We found this site entirely by accident and were very pleasantly surprised. It is a gorgeous place to stay. The owner was extremely helpful and accommodating. We had the misfortune at arriving during an orienteering week and most sites were fully booked, but the owner still took the time to find somewhere for us. The toilet and shower facilities were more than adequate and kept very nicely, as was the laundrette. The site is well tended and has been extended in recent years. The main tent area is around a mound and near the toilets, but there is a further field set aside for overflow. The Caravan/Motor-home area is nicely laid out on hard-standing which from the looks of the awnings doesn't stop pegs being hammered in. The price for our tent was £10 per night. This is more than reasonable for the area as our tent is a large 3 room 9 person tent off a central dome area and all other sites were charging about £15 per night. I would highly recommend this site and having found it, am planning to take my family back again. It's location is in a prime spot for visiting anywhere in the lake district, being only 20 minutes from Kendal (for Morrison's supermarket) and Bowness, 10 minutes away from the Ferry's, and in an excellent position to make excursions around the south and west coasts. Keswick is about 90 minutes away and make a pleasant trip out.

July 2004 We've visited this site for the past 10 years and found it a well presented and clean site. Well situated for traveling around the Lake District and all local areas. The owners Mr & Mrs scott are friendly and welcoming and try to accommodate whatever your needs. And we will be visiting once again this year, (ding dang do)

August 2003 I have to agree this is a well laid out site for tenters. A pleasant camping field and the facilities were clean and tidy. However, the area for caravans was nothing more than a gravel driveway down the edge of the field, terminating in what I can only describe as a turning circle under trees, also used for parking caravans. "Parking" being the word as we felt we were in a car park. It was not a pleasant site to sit outside your van of an evening. They do have disabled facilities, but when we asked we were told they had not been used for two years, and needed cleaning. We insisted, and they were cleaned for use. However no chair was provided for sitting to dress, and we were told we were the first to ask for this. Strange?? We left after 3 days although we had paid for 6.
To be fair, if you are a tenter and do not require disabled facilities, then it is a good site at only £10 a night with electric.

august 2003 A very friendly & well ordered site. Very popular with families, the kids can be a bit noisy in the early evening, but they quieten down around dusk. The facilities are pretty good, if showing some wear and tear, plenty of space, hot water (20p for a hot shower) and reasonably priced at £10 per night -- High season. 7/10, and we will return.
