Site on a slight slope, so you need to pick your space carefully.
Facilities good, although I will admit I do feel like I am treated like a second rate citizen as a camper, when we are only trusted to have showers that have a 'timed press button'. They were a bit too hot for my young children so it annoys me that you can't be trusted to adjust the temp(I have found this on several sites though). They ran out of toilet paper a lot, and toilets were rather wet. They were never closed, so they were not just used by tourers, shame really.
There is definitely animosity between owners and campers, in fact some were really rather rude, so avoid camping anywhere near them!
There is a cashpoint on site (charges £1. 75) and shop is well stocked. They will also freeze icepacks for you. No EHU is a bit daft considering the quality of all the other facilities.
Good entertainment, kids well catered for.
Restaurant was very slow service, but food was good quality.
We will return, but only if we can avoid owners!

Well arrived Friday to be told not on our requested pitch even though we requested it as we have a German Shepherd and long caravan that we didn't want near the football pitch. Instead we were in the middle where everyone just walks through even at 12midnight on way home from bar.
Toilets security number given however door was open all weekend so used by kids from statics as well as tourers and campers, they insist on cleaning them at 9 am when everyone is using them, have to say reasonably clean on this visit.
Son age 9 loves the astro pitch and was not seen all weekend.
There is a bit of a owners versus tourers/campers attitude on this site, witnessed more than once which is ironic as inlaws own a static on Sundrum.
The meal on the Friday was ok however Saturdays meal was a disaster and mother in law said they had the same issue the week before.
Daughter age 11 bought chips from on site chip shop and brought them into the club ready to go home an attendant shouted at her saying takeaway food not allowed after saying we were finishing our drinks and going another member of staff approached and shouted at us again. This was the same attitude we got from staff all weekend.
Maybe these sites aren't for us if you like haven go for it.

Just returned from Sundrum Castle after 3 days camping 8th July, with wife and nearly 4yr old son. We had a great time, quick check in,
Pitching area just round the corner, literally seconds drive from reception, we drove to the car park at the top of the pitch area as it was closer to where we wanted the tent pitched,
There is a football area just at the bottom of the tent area and the ball went astray many a time hitting the cars on a few occasions.
The pitching area can be a bit slope here and there but other than that it was fine, we used the Hi Gear Voyager 6 and the tent area looked like a Hi Gear convention.
The camp site has a very cosy feel to it all the areas of interest ie utility block, pool, entertainment areas and the children's play area/crazy golf is directly opposite the camping area, our son loved it, as did all the kids and its at the side of the restaurant so you get peace to eat the great food, while the wee ones are in and out
Don't let that worry you as we had no problems with noise from the entertainment area, as the cabaret/disco area is on the farthest point from the camping area,
The utility block was clean and tidy, men's toilet/shower area was constantly clean, showers were lovely and warm just takes a few pushes of the button to get the heat through, and pretty powerful.
Wife mentioned the ladies area a little wet, but due to users not closing shower doors properly also not a lot of tissue paper in the toilet cubicle no such problems in the gents,
Dish washing area has 2 sinks so pick your times but you can see from tent area if anyone is in washing up through the Windows.
We are looking at going back this weekend for our sons 4th birthday as the children's entertainment is excellent.
We thought it a little pricey for no EHU, be aware there is no cash machine on site, not even the the ones that charge you and you can only switch if its over a tenner and they don't do cash back, cash machine is under 10 min drive, just a minor grumble, we will be back.

Stayed for one night at the end of July 2011. Staff were very helpful with directions to the site and very polite and informative at reception.
We took full advantage of the swimming pool, which was very quiet and very clean. It is very well managed and they only allow a set number in the pool at any one time for safety.
On site is a well-stocked shop, swimming pool, hot food take away and bar. Plenty of space on the tent field and very close to toilet block and entertainment.
It was just under £32 for two adults in any size tent. Site did go quiet at around 11 o'clock however was a bit noisy before this, so not great for adults with small children.

