Just returned from 3 night stay in our 6 man tent, first campsite visited for 7 years. We'd booked a few days prior and having phoned 20 or sites in the Chester/North Wales area this was the only 1 with vacancies.
On arrival we were quoted a price of £40 per night for 4 adults and our tent. I pointed out that this was £10 more than stated on the website. The lady explained that they had only recently taken over and the website had not been updated. They reluctantly settled on £30.
The shower facilities were poor. The gents water trickled out, although always hot. My wife informed me that the ladies were better. The toilets were dirty, no matter what time of the day that we went. Toilet roll not in holders, no toilet brush.
The campsite runs alongside 2 roads and the noise is loud and constant.
The new owners have work to do to make this site a success and should improve things

This site could be so much better. There are no pubs or cafes within walking distance so a site cafe or bar would be great. The night we spent there was torrential rain (not site fault) and the ground was saturated, so much so that I had to wade bare foot through the grass 3 inches deep in water to unhook the electric, so drainage a problem.
The toilet block was dated though quite clean, a nice touch would have been loo brushes in the stalls, most of the taps were loose. Water was hot, though the push on taps lasted about 7 seconds if you were lucky. The road noise from the A55 was also very noticeable but again not the sites fault. Also rather expensive at £20 out of season.
Would we go again, probably not though the welcome on arrival was really friendly.

We booked this campsite as we had left it too late to book anywhere for the bank holiday weekend. Only really just started camping in last month. This was available. Terribly noisy due to busy road. Looked quite a nice place at first but to be honest it felt like we were camping on the hard shoulder of the motorway.
Looks quite impressive from the road but there is actually nothing there at all. Not even near by. We walked to the red lion pub which was nice but it took about 40 mins and it didn't feel that safe with a buggy. The toilets were clean enough. No atmosphere at this place at all.
Wouldn't class this as a campsite, wont be returning, but we did enjoy our weekend as we always do!

We have stayed at Chester Southerly twice now and each time we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The site is well maintained and kept tidy. The toilet block was very clean at all times and there were plenty of showers and running water. The electric sockets in the ladies toilets solved my wife’s problem of drying her hair – a welcome addition.
There is no shop on site but plans are a foot to have one in the future. This did not cause a problem as the local village of Lache was only a 5 minute drive away.
You could hear general noise from the nearby busy A road, but this did not affect our holiday or our enjoyment.
We met a lovely couple, Kevin and Jeanette, who were on a seasonal pitch. They were very welcoming and even helped us put our awning up in the heavy rain we encountered when we arrived. We then enjoyed a drink with them around their campfire.
All in all a lovely site and one we will be visiting again in the not too distant future.

Well kept and tidy site. Noise was a real problem, I was woken at 5am by motorcycles racing along the nearby major road. The noise never stopped all night. For such a large site I was disappointed with only five gents toilets and four showers, also on Sunday morning only one was in a usable state. It was very expensive for no facility's and no real dog walk. No pubs or food within walking distance. Wardens very helpful and polite but I won't be going back

We used the site whilst on a touring long weekend. The site warden was really friendly and helpful. The site was clean and tidy and child friendly.
The toilets were lovely and clean and there were several showers - it was all very spacious. There was a large laundry room and an excellent pot wash room. The site was near to main A roads but far enough away not to be bothered by them. The price was affordable and fair when compared to other places.
It was a short drive to a nearby pub for a meal which was sadly very disappointing the warden had advised takeaway can be delivered to the site we wished we had chosen that option afterwards.

An adults only site which doesn't allow dogs. The site is a short bus ride away from Chester. However, it is right next to a busy and very fast A road so you can sit outside your van and watch cars hurtling past 50 yards away. The noise is considerable. I agree with previous comments about needing a car to get around. There are several major roads surrounding the site which means cycling can be troublesome. The loos and showers are well maintained.

We went for a weekend as a test run with our new tent. Friendly campsite. Basic facilities but clean and staff helpful. only downside was the noise as near to a main road. Worth a visit if in the area. Near to Chester but would need a car to get to most places. No pub within walking distance which may bother some !

Just spent 3 days here Nice, spotless, well tended site. Owners very helpful, toilets & showers immaculate at all times! Says adults only on gates - but there were children on site when we were there. Good weekend site, we'll go back again. The road noise was not bad at all - barely noticed it!
