Last august I went on holiday to riverside holiday park and I am pleased that we did it was absolutely amazing.
The facilities were great the staff were the friendliest I have ever seen. The pool was always clean and the location of the site was excellent as it was about an hour to everywhere we wanted to be.
One of my favourite things is that there are rabbits everywhere. When I got bored I went and fed them.
The river that runs down the side of the campsite leads down to a lovely beach nearby. There is a morrisons nearby that sells all the things that the shop doesn't.
It has a lovely playground with a zipwire, slide, swings and climbing apparatus it is full of sand so if you fall of anything you won't get hurt.
It also has a nice bar that has bingo and quizzes on some nights(if you want to stay at home on some nights you can't hear any entertainment).
It has a games room and tv room with 2 pool tables, a kid pool table, some slot machines, tv and a freezer (for ice packs).
I have been there in 2011 and 2012 and I strongly advise people to go there in 2013!

We are staying here at moment for 7 nights. We arrived very early on Saturday morning and met by the owners and was told that it would be no problem to set up our tent on any pitch we liked.
The owner was extremely helpful, told us about the site ( no mention of any rules which was good) even gave us a big info pack of leaflets about the area. We chose pitch no. 9 which is next to the river. Nice flat pitch and plenty of space for our Monte Verde 700, windbreak and car.
Toilets are extremely clean, the ladies has just been redecorated, new shower curtains. Very bright( even toilet seats were bright, each one a different colour!). Small bar, games room and takeaway on site although we didn't use them so can't comment on them.
There is also an indoor swimming pool which we didn't use but did see plenty of people using it. Also a children's play area which looked good.
Overall we would highly recommend this site and would definitely come back.

Just got back from a great four night stay at Riverside Campsite, April 2012. Myself and hubby and the dog were made to feel very welcome. Upon arrival we were told to pitch wherever we liked.
There was only one other tent pitched so we could pick and choose and decided upon pitch 64 as it was within easy reach of the toilets, showers, dishwashing etc.
The pitch:
The pitch was well lit and level and of ample size for our Orchy 500, windbreak, brolly and car (easily fitting a pup tent on there too if needed). We had to pitch in the pouring rain and the ground was very wet but not muddy considering the amount of rain recently. The only problem was the amount of rabbit droppings on the pitch which was not very nice to walk into the tent in soggy weather. It would be a good idea to take wellies as there were a lot of puddles around the site
Although the pitches seemed to be okay. We had terrible gales and rain but the tent held up okay
Although it was a bit scary at times. The campsite is set in a valley so I would think that provided us with some shelter.
The amenities:
Showers and toilet block were extremely clean although were a bit draughty. There were also lockers which I thought was a good idea but didn't use also a hair station with hairdryers and large mirror. Also a baby changing station. The showers
(free) were of the push button type with enough room to put your stuff outside the shower curtain
With hooks to hang your stuff. I only had one shower though as it was freezing in the block and the water could have been hotter but I would imagine in the warmer weather it would be fine. Hubby said he was warm enough and the water was hot enough for him but even at home I always have hotter showers than him. The dishwashing area was very clean but I had to run the water for a few minutes to get the hot to come through. There was three sinks and plenty of room for your pots and pans.
We never used the pub although it looked very cosy. There is also a small games room which we didn't use either. The play area for the kids looked great and had a zipwire. I would imagine the kids would love it.
There is also a shop to get supplies milk bread etc. I left that to hubby to do though so cannot really comment on prices.
The star of the show was the free swimming pool, lovely and clean and as warm as bath water we had
The pool to ourselves but it was plenty big enough for the size of the site so you would still be
Able to have a decent swim in the peak season. The pool sides had really good anti slip flooring
And plenty of seating to put your stuff. There is a small dog walk
Which you have to walk out of the site to get to which our little shih tzu loved but at night do
Take a decent torch as there is no lighting and you could fall into the river! Don't forget your
Poo bags some owners seem to ignore this still which is annoying. There isn't any doggy bins on the walk but it's no hardship really. We only saw one standpipe but because the site is small I cannot imagine that being much of a problem as all the pitches are only a short walk away. Rubbish disposal area was very clean and tidy with recycling bins too.
Hospitality:
The owners of this campsite really cares for it's guests, offering to open the pub if you fancy a pint or two out of the normal hours. We decided to stay an extra 2 nights which was no problem and as the owner was going out was told we could pay
The following day. There was always a welcoming smile and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. After a night of torrential rain and gales the
Owner went round the site checking on tents, caravans and awnings and even sorted out an unoccupied caravan awning which had collapsed and collected a large amount of water. There are
Quite a few residential caravans and the residents were very friendly.
Local wildlife:
On the site there are rabbits everywhere and can be hand fed they were on every unoccupied pitch. Dog owners if your dog doesn't like rabbits don't go here. There are also ducks which was lovely to see walking in single file and arguing amongst
Themselves. One night returning to the campsite two pheasants stood in front of the car headlights and refused to move. Hubby got out and shooed them
Away in the end. At night farm animals could be heard from the surrounding farms and owls were
Twit twooing. You really felt like you were in the middle of nowhere instead of a few minutes drive away from the main road.
The locality:
5 minutes drive away from morrisons which was open until 10pm also Lidl and McDonalds. Crantock beach is about 10 mins drive and Newquay only a short
Drive away.
Would we go again? Most definitely we were very happy campers.

Our first holiday with Riverside and they are brilliant we went on to go back to Riverside another 2 - 3 times after this.
Lovely warm indoor heated pool, toilet / shower / washing up block always clean and tidy never a mess. People that live on the site are always pleasant, little park for the children to play on really nice.
The staff are absolutely lovely very helpful, our tv wouldn't work to start with so Paul lent us one of his and sent a couple of lads to see if they could help to get ours working, our jockey wheel clamp broke and they lent us the tools to replace it, I really cannot fault Riverside, and the little rabbits running about too. Plus its only 5 - 10 mins away from newquay town and their is a morrisons/aldi/McDonalds 2 mins down the road too.
I very highly recommend this site to stay on.

