We have just returned from a short break at this site. We were welcomed and directed to our generous level space, and shown the adjacent tap, electric point and fire extinguisher. Having a bit of trouble with the tent in the wind the owner came and added an extra pair of hands to get the tent up before it rained!
The site is spotlessly clean and the toilet block is central, the showers have ample hot water at only 20p for 5 minutes. Dog and child friendly, with a good pub just up the road, it was ideal for us. Didn't need a shop so can't say what there is close by.
Within easy distance for the south lakes, steam train and steamers, but sufficiently rural so we didn't feel crowded or rushed. Just off the main road for easy access but in a dip so no traffic noise to worry about.
Would certainly recommend this site and will go back again.

This is a brilliant site and we booked again the day after we got home.
The site was well maintained and litter-free and the shower block was always clean and dry and well lit! It is 20p for 5 minutes in the shower which was my only criticism as I never seemed to have any 20 pence's. I have stayed at other sites where the showers were free of charge but admittedly not as clean.
The owners were extremely welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a great time, offering advice with local attractions and ferry and train times.
It is a very relaxed, family-friendly site with a strict no-noise policy after 11.00pm which is ideal for people with young children.
I would recommend this site whole-heartedly to anyone who wants a nice quiet break with easy access to the lakes and a wonderful cafe less than 5 minutes car drive away for a hearty hot breakfast!

We have just spent 4 days here and we cannot wait to go back again. The owners were really friendly and very welcoming, showing us around the campsite, the showers were always kept clean as was the laundry room. The site is very easy to find and well sign posted once off the main road, there were families as well as couples in tents vans and campers. The showers were 20p for 5 mins so for about 40p you could have a good shower which I thought was not bad at all, the water was always piping hot. The owners always ensured that everything was spick and span. Dogs are made welcome as long as they are well behaved and kept on a lead. The Charges for the camp fees we thought was very good: for three people in the folding camper with electric hook up £48 for the three nights. I would recommend this site and we will be visiting again in the very near future.

This site is in a great location, ideal for visiting the Lakes with very good road access. The site itself is picturesque and the owners were very friendly and helpful.
When booking a tent it is worth asking for a level pitch as we were on quite a slope (most pitches were level but we were probably in the overflow).
The toilet block was adequate; large and clean but take loads of 20p's as the showers, washing-up and dryers all need them. A few ladies struggled with the coin slots and had cold showers but that may have been repaired.

Have to agree with the allen review. If you are a camper, fantastic! not very good for touring vans though, we were parked on what looked to be a graveled drive way, which traffic drove past far too fast, we could not sit outside the front of our van for fear of being knocked over or covered in dust! we had a down pour of rain the one evening and our friends found a stream running through there awing.
We also noticed an awful smell coming from the drains which happened to be very close to where we were parked, so as you may have guessed we didn't stay too long, in fact we had paid for 5 nights and left after 3! Shame though because the site owners were very friendly and would of done anything for you, but we felt the problems we had could not have easily been sorted out?
The toilet block was very clean and always tidy and the showers were 20p for exactly 5 minutes!

Arrived to a very warm and helpful welcome.'new' owners are extremely helpful and make sure that you are set up.
Site itself, very nicely set out, majority statics, but you would never know it as they are mostly hidden within the grounds.
Nice areas for both Caravans / campers and tents alike with Electric hook-ups for the tents also.
Adequate toilets and washing facilities, chemical waste point, fresh water point, and waste disposal bin.
Even though quite close to a main road (for those of you looking on google earth) you barely know it is there, and night times are very quiet, with a strict nonoise policy after 11pm, which is great.
Site is situated just south of Lake Windermere, and is in very easy reach of Newby Bridge, Grizedale (excelent for mountain biking of all abilities), Bowness on Windermere, Ambleside, Hawkshead and many other places which are excelent for walking, hiking, climbing, shopping, eating out and all sorts of adventures.
Site could benefit from a play area for kids, but they are limited with space to put one. And would also benefit from a few more 'night lights' to help you find yourself around the site when returning to your accomodation.
Will definitely try to return again, recommended site. A***

I found this site to be very quiet indeed, nothing on site only toilets / showers, laundry room which I must say had a smell of blocked drains as you walked in. The camp site area was nice but at night there is no lighting at all only at the toilet block, so you need to take a torch with you to go to the loo. The owners seemed nice and friendly, but they do go around at night to make sure everyone is in bed before midnight. Outside the camp there is a garage 1 mile away, but you need to be early if you want bread or milk as everyone goes here because there is nothing else around for miles. There is a pub about 20 mins walk its is very quiet though and you would have to walk in pitch black to get home. Lakeside is about 3 miles away, from there you can go on a ferry or steam train to bowness.

This site remains a real gem, set in beautiful picturesque countryside in a good position for touring the South Lakes.
The site is quiet and the young staff were friendly and helpful. The showers, 20p for 5 minutes, were hot and adequate although there was an unpleasant odour around the chemical toilet disposal point and around the ladies toilet area. Hopefully, this problem will soon be rectified and the site will continue to offer an excellent base for a quiet, relaxing holiday. The site would also benefit from having better information signs / message points ie Signs for waste bags, obtaining hot water for washing up etc. However, we would certainly return again in the future.

Lovely site with very friendly, helpful staff. Compact site so never far from water, toilet and shower block, etc. Level pitches. Enjoyed stay very much. Only slight problem was nowhere to put clothes when showering so had to sling them over the top of the cubicle. Wouldn't stop me returning.

I visited this site (found by chance at the last minute) with my young son (aged 2) and husband. We stayed in an 8 berth tent.
The owners were very helpful and gave good advice on places to visit and walk etc.
The site itself was lovely. We enjoyed it so much we came back again the weekend after and stayed another two days.
The site is very well located for visiting all the Lakes has to offer and the facilities are clean and adequate.
There were several toilets and showers and walk in sink units to freshen up.
We were lucky to get the weather and the site had lovely views and was excellent for sitting outside looking at the views over a BBQ and glass of wine in the evening.
We have now bought a caravan and couldn't remember the name of this site to book again so actually went looking for it this weekend and found it (again by chance as the new road has been built now and things have changed since last year). Unfortunately it is currently closed, but we will be booking in the next few weeks when it opens now we have the name and number and will hopefully spend a few weekends here again this year.
Well recommended.
