We have just returned home from a weekend away in our tourer at the Ocean Edge site. We had to pay for our electricity on a meter — something not mentioned when we booked. The toilet block was filthy. We had no electricity one night and were told not to disturb the warden as he is 83 and has a weak heart. The drains backed up and raw sewage was flooding onto the grass, underneath awnings and caravans, I was forever telling my children to watch where they stood because of the human waste all over the grass. The clubhouse was in a disgusting state — litter everywhere, kids left to run riot, disinterested staff. We came away for a relaxing weekend, we came back feeling ill.

Spent 3 nights here at a cost of 70 pounds, Electric was extra, but in the end we didnt need it as there was enough elctricity already on meter. Site was a little bit rough and ready, not one for the caravan purist. They have a very helpul site Warden who was always on hand in the event of any problems. There are 2 big Nuclear power stations dominate the right hand skyline and spoil the look of Morecambe bay. The coastal edge of the site is spoiled by what looks to be builders rubble scattered everywhere. The toilet blocks leave alot to be desired although they are cleaned every morning. The club house on the site is fantastic but you need to be in their very early to get a seat. The swimming pool and indoor play area are both superb.
Be aware this place does attract the odd unsavory character, be prepared for lots of drunken noise at night!

Visited first weekend in April. The cost was £35 for two nights. When we arrived (7pm) the office was closed & received our arrival pack at the bar. As we drove round to our allocated pitch we found it already taken despite most of the field vacant. We eventually found the touring park warden, an eldery gent who went on to find us another. We then found that the electric hook-ups had a card meter which we had to pay for.
After setting the 'van up we, and our 3 kids, made for the family room for an evening's entertainment only to find that we had to pay! The cost was £2 for adults & £1 for children. This is our 2nd year camping & caravanning and have never had to pay to gain entry to any site's club house.
The site is on the edge of the 'sea' - the next day we found that the site is adjacent to the wide sandy / muddy flats and if the sea does come in then we never saw it. The edge of the 'beach' is littered with tons of building rubble and couldn't make out if this was some sort of cheap sea break or a demolition site dump.
There was 1 toilet / washing block for the touring site which was average. At the far end of the touring section were a couple of abandoned caravans 1 of which had been smashed up with glass all over the place. We did take the matter of the 'extra' payments (electric / club house entry fees) up with the office staff but were told this was correct. We pointed out that £35 was steep to say the least and especially as it was supposed to be low season - the response: it was high season as the children had been off school that week (the fact we had gone at weekend and that children were always off anyway every weekend didn't matter).
The site itself can do with tidying up too. The only real positive thing was the touring park warden who couldn't do enough for us.

Is as described, on the ocean edge! Family park caters for everyone. excellent club regular entertainment. I'm afraid the shower / toiletblocks let the touring section down, they left a lot to be desired, and didn't match up to the blurb. There was some building work in progress when we visited, looks like they're expanding the static park.

This site is very much over rated. It was 2 hours plus before I got on my pitch and this was with prior booking, it is a free for all where people pitch even though you are allocated a pitch number causing a complete muck up on arrival after a long journey. The staff on reception were generally rude and unhelpful. The site is dirty and bins over full thus making people dump bin bags letting the birds have a free for all.
Access to beach not good no proper path rough and rocky. The 'Beach' is actually made from sand and mud and really not a beach at all plus it was open to the sea cat route that woke the kids up at 10.30 every night and if that didn't do it the nuclear power station next door with it's big flood lights finished the job. The toilets etc were all well run down

Very large site - busy and noisy. Good range of entertainment facilties but site dirty and poorly kept. Washrooms/toilets poor. Seemingly aimed at cravanners - facilities for campers generally poor for such a large site. Lower pitches poorly drained and very rough ground. We left a day early and won't be returning!