This visit to Cornwall we used one of Riverside's static caravans and I have to say the van was one of the best I've stayed in and a lot cheaper than almost everywhere else! The site itself is well laid out, pleasant, quiet with a very good swimming pool and a quiet bar. Laundry facilities are good and well priced, the clubhouse and games room are pleasant and again keenly priced. Checked over the camping facilities as I'm still a camper at heart, and the washrooms, showers and toilets are all extremely good, and the staff on the site can't do enough for you. We had a great time there and will certainly make this our base for future visits to Cornwall. Worth every penny we paid! No real problems with the area at all, handy for the local Morrisons and Lidl, some good pub restaurants nearby and a farm shop just down the lane with some rather nice food in it. Just have to be a bit careful on the approach roads as the lanes are a bit narrow - especially the one my sat nav took me down with my trailer attached with my wing mirrors almost touching the bushes each side!

We have only been camping for the last 2 years but this has been the best site we have visited.
We are 2 adults and 2 children ( 9 and 10). We had pitch 33 which was ideal for the kids as it faced the play area which was clean and well maintained. The kids can play here from 8. 30am until 9pm. Ours thoroughly enjoyed it.
The pitch itself was a good size and flat. It also had electric hook up. Water is close by. The site itself has permanent residents, tents, caravans and holiday cottages. Everything on site is in easy walking distance as it is not a large site.
Toilets were always clean and have a lovely fresh smell. There are plenty of toilets and showers and we never had to wait. There are 3 sinks for washing up which are inside and clean.
The bar is a little small and gets busy on bingo nights. This is the only time we used the bar but it was a good experience.
There is an on site shop next to reception, pool room and games room, laundry and a takeaway service. We did not use these but were available if needed.
The heated undercover pool was great, The kids loved this and went in every day.
As for location we couldn't have asked for better. Morrisons is a 5 minute drive away (probably walkable but we shopped on our way back to the site).
Fistral beach and surrounding area 10 minutes drive away. There is plenty of pay parking available approximately £5-£7 for the day. Fistral beach was great for bodyboarding and also beach fun. Although the sand dune path is a trek if you are with small children or prams, there is an alternative route along the road.
Staff and campers all friendly.
Would definitely come again.

Wow, what an amazing site. We have just come back from a 6 night stay and have already booked a holiday here for may next year. The site is beautiful and only a 5-10 minute drive from Newquay.
The Facilities are spotless and the cleanest we have come across. It has a lovely little pool on site and Rabbits roaming free everywhere.
The staff and owner can't do enough to help you and are very friendly. Very good price too for the time of year. There is an on site park too which the children loved, even my teenager couldn't resist a go on the swings!
Roll on next May when we can go back.

We found it to be a great family run site, great large size pitches, facilities were very clean at all times,
The shop was well stocked up even in October. The swimming pool is great.
We did not use the bar but will do next time. We will be back again this year so see you all soon

Spent 4 nights camping at Riverside from 21/09/10 to 25/09/10 for £14 a night which included EHU. We'd originally planned to stay at Porth Beach but decided against it as we wanted a less windy site with a cosier feel. As the site was pretty quiet we had the pick of the pitches and plumped for pitch 39 which faced the river.
There are quite a few permanent residents living in caravans or static trailers but this didn't make the park any less enjoyable (as I've read elsewhere). Showers and toilets were always clean with plenty of hot water. We were also impressed with the fact they were kept clean the whole time we were there. Obviously this may be different in busier periods.
Didn't use the laundry. We used the small on-site pub twice (£5.25 for a large glass of wine & a bottle of Rattler). It was nice to pop in and warm up with a drink before going to bed! Can't comment on the swimming pool as we didn't use but there were a few kids using it, so it can't be that cold.
We're regular visitors to Cornwall and know the Newquay area very well and our time there usually consists of spending time on the beach and surfing. Did the Camel Trail again this time round.Much quieter in September and the Borough Arms in Bodmin is a welcome rest before cycling back to Padstow. Also visited Tree Surfers near Tavistock.A must for thrill seekers, but you will ache afterwards!
Would we go back to Riverside? Yes we would because it was a nice calm and peaceful place to stay. But as our holidays are always taken outside of the school holidays I can imagine it would be quite busy when the kids are off school.

We went (family of 4, 6 and 12 yr old children) with our newly purchased trailer tent and got electric hook up. The pitch size was great, and they even provided a cable (£10 deposit which was returned) to get tv signal.
Shower blocks and toilets we found to be always clean. Entertainment is low key.We went to a quiz night and bingo and enjoyed the company of the people there. It did get VERY busy as only a small room.
The children enjoyed the indoor pool and used it every day at about 4pm. It was never very busy. The children also loved the Watership Down feel of the numerous bunnies that were around.During the day as well as at night. They did not seem to be wary of people at all. Dog owners may find this difficult!
Very family friendly site and definitely had the more personal touch because of the size. I did not worry about the children wandering off to the playground.
We used it as a base to visit the many lovely different types of beaches.Crantock, Lusty Glaze, Fistral to name a few.
Morrisons, plus petrol and Mcdonalds just 5 mins away by car.
We had tickets for the aquarium in Newquay but we would not have paid the full price expected for a family of 4 (think about £35 for something that was very busy and took only 30 mins to get round. Had to queue for 45 mins too).
I would say that if I was to return to Newquay I would return here as it is quiet and very peaceful.
