Just returned from our first ever family camping break at Yont Cleugh and apart from the weather everything else was brilliant. The Owners of the site are very friendly and offered us help with our tent although none was needed (just).
Small playground for the kids as well as horses to pet and places to explore kept them busy. Pub open at the weekends. Definitely would return

A rural site with a relaxed atmosphere the new owners Barry and his son Wayne make you feel welcome. The facilities are small but well maintained and clean with ample hot water. There is a pub on site which opens at weekends and peak periods.
A small football play area is well used by all children of various ages!. The nearest supermarkets are 4 miles away in Haltwhistle as are the nearest takeaways however one will deliver to the site, we have not tried this having managed to BBQ each time with the weather being fine.
There are several pleasant walks from the site as well as easy access to Hadrians Wall

The site is situated in beautiful country side only 4 miles from haltwhistle. All the tourer pitches are hard standing, on gravel. The pitches are placed around a central grassed area which quickly filled up with tents over the weekend. The tent owners park in the vacant tourer pitches, if the pitches are full we could not see anywhere else for them to park.
The shower block was small but clean and tidy. The showers were hot and free, there was no sign of the poor water pressure mentioned in previous reviews. The bar on the site opens between 8pm and 11pm fr1days and Saturday, it is cosy and friendly and worth a visit.
The site now has new owners who are very friendly and helpful, they intend to further improve the site, including a new shower block. We hope to return soon to see how they are getting on.

We find this site lovely and peaceful in very nice countryside with friendly welcome from the new owners. Shops and attractions within a few miles
Water pressure and hot water in showers much improved from last year and very clean, though still lacks space, we hear the new owners intend to refurbish these facilities.
A cosy pub on site, open weekends, if you like to meet the locals and other campers for a drink.
Altogether a very pleasant stay.

Just returned after cutting our bank holiday 4 night trip short, mainly because of the weather which was pretty bleak and as the site is quite remote there is no protection from the wind. The site itself although run by a very friendly young couple over sells itself on the web. Due to its location it is not very children friendly, particularly when it is wet and you can't get onto the field to play games to keep them occupied. The play park is also pretty basic and our seven year old granddaughter soon got bored of just having swings to play on.
The shower block was pretty basic and not very well designed as there is nowhere to get undressed before getting in the shower. Also, the water pressure is a dribble, so beware any ladies with long hair to wash! There was a problem with the gas feeding the hot water for pot washing so had to wash up in the ladies loos. Not very hygienic.
The site has a nice bar which is a nice touch but not much use if you have kids with you as they have to be out by 9.30 and as there was no way for our granddaughter to run off her energy during the day we spent our two nights holed up in the tent playing cards.
This is a site which I would imagine is lovely when the weather is perfect and for couples looking for somewhere quiet, definitely not made for families.

The camping is quiet and gives protection against stormy winds. For tourers the pitches are good. There is a lawn and there are places on gravel what can be convenient when it's wet as it was in the days we were there after weeks with rain. But the facilities are terrible. In the toilet building there is a hardly bearable stench of urine. Of one of the showers, without any room for you clothes, a tap wasn't functioning and there were problems with the flushing of one of the toilets. My conclusion would be: don't go there unless you have to be there in the surroundings which are of an astonishing beauty.

This was a lovely site. Good facilities for tourers and tents in front of an area of statics and log cabins. Very rural. In the middle of nowhere. No shops nearby but there is an on-site bar. Friendly staff (and cat- Disney - he dis nay do much). Ducks (and ducklings) and horses around. Birds and bats about. Beautiful views and marvellous sunsets. Down-side - lots of midges at night.

We were a last minute arrival and they managed to find a spot for us. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
A pleasant campsite in a nice area. The campsite has a nice pub, though it doesn't serve food and there is a good size field for kids to run round in.
The only downside is the toilet block. There are 2 showers and they are tiny. There is no space to get changed unless you are stood in the shower tray, it is best not to be shy and get changed in the main toilet area.

The positives: Very friendly site, excellent facilities with a real pub on site.
The negatives: We were in the tent field next to the tourers and it was soaking wet to say the least. It took 3 days of being dry just to get a little close to acceptable. I felt sorry for those right against the trees as it looked like a quagmire there. ** please note this was the wettest August in many years
The pub could sell food, which would make a roaring trade as the closest pub we found was a few miles away and while the food was good, if you haven't booked you won't get in. Little kids are supposed to be out of the pub at 9.30 but most were still there until 11pm which was a little annoying.
While stating the negatives though I would go back as it was a good atmosphere and the positives outweighed the negatives.
Supermarket in Haltwhistle will have most of your needs if not then there is Tesco in Hexham.

Must admit don't know what all the fuss is about this site. The location is fine, it's in the countryside, but the caravan pitching area itself is nothing to write home about. Basically it's a circle of gravel with a very small grass area in the middle. No views at all. The fresh water point (I'm assuming that's what it was as it wasn't labelled as being drinking water, by our van leaked very badly. The chemical disposal point is a hole covered by an old board and quite frankly it was disgusting. The water was backed up to the top and t***s were floating in it. The toilets were rudimentary but clean and as with the bins were a bit of a hike, being next to the bar which is closest to the static vans. The young couple running it are very nice, but I can only assume that some reviewers had spent some time in the onsite bar before submitting their reviews about this site.
