Just spent bank holiday weekend Fri-Mon (end May) at this site. The site is run by Linzi and Johnny who I must say are the most friendliest people ever and only too happy to help out. The site is high up in the middle of the countryside and you really feel at home with nature, there is a small horseshoe court area with all the facilities available including a small bar with real log fire, dishwashing, laundry and toilets / showers. There is also a small park area for the kids. Due to booking late we were put on the far end of the football field which was fine by us as gave us alot of freedom for the kids, however the main pitches didn't look squashed in at all, however if offered I will say the pitch was sloped and bumpy but that didn't bother us. There is a small wooded area between the pitches and playfield which the kids loved playing in. As hard as it is to do I must advise of the negative points of the site as it impacted on our family and from other comments on quite a few others. Having read on previous reviews about the toilet / shower facilities I thought they didn't seem too bad so we'd take a chance. The fact is that the toilets / showers are supplied via spring water (not mains) the toilets didn't flush well so you often found 'parcels' left from previous users. We on two occasions had no water to wash or brush teeth as the tanks were empty and told to wait half an hour or so for the tanks to refill. The showers are tiny cubicles which hardly gave room to change in, clothes needed to be stored on the sinks or hung over the door. The water was pitiful, only trickling out, having worked up a lathe I questioned how long it would take to wash off and it took some time. There are two cubicles and as soon as the second was turned on the shower turned cold. The other lady had to wait until I finished so she could shower. Nightmare! I would have given the site 10/10 if it wasn't for the toilets / showers - what a pity such a beautiful tranquil site is spoiled by this. I wouldn't go back only because of the toilet / shower facilities. If you can cope with clean but poor quality showers / wc then try this site out as it was beautiful and we really enjoyed ourselves - we just smelt abit from the lack of washing!

Just spent Bank Holiday week-end 2nd to 5th May at this site. What can I say? Excellent site, immaculate, very friendly Lyndsey showed us to our pitch and even helped us to push the van in to position. Lovely little Pub with Boddington's and Tennents Velvet and draught Scrumpy Jack!.
Beware the site cat, she will lick you to death!
Only downside were the showers, Hot water depended on how many were showering or washing their hands.
But this is just a small point, a very well run site.
Loudest noise is the birds singing in the evening and first thing.
Visited the lovely town of Alston which is not too far away. Beware! the whole town is on a VERY steep hill. Has been used on film a few times.
Had Sunday Lunch at the Country Kitchen at the top of the hill.Well worth the walk, Superb roast and SIX! veg and yorkshire puds for £4.20.

Camped here with in our tent on August bank holiday weekend at short notice. They 'shoe-horned' us in to a space more than adequate for our little two man tent. Headed for the second turn off on the Haltwhistle bypass and as we don't have sat-nav, followed the brown caravan park signs by the side of the road. Led us straight to it. Reception is at one end of a 'horse shoe' shaped set of old farmhouse buildings. Very picturesque. Nobody was in but I stuck my head round the pub door and Linzi came and sorted our booking in. Straight away the kids ran off to the football field while I set up leaving me no worries about them being heckled for playing football too close to someones caravan. There is a small washing up area in the main set of buildings and although the hot water only lasts for half a bowlful, it did the job. Before we knew it it was time to come home. Driving back towards Haltwhistle, the views are amazing. The roads are 'fun' and make you wish they were longer. Great if you are in a car by itself but might prove awkward in places with a caravan. Relaxing and cosy is how I would describe this site, if a little expensive at £12.50 for a two man tent without EHU for one night (Bank Holiday weekend). Would return again but I would have to check the price first.

Very peaceful and friendly site. Great to walk from with plenty of good ones available. We were only going to stop one night on our way to Scotland but decided on an extra night when we saw how clean the toilets and showers were kept. On site pub might have had something to do with it as well. Haltwhistle only a few minutes drive with a co-op that is open to 10 pm. I would imagine when the site is full (there are statics and lodges) the football area which is only a hedge thickness away from the camping area might become a bit noisy. You will need MIDGE repellent at this time of the year.

