visit by anyone wanting a peaceful break

October 2004 Hidden away in a small village, off of a little A road you discover the rather beautifully tranquil Hevingham lakes.
A large site, with open areas up a small hill, or secluded areas with electric hook ups around a fishing lake (we were offered a permit when booking our 2 night stay!). With rabbits waiting in the field on our arrival, and the lake so close, you felt immediately in the palms of nature.
The toilet block was simple, two cubicles in each of the male/female side. A trough in the mens and a warm shower in each. There was a box on the wall for 20p's for the showers, but it didn't seem to be working, as you just had to turn the tap, and voila, nice warm water! Clean, and toilet paper in supply. No soap though.
Good if your not all up for families is the lack of play areas (though, the camping field is big), and there is limited lighting around the site (existing only on the toilet block in fact).
We were charged £6/night for our two person tent (and car), by the nice, friendly family who run the site, who also had lots of information leaflets on offer of local attractions. They also seemed to have limited supplies in a shop type fashion.
Easy to get to Norwich from (and the Park & Ride worked well for us). The only down side is the lack of pubs/take-aways in walking distance, though there is both in 5-10 mins drive.
A quiet, relaxing, and tranquil site for those who like to get away from the bustle a bit.

The site is certainly quite basic but is an ideal get away from it all base. A new large open field has been opened, giving campers and vanners the choice of pitching in the open, or in the clearings surrounding the lakes. We spent two very enjoyable weeks at this site, accompanied by two other units, all agreed it was ideal for visiting a wide area of Norfolk, or just for relaxing with a rod if that is your thing.