Usually go in the tent however decided to hire a static due to poor weather. Site and static very clean. Staff helpful and friendly. Tourist information could have been better.
Found out places to go by using internet. Good ice skating and swimming at magnun centre at irvince about 30 mins away. Downloaded voucher off internet and got 2 for 1 for skating at a very good size rink. Visited the garage at kilmarnock.
My teenage boys went karting there on a indoor track,a little too fast for my liking but they enjoyed it and at 19 pounds for 62 laps each not bad value. They also do bowling at the garage.
A bit disappointed with culzean castle it was more like a stateley home than a castle, however the grounds were very nice. Went to a little cove called maidens beach which was very pleasant.
Thought ayr a little run down but enjoyed the scenery at galloway around loch ken area

Stayed here for 8 nights and had a great time. The facilities are excellent, with good pub and restaurant, well stocked shop, swimming pool and kids entertainment during the day and in the evening, and also Adult entertainment in the evening. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The park also has a playpark which is great for the kids, and the toilets were always clean.
The only real issue I had with the site was the length of the pitches. We have a 7.9m (External) caravan and the first pitch they gave us it was sticking about 5ft onto the road, so I asked for another pitch, so they sent us to pitch 3. This pitch was no bigger but there was nothing behind us so we just hung out over the back of the pitch, but I did have to remove the pitch number fence post to allow us to get the length. Pitches are concrete with gravel beside for parking or awning, and getting the caravan positioned right on the edge of the concrete to allow us to put up the awning was quite difficult.
If you visit this site I recommend that if possible you don't ask for pitches 2, 3 or 4 unless you like your caravan getting battered with footballs half a dozen times a day as these pitches are right behind the football area. The site was also a little rowdy after 11pm when the weather was nice, but this was just people enjoying themselves.
Ayr is very close where you can find all the amenities and also a Tesco's and Asda's. If you have kids then Louden Castle, Pirate Pete's and the Heads of Ayr Farm Park are all highly recommended, and the girls at reception are more than happy to give you directions

Although my review for this site is for September,I actually visited it a few times through out the year. I find this site to be excellent it has great facilities including a well stocked shop a nice bar and restaurant a swimming pool and a fenced in play area next to the touring site and an all weather football pitch,it even boast a chipshop.
Its safe for the kids to play, the showers and toilets are kept spotless and the staff are very friendly.
if your looking for somewhere isolated and quiet this probably is not the place for you though. The last time I went, a friend came down with his kids and although he used a tent he was really impressed and his kids loved it.We are already making plans for a return next year.

Just came back from six night stay, it was really good. The weather was not that great but we all had a good time. The site was really clean and where the tents were it was close to everything. The staff were really friendly and the toilets were very clean. The club for the kids was good and the night life was ok, and the staff were really good with the kids. I will be going back next year hope the weather is better

Sundrum Castle for May Holiday Weekend. Not disappointed although as previous posts say pitches are quite close together - didn't affect us as we don't have awning. Touring pitches location great if you have kids - just next to playpark, sports court and bar. Kids spent whole weekend cycling round the touring area, playing football and in the park.
Swimming pool was good - warm and the small flume excellent for young kids. Entertainment at night was fine - not too loud.
Day trip to Farm park at heads of Ayr - was quite expensive to get in but lots to do both inside and out. Kids loved it.
All in all well worth it and will be back.

Parkdean have allegedly spent close on 2 million pounds on the touring site at Sundrum Castle during the winter of 2007/2008, IMHO they ought to have kept the money in their pocket! While the touring area looks good let me assure these looks are only skin deep!
Each concreted caravan pitch has an area of red chips to the side into which it is IMPOSSIBLE to drive a tent peg! The sites are so closely packed that when almost full it is not possible to manouver a caravan onto the site without asking neighobours to move their cars out of the way.
The newly built toilet block has only 2 WC's and 2 showers to accomodate the entire site, further, the toilets were not cleaned once during our Friday to Monday weekend resulting in a flooded, dirty, muddy smelly toilet. The 4 commercial type wheelie bins were also left un-emptied over the entire weekend resulting in the 4 bins overflowing and spilling rubbish over the entire campsite.
This was NOT our first visit to Sundrum, we have visited on many occasions in the past and have always had a great time there but it seems to me that these 'improvements' have been made with no thought given to the practicalities of caravaning or camping.
On the positive side Sundrum does have lots to offer, an excellent swimming pool with Flume, very comfortable bar and restaurant, very nice walks around the site, the County town of Ayr is only a 5 minute drive away and culzean castle ( a MUST see!) is only 15 minutes by car.
