This is the 7th visit to the campsite and each time we find another reason to go back.
The site is very clean with nice helpful friendly staff. A welcome pack is given on arrival and pitches are easy to find.
As mentioned below they have improved the swimming pool by erecting a solid glass cover and plastic on the floor rather then the hard slabs, its nice and safe for little ones and a emergency button if you have problems and the pool is heated.
Local on site shop with the essentials and a nice bar with basic menu but does the job.
Also a games room with a couple of pool tables and a freezer for freezing your cool blocks (no charge) and a few fruit machines.
Washing up facility and washing machine's and large dryers.
The pitches are very good with electric hook up on all.
We had no problem with the small river as the high fencing runs along side, all but a twenty meter section near the top of the site. But this is far away from the kids play area which has a zip slide, swings and play frame with sand covering the floor this gets locked at nineish
So the site really goes quite and ten.
Wash rooms were cleaned every day and have recently been fitted with new shower curtains.
They are very central to the campsite and are well lit at night.
They do get a bit cold in October !
We find Newquay is a great place to take the kids (5&2yrs) there is so much to do that's all in a 30 min drive, like lots of beaches,a zoo cornwall market plus many other attraction we find Dairy land is a good place to start as you pay once and the tickets last for a week, so you can return as much as you like, we find this helpful when the weather turns a bit bad as they have a large indoor play area.
Only family's and couples are allowed so this makes a lovely camping experience (as long as you like rabbits sitting around you) lol.

I love this site! I have been going to Newquay every year for the past 20 years and I love the place.
We went away in September 2009, after having 1 week in Devon we headed to Newquay to meet with family who were also staying on the site.
This site has everything that you would want. The owners are very friendly and helpful, on arrival we were told to hook up on any pitch we liked (we did go in off peak season). We chose a lovely pitch near to the shower block. On arrival to the site we were given a welcome pack with money off vouchers to local attractions. The showers were very clean and provided lots of hot water, the toilets were equally as clean and were cleaned every day. There is also a laundry with washing machines and tumble dryers and a dish washing area.
The swimming pool is very clean and warm! It is also free to swim (unlike other sites), the pool is of a good size and never felt over crowded. The pool has recently had a new cover on it which is fab, it is a glass cover so you are able to see outside when you are swimming! The pool is also safe if you have young children as there are 2 entry doors with very high handles and is locked at night.
The site bar is great and drinks are of a fair price, the bar stays open until you want to go, but at 12.00 we did feel sorry for the guy so drank up. I understand that in peak season they provide bar food. The children's play area looks fab and children appeared to be having a great time.
The site is really peaceful and there is no noise after about 10. There are lots of rabbits on the site which are really cute, we even brought some carrots to feed them! There are no nuisance though.
Newquay town and the great white sandy beaches are only a few minutes drive away by car. Down the lane to the site there is a really nice farm shop selling local produce, or there is a morrisons just off the main road (less than 5 mins away).
One of my fave pubs in Newquay is the Mermaid Inn at Porth, many know it as the 'Pub on the Beach' as it is on the beach. (couple of miles away) The pub has a family bar where in peak season provides great entertainment - look out for 'Just Arthur'. The food is of a great price and the quantity and quality is great.
This is a great site and we will be returning again.
Couple of points to note:
1- The site has just changed to digital so you will need to take a digital freeview box with you. The signal on site is not great but reception will provide you with a long ariel lead to plug straight into a ariel socket on the electric hook up pod, we got every channel this way.
2 - To get to the site you will have to go down a bendy lane and over a stone bridge, it is not a great problem but if you are towing a caravan it is best to take it slow and be cautious.

The site is lovely and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and welcoming at all times. The site was very clean, the showers were cleaned daily. The club house sold a good pint.
We walked to the local supermarket it only took 25 minutes. Newquay was lovely and clean, the beaches great for the dogs and kids. Can't wait to book Riverside Park again.

