Had my doubts about this site from the other reviews I'd read but decided to give it a try and thought that on the whole its a pretty good camp site.
It has an over 18's room and a good size family room which had entertainment on both nights that we were there (no extra charge). Theres a decent size swimming pool, an amusements arcade, pool tables, shop, launderette and take away.
The pitches are flat and spacious although a nightmare to get pegs in. The warden was on the whole helpful but on one night allowed some noisy campers to keep the rest of us awake for most of the night. The shower block was adequate but not the cleanest. Forget the beach, you have to climb over bricks and concrete rubble to get to it and then its just muddy sand. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful and drinks and food prices were about average. Also they've removed the metering from the hook-ups and at £17 a night offers great value.

Just got back from a weekend at Ocean Edge. For £17 p/night with EHU it was was great value for money, and this included your passes for the club, they did charge for the pool and sauna. The site was great the pitch we had was a sea view, the toilets wasn't that bad, showers were nice and hot. We have to leave a £20 deposit for the showers/toilets. There was a warden on site that was friendly and made sure you were on the correct pitch, which was good as some sites let you pitch where you want. The club was good the for the kids and there was an indoor arcade and swimming pool although we didn't use the pool it looked a decent size. We will definitely be going back. Kids had a great time down on the beach, if you have young tots be carefull as there was a steep and rocky decent to the sea where we were, further round the site you can get onto the beach safer.

The pitch was very rocky but our tent pegs werent the best but has made us buy better ones now for future. First time on electric hook up as all pitches were EHU, so pitches were very regimented compared to what we are used to. The camp warden was very friendly and was always walking around. We went into the clubhouse but was VERY busy and very hot so we didnt stay that long. We had to pay £20.00 for the toilet key and gate pass but this was refundable. Toilets were very dirty and floors very slippy but it was throwing it down all the time we were there :) All in all I dont think I would stay there again but it wasnt as bad as previous people have mentioned so maybe they have taken notice of their reviews.

Not a nice place to stay at all, the other reviews of 2 power stations heysham 1 + 2 are spot on as well as the building waste dumped on the shore line. They ask for money for pass card for gate and key for toilet and you have to pay for club passes as well. The pitch we booked was already half taken by another unit and the ground is a real problem to get a peg into. We were packed in like battery hens caravans and tents together (had a real bad nights sleep late night noise and somebody snoring in a tent next to us. You have to get into the club house early as it fills up rapid. The eating area is quite large and to be honest looked really good, the children's entertainer (a clown) was one of the best I've seen, really good with the kids and everyone got to win something. Shop is quite well supplied and not too expensive. Bar prices are the usual more than the pub price. The toilets are dire did not see them get cleaned at all and were demolished by loads of yobs at night I refused to let my children use them and made them use the disabled one.on the lucky side we won the house bingo and got £125 quid back which paid for the trip and I bought a porta potti out of it so I don't have to use toilets like that ever again Would I go again.no Would I recommend it. No

Views to the sea are alright if you don't look at the builders dumping ground on the so called cliff top! Also avoid looking at the giant battery nuclear power station right in front of you! Toilets and showers were dirty, the pitch was uneven and more like a swamp! After one night we moved off the site to find somewhere a bit more habitable.

Very poor site ground uneven difficult to put awnings up due to touring site built on rubble. Toilet block shabby dirty and not maintained main door into gents toilets hanging on one hinge, shower head had to be jammed between pipes as there was no attachment for it, also children playing around toilet block, rubbish bins around site always full and when eventually some of them were emptied rubbish was left all over the ground. It is not mentioned when booking that you have to pay £30 for a toilet key and barrier swipe card and even though we had booked electric hook up we had to buy electric swipe cards at a £1 each. The beach was inaccessible no path down over the rubble.Site very exposed and windy. Please read the other reviews.

Well what can I say Went for a week and had to pay up front £75 which included passes to the club so we could use swimming pool bars etc. We got there then had to pay £30 refundable deposit for toilet and barrier keys. When we got to the camp site there was no way we was going to pitch our tent in that wind as you are right on the sea front then the ground was loaded with bent tent pegs and broken plasteic ones so after an hour of driving round thinking about where to pitch we gave up went back to reception and paid an extra £100 for a caravan even the staff agreed it isnt a site for tents so if you value your tent dont bother. We had a good time in the end but not in a tent as we wanted.

Not a bad site really nice and close to morcambe which has a good sea front. We were at the top of the hill in a caravan our friends were in a tent. Was a nice pitch for us as we were over looking the sea hence the name ocean edge. Got a bit blustery with the weather but you cant expect anything else felt really sorry for our mates though we had to rescue them in the middle of the night as their tent got shredded with the wind so best not to pitch a tent near the edge. You can walk down onto the beach sort of a little trek down the side of the steep hill but you will be ok if you take your time. Kids loved the beach. There are amusements which can cost a packet but we went out to morcambe and St Annes which is lovely. There are quite a few older kids about to keep the smaller ones amused there is a play area but its down the hill from where we were pitched and didnt like the kids walking that far on their own.

Just got back from ocean edge, my husband and I spent a week there and can honestly say we will not be going back. To start with the camping site is horrible, The ground was so hard we couldn't even get are tent pegs in the ground. They all bent and are awning fell down about 4 times because it was so windy, all we heard all night where people banging there tent pegs in trying to keep there tents up. Then I should point out that there are added extras you have to pay when you arrive at ocean edge, 1) you have to pay a £10 refundable deposit for a barrier key. 2), you have to pay a £40 refundable toilet key, so if you go in a tent you will have to use a bucket or pay for the toilet key 3) If you wish to use the club bar or swimming baths there is a £18 charge each for the week or if you just want to use the club for a drink you can pay just £2 a night to enter the club but you only have to pay when there is entrainment on, 4) you also have to buy a electric card if you have hook up there £1 or £5. all these are NOT stated on the web site or booking booklet so be aware to take plenty of cash if you decided to go to ocean edge. I should also add that the site it's self is sitting right next door to a nuclear power station and you are all like sardine's in a tin can talk about rack, stack and pack you. Good luck to you all if you decided to go to ocean edge but I defo will not be going back again.

Don't believe the brochures for this site, Mainly a static site with the tourers a short walk away from the main complex. Toilets \ showers are a joke, a mess and kids are always playing in and around them so the area is always wet through, The 'beach' isn't really and is only accessible by climbing over tons of building waste (still there). No real pitch layout and if you arrive later than most you end up with a rough, scabby patch to squeeze your outfit onto. Most entertainment is extra and the main reception staff treat you like you shouldn't be there. Spent most of our time in morecombe, but there's not much to do without spend, spend. Our best trip out was to Lancaster, Visit the castle explore the town, Loads to see and do. Sorry but can't recommend this site, It really does need some organisation and money spending on the touring site
