The touring pitches are small and stuck in a corner, the site (in october) was a mudbath. On site the concrete flags were poorly laid , leaving large muddy puddles. There was not enough hardstanding on the pitches, so a few were stuck. The entertainment was good for the kids in the bar and the pool was clean and tidy. I would not take a shower. The place was filthy and the domestic -style shower doors and electric showers were poor. The showers toilets need a complete refurb five years ago. We will not be back

Well, what can I say about this site. Bit of a mixed emotions. It is a nice site. Away from the main road, so no noisy cars. Just some planes in the distance from Prestwick Airport. Kept nice & tidy. The pitches are hard standing with electric hook-up. Fresh water tap is at the side of the toilet block, which is situated next to the touring pitches. The toilets & showers were not too bad. Could maybe do with being upgraded. The showers were warm, but the gents lacked water pressure and my wife was getting sick of having to push the button in every ten seconds to switch the shower on. Lovely swimming pool, which has a flume to keep the kids AND adults amused. Nice shop on site which seems to have most things that you would need. Also fish & chip shop if you can`t be bothered cooking. You also get a nice meal in the Tam O`Shanter Bar which is reasonably priced. The bar also has a seating area outside to enjoy those nice sunny days. This is also situated next to the mini crazy golf and the outdoor play area so you can keep an eye on the kids while you have a nice cold drink. On certain nights you get entertainment in the Tam O`Shanters. Kintyres is another bar on the site. During the day fun & games for the children were held here. Then in the evening you had bingo, followed by more fun & games for the kids and then the evening entertainment. Between the two bars is the amusements, so take plenty of cash. Security personnel are present at the front of the complex in the evening. The down side was the sports court. This is situated next to the touring pitches. We were kept awake at night with kids screaming and the thudding of footballs. And then woken at the back of seven in the morning with more thudding of footballs. Ayr town centre is about a 10 min drive with a wide variety of shops. And the market at the racecourse is a must. It was huge. We also took a trip up to Loudon Castle, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed. They thought it was better than M&D`s. You also have Burns`s Cottage just outside Ayr. The beach on the other side of the town centre is a mile long and is cleaned regularly. Nice view of Arran which you can get a ferry to from the terminal at the far and of the beach. If the sports court wasn`t so close to the tourers we probably would go back.

May 2005 Hiya, well went back, and a few things have changed! New security door on toilet block made the world of difference, and also visable security. Kids chased from playing around amenity area and cleared from sports court after 10.30pm. This really made a big difference (sports court was right behind our pitch both times). We will now definately go back!

April 2005 Just back from our first visit to this site. Kids aged 7 and 11 had a fab time at the kids club, disco and in the play park, not much for the grumpy teen to do as teen club doesnt run til summer. Pitches all hardstanding and some very level. Washing up area very good, choice of three large sinks, also somewhere you could prepare veg, or do a small handwash. Laundry a fair size with three washers and dryers. Ladies toilet was always very clean and water always very hot! Showers occasionaly gave a burst of very cold water. However gents toilet not as good and no real security around this area (until I closed the door properly and only accessable with security code given to all tourers).
Two bars on site, one serving a very good choice of food at decent prices, also a large area for sitting with a few drinks, other where the nightly entertainment is held so you do have a choice. Shop well stocked with fresh pastries and bread every day, huge range of sweets and ice creams and good choice in general.
