I stayed here for 2 nights in July with our tent and 3 children aged 1, 4 and 7.
Initially as you drive into the site, you can be overwhelmed with static caravans. However, don't be put off, as the allocated space for caravans and tents is in a beautiful lush field with mature trees, next to a meandering river beyond the statics and hiding behind trees.
Electric and water posts are situated every 4 pitches. The showers are super warm, and there is a fantastic children's play area at the far end of the camping field (well away from the main entrance), so reasonably safe as long as they are not drawn to the nearby river!
We also liked the environmental friendly aspect of this site - bug hotels, compost bins, rain water butts as well as beautiful flowers and plants.
In the washing up area, there is also a free book library, which is a nice touch.

Yes we enjoyed our stay in the wonderful country side the kids had everything to keep them busy leaving us time to enjoy our stay. We were lucky with the weather and had a great couple of days so it was easy to keep the van tidy with the children in and out. The facilities were excellent for our family. A lovely stay and we didn't have to leave the site to enjoy ourselves.
Thankyou

Just back from Riverbend. We have found a little piece oh heaven, never have we felt so relaxed so much so that we didn't feel the need to leave the site very often. We stayed a week and took our 2 dogs,
The showers/toilet block were very clean the site is beautiful, lots of wildlife and wild flowers,
The river is lovely as is the little tea rooms on the main road accessible from the site.
The staff were very helpful also. I cant find any fault anywhere. We will be going back next year.

Had a lovely weekend at riverbend
Warm welcome
Toilets and showers clean
Very quiet site till early morning with the crows, but didn't bother us as I was awake before them one morning and was very tempted to wake them
Definitely going back, going to book for four weeks time
Pub just outside site was very, good excellent food, got different rooms, some for eating, some for just drinking only. Down side, no dogs were allowed
You can travel any where from site, Barmouth not too far away, where we had a lovely day out

This is a very pretty, quiet and well kept camp site, geared mainly to the large number of static caravans and tourers permanently sited there. That said however, we were welcomed and shown to a large flat pitch close to the small children's park.
You are asked not to park on the grass but the lady who showed us to our pitch was quite happy to allow us to park on the grass to unload. However, we didn't need to as we pitched close to the parking area (one of two large areas that I saw). Not parking on the grass seemed to make sense - the grass wasn't ploughed up when it rained (and boy can it rain here!) and the site looked prettier because of it.
The shower block was basic but clean. The showers were hot and powerful - my kids were more than happy to have showers - something they normally resist!
The only down side is that you are quite away from any shops (the nearest village is 11 mins away, Welshpool 25 mins) which is awkward when you run out of anything. There is a van that comes around beeping its horn in early evening, this sells some basics.
Lake Vrynwy is worth a visit - the scenery is breathtaking. If you visit, try eating at the Old Barn Cafe near the dam. The owners grow their own fruit and veg and use it in their home cooking - delicious!
Overall,a site to be recommended.

Very peaceful and quiet site.
Excellent value for money £17.50pn inc EHU, we have v.Large tent and no extra charge as at some sites. Went just for w/e.
Beautifully kept, flower pots and beds etc in full bloom and well maintained.
We went with our 2 kids (5+15), only a few other children on site.
Lovely wooden climbing frame/playarea and our 5yr old loved paddling in the shallow river.
Maybe take insect repellent as some midges in evening, not a major problem as we had some and taken citron candles.
Feel site mainly for older people although states in booklet on arrival children welcome over age 15!
Site was full but not busy as pitches occupied by units used as season pitches, with a lot being empty during our stay in August
You have to park in nearby tarmac area, plenty space, don't know if there would be if all units were occupied though.
I liked it as our 5yr old could play on the grass without the fear that cars would be driving up next to their tent/van.
Toilets and showers great (4 toilets,2 showers) all clean and plenty hooks etc. No extra charge for showers.
Small wash-up area (2 sinks).
Plenty bins, hook-ups, water points.
A milk van turned up in evening, tooting his horn and had milk, bread, cheese, yoghurt on sale.
A fair drive to Welshpool (lovely town, lots shops etc) We visited Lake Vyrnwy on way home which well worth a visit.
Saw the steam train and station nearby but didn't use.
Would go again, but just a bit too quiet for our liking, not a fault of the site though.

Loved this site, one of the best holidays I have ever had. My wife has never done so much walking as the countryside is beautiful there and the sound of the local wildlife was joy from the day to day sounds of a large city where we live.
Can't say anymore than that as for us it was heaven!

We arrived at Riverbend caravan park in the village of Llangadfan at around 2pm on Friday 2nd May 2008 for a 2 night stay. Wet ground but not raining.
The entrance is clearly signposted off the A458 from Welshpool. The turning is left directly by the Cann Office Hotel.
We pre-booked over the phone but could not pay directly there and then as the management do not have the facility to take cardpayments. However we were reassured our reservation was secure.
The price of our 2 night stay was not per person but per unit, which worked out at £19.00 per night inclusive of electric hook up and awning pitch. This was classed as high season with it being a bank holiday weekend.
At arrival on the site the management team were friendly and helpful. I do wish I had asked their names.
The entrance to the touring section is quite steep downwards and a sharp turn to the right. The office is set back a little from this area but all clearly signposted.
The manager sited my caravan, as he did with all the others proclaiming that he did not wish for the grass to be churned up (there being no hardstandings.) The weather was wet at the time and we thought it a good idea.
Your vehicle could not be parked on the grass alongside your unit but on a tarmaced carpark. This was very near so it posed no problem.
As the name of the campsite suggests the River Banwy meanders along side the touring area, it is shallow and slow flowing and offers a peacefull and idyllic setting for relaxing and just generally forgetting the ratrace.
There was no problem with noise only the dawn chorus starting at around 4am which was quite loud as the banks of the river are quite heavily wooded.Dogs are allowed onto this site but those that were present during our stay were kept well under control.
There is a childrens play area sited at the end of the touring field. We feel the site is not particularly geared for children, though they are made most welcome.
The toilet and washing facilities were basic but well managed. (there are 2 shower cubicles in each block. We did not see this mentioned in any of the write ups that we looked at.)
Television signal reception is poor with being in a valley. Though this was of little interest to us.
All in all a friendly site and we will be back.

Beautiful place, I left my heart there where I met a heron and it actually walked up to our tent and took some nachos out my bowl as bold as you please. Our severely retarded son was amazed at the wonderful amount of wildlife that seems so fearless of man, maybe that's because the owners are so lovely and like experts or old fashioned vets, I honestly thought they were angels when they were so helpful when our chemical toilet split and we needed help to scoop up the contents. We did laugh! (Although my elderly mother was sick!) There is a perfect little train nearby that toot toots to all who watch from the tracks and I just wished we could live there with the welsh fairies I'm sure inhabit the woods there. The few facilities are well kept though the showers seem to be a secret tarantula habitat as each time I went in there it was like a scene from arachnophobia but something about the welshpool spiders made me sure they were smiling at me as they span their giant webs.
I would recommend this site to everyone especially naturists like us who will find the wildlife fascinating.

We had only the one night at the park but found all the facilities very good. As we have two yorkies to take on holiday with us, it was great for them with no hassel to walk them. We found the people very friendly and helpful. As this is our first year with our van, the hook-up was my salvation and we will return again. It is great for finding places to see and works well as a base.