Visited Yont The Cleugh Caravan Park for the early May Bank Holiday with another family. On arrival we were greeted by Linzi who was very friendly and 'down to earth'. She directed us (on foot) to our pitches which were situated under some trees next to the playing field. I was a bit wary of the pitches we were allocated because prior to the visit I had read an independent review which complained of this very spot stating that it was very shaded, on a slope and prone to the dreaded 'constant wet grass' syndrome. But because the grass seemed pretty dry and the weather seemed quite promising we weren't too bothered, in fact we were pretty grateful of the shelter due to some gusty winds during our stay, heavy rain showers left no traces of boggy grass either because the ground was so soft. There are two shower blocks in both the men's and women's toilet blocks which I suppose are adequate as the site is prodominantly caravans but the water pressure leaves a lot to be desired along with the fact that there isn't much room to dress once you've had a shower. Along with the toilets though they are kept clean. The on site pub was very cosy and offered a place for our older children to meet with friends. The positives to this site were the owners' friendliness and helpfulness, it being nice and quiet at night (even when the pub closed!) and an old fashioned sense of safeness around the site. The negatives would have to be the shower blocks and the fact that there is no site shop for basic essentials.

Just got back home today (29th april) after spending 2 fantastic nights at this campsite. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful holiday then this is the site to go to. From first arriving and being met by very friendly owners, we were shown to our pitch which was immaculate. Everyone on the site were friendly and spoke all the time we were there. Toilets spotless, as were the showers. There is no shop on site, but if you take all provisions with you then there is not a problem and haltwhistle is only 10 mins away. There is a childrens play area and A green with goal posts. On day of leaving owner came round to see if everything was ok and that we were happy with our stay. ALL these little special touches that alot of sites have forgotten about makes such a difference. We SHALL certainly be going back again.

We visited this site on the Bank Holiday weekend - they took our booking when everyone else was full, and put us at the end of the playing field - walking round the touring field I was quite glad, obviously busy and could get a bit noisy. Facilities were ideal, toilets spotless, showers were slightly small (when washing 2 small children along with yourself!) but manageable. The olde worlde pub on site was a real bonus, with non smoking family room with free air hockey game for the kids. The couple who run the site were really helpful and friendly, even charged up our electric pump for the airbeds after we forgot to! The highlights for the kids were the pony in the field next to our tent and the "slide roads" - very twisty, hilly roads on the approach to the site, bit like a roller coaster with my husbands driving! We went to Alston for the day and on the Steam Railway - nice trip, Haltwhistle is also handy for the co-op when you forget half your stuff as well.

First time at this site. Very friendly staff and lovely clean site with nice showers / toilets - always clean and fresh. Not too oversized so ideal for a nice relaxing, quiet stay. The gentleman at reception even helped me park up giving signals when reversing the van to the pitch, which is always a nice touch when you arrive quite tired. Good friendly inn on site which allows children all night (accompanied by adult), and has pool / air hockey to keep them entertained. Haltwhistle outdoor pool is a must for the family which has infant, junior and senior pools, so suits everybody. Even better on a red-hot day like it was when we were there! The town of Alston is just a small drive away with its steam railway and nice market style shops / cafe etc. There is electric hook-ups, waste disposal points / stand pipes in close proximity to the pitches, always clean and well maintained.I will definitely be re-visiting this site before the end of summer this year.

21/05/04 Nice open field, quite full with 9 or so other tents with a big space in the middle for the kids to play safely. Showers and loos fairly basic but very clean. A chappie came round the night before to take orders for sunday papers, eggs and jam!! Little park for kids and lots of midges!

May and June 2003 We visited this site twice this year. Each time the owners could not have been more helpful and friendly. The toilets and showers are always clean. The park and football pitch with goals kept our two children occupied all weekend.
We would definately go back again.
