Liked) Very friendly staff & fellow campers and the lady who runs the place-Mrs Mowatt-is lovely.

Faultlessly clean facilities, the site is within half a mile of the main A90 Dundee to Aberdeen dual carriageway so it's very easy to find.

Some may complain about the noise at such close proximity to a trunk route with heavy traffic that might as well be a motorway in all but name but I personally hardly noticed it and what you can hear is more than cancelled out by all the things this site does well.

In addition, the site is very reasonably priced (pitching my tent cost me a whole £8) and in conjunction with its other plus points, I will definitely be making another visit.

Disliked) Not really anything of note, other than that the site doesn't open in winter so when I come back next, it won't be until spring at the earliest.

This site has one static caravan to rent. It has 3 bedrooms and is spacious and very clean. The site is attractive but the road can be heard which would put me off staying here in a tent.

The riverside walk is lovely. Our kids enjoyed the games room with table tennis, pool table, books, and board games available.

There's also a football area and swings. The site is kept pristine and the lady who runs the place is lovely. We felt very welcome and comfortable and everyone on site was friendly.

The site is in a fantastic situation for seeing all the best that Scotland has to offer; from pretty fishing villages such as Johnshaven, stunning beaches such as St Cyrus, the forests around Edzell, and stunning scenery into the Grampian mountains.

We visited Pictavia next to Brechin which is fascinating and great value. There is an excellent park there and our kids loved the bouncy pillows!

There is more pictish history to be explored all over the area including at a free museum at Montrose, and fantastic standing stones of Aberlemno. At Montrose beach there is another excellent playarea and kids (and adults) spent hours playing there! Lovely area.

I just wish the site was more suitable for tents. However we would love to book the static again!

Considering that this site is so close to the busy A90 it was peaceful and very pretty. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and take pride in keeping the numerous grassed areas well cut.

There is a lovely riverside walk and plenty of space for dog walkers. The site was quiet at this time of year and the shower block was like a private bathroom. The shower and toilet block is a bit dated but spotlessly clean and well stocked.

The site is only a short drive down a very straight side road to the pretty village of Edzell with its castle, golf course, cafe and shops.

There are some very good walks in this area, especially Loch Lee in Glen Esk and The Blue Door Walk starting through the blue door just outside the village on the road to Fettercairn. Fettercairn has the Ramsey Arms which serves good food and real ale. The distillery is also worth a visit.

The Pictavia Centre at Brechin Castle garden centre just a few miles south down the A90 is interesting and the Caledonian Railway in Brechin runs trips to the Bridge of Dun on the steam train.

We shall certainly use this site again if we are in the area.

We needed a campsite near family for a special occasion and this site was the nearest.

The site is near the motorway but set far enough back. You can hear it but after an hour you don't notice it as it wasn't too loud to start with, so ends up fairly quiet and peaceful there.

The site is well maintained pitching our 5 man tent was fairly easy.

The site had a limited shop but it had all that was required a few sweets and drinks as you were only 15-20mins away from the nearest Tescos

The walk for dogs was really good part leaded so other people could walk it without fear of dogs jumping at them but also part that allowed dogs to have some freedom.

Facilities were fine a small play park to keep the kids amused.

My only gripe was that the showers took a while to heat up.

It lost a few points on confusion on pitch borders as markers were hard to see.

Overall it is a lovely site and pricing very reasonable. When we go back up there to meet the family again we will be using this site again for sure.

We visited this site during the kids Autumn holiday, from school.

The site is close to the A90 Dundee to Aberdeen dual carriageway which makes it ideal for visiting different places.

The facilities were well kept and although the toilet and shower blocks didn't have heating they were adequate for what you need. You don't go on holiday in a caravan to spend your time in the loo.

The site was lovely, peaceful and well kept. Adele and her daughter were very helpful and friendly and were able to recommend different places for eating etc. We nevcer got a chance to speak to Adele's husband but he was always out and about cutting grass and working around the site.

There was a small playpark for the kids which ours found in the first 10 minutes and loved getting in amongst it.

Brechin is only 10 minutes drive down the dualler and Aberdeen is about 45 minutes. Small towns, round about, include Edzell and Fettercairn. Fettercairn is where we visited the distillery and Edzell had an even bigger play park for the young ones. Glen Esk is 5 minutes away and if you are into walking it is brilliant. If not it is peaceful.

All in all, we think, for the price of this site (which is very reasonable), Dovecot was brilliant and we will definitely be back.

Lovely park and very well maintained. Although noise comes from the main road, it is still peaceful and tranquil. Pitch flat and grassy with picnic tables dotted around. Shower facilities a bit dated but very clean as is the rest of the park.

Alongside the park is a beautiful walk along a river which was great after we'd all got sunburnt! There was a table tennis in the reception and a limited stocked shop but Montrose is only a 10 minute drive away. Edzell is near as well.

My only gripe is that there is a gate which is locked after 9pm and our friends had visited in their campervan and were trapped, I think this could be an issue should emergency services need access. We tried phoning but no answer!

Overall it is a lovely site and I will return. It is well signposted on dual carriageway so easy to find, and pitched very cheap!