Just returned from a fortnight at Riverside. Absolutely loved this site. We were pitched right by the river (P19), and were initially a little concerned by the proximity of the small stretch of unfenced river (5 children inc toddler). The river absolutely made our holiday! Fortunately the little one didn't want to run and jump in every minute and we soon relaxed on this very friendly and well run site. We pitched our enormous tent easily in the allocated space. We had 2 meals in the bar - simple menu, well cooked and presented and reasonably priced. I recommend the cheeseburger with 'the works'. Although the site was completely full, we never had to wait for showers or loos which always seemed clean and tidy, never experienced that before in August! Also the facilities block was very central so no one seemed to have far to walk. The washing and laundry facilities were excellent, I reckoned on £4.40 to wash and dry a decent load. The play area was very well received, and we had a couple of quiet evenings in the bar. We even had a curry delivered from Newquay - fab quality! menu at reception. The indoor pool was lovely, we usually went in the morning and it was never too busy. The river is mostly very securely fenced off, it was only our small stretch that wasn't, we had a wonderful afternoon with the kids fishing / paddling and playing in the dinghy-very closely supervised of course! don't know if this is allowed, but nobody complained! The shop sells mostly anything you would need including papers. We had one minor niggle and that was the very bright light that came on at dusk till dawn, we could actually read in bed without any other lighting! but it was needed near the river - health and safety and was only on this section I think. It didn't spoil our stay nor did the wonderful sound of flowing water lulling us to sleep at night. We went to Crealy which was enjoyable, but we didn't feel it was as good as Flambards, good value though with free returns for 7 days. We totally loved Crantock Beach -approx 4-5 miles, and found more and more things to do there as the holiday progressed - crabbing, dinghy, belly boarding, digging rock pooling etc. National Trust carpark but you must get there before 10am to have any chance of a space on sunny days! The organic farm shop near the site is beautiful and stocked with some high quality well made products, well worth a look, pricey though. There is a Morrison's and a Lidl very close by (Few mins in car).We didn't go into Newquay at all because of the terrible traffic queues in and out, this was also a problem at the shops with seemingly everyone in the world calling at Morrison's for picnic on their way out and tea on the way back! We had a wonderful holiday helped along by some fabulous weather, and would return gladly to this site time and again, and am happy to recommend it to others. (Maybe avoid the river bank if your kids are particularly boisterous!)

This is a lovely site with good flat pitches. The pool is very nice, clean and warm and not too deep if you have young kids, the baby pool was not open when we were there. There is a lovely pub selling reasonably priced drinks and food, which can be eaten in or taken away, the food portions are of good size. The quiz nights etc are only on in high season. The shop is small but sold bread milk etc. The staff were friendly and helpful. The children's park is very good my 11 and 8 year old loved the zip wire. Kids are able to ride there bikes around the site. The site was quiet at night able to get kids to bed at 10pm when we could get them in from the park. There are rabbits running around the site which is nice and the odd duck.
There is another pub down the road and a large morrisons with petrol staion. Newquay is lovely with lots for the kids to do, the site give you a really good welcome pack containing money off vouchers. This site is close to most attractions, beaches (porth beach is good for the kids) and town centre. We visited Crealy adventure park and Flambards kids loved both. We were really lucky with the weather sunny all week!
The only faults I have of this site are that the shower block needed new shower curtains and poles (although each cubicle has an outer door also). The shower block and washing up room were only cleaned once in the whole week we were there. There were also a lot of midges first thing in the morning and in the evenings. Pitch in the first row you come too away from the river if you can. When the site is not busy you can just choose any pitch you like.
I think this site is good value for money and it had all the amenities we were looking for so I would probably return despite the showers and midges but not in peak season.

First time camping with family , including 6mth old baby (some called me crazy!) and thought we'd try Riverside in Newquay. Was not disappointed ! The campsite is lovely (although take some repellent as there were some midges our first night as it is very close to the river) The swimming pool is clean and of a good size, and the children's play area has obviously had some money spent on it (my 8 year old loved it!). The facilities are clean and I never found them too busy although site was full. Have to admit didn't try the bar . Something I intend to improve on next time ! Overall it's a secluded, clean site which we all really enjoyed - thinking of going back July !

Nice little site, in a lovely spot right next to the river. Toilets and showers were ok, nice little pub on site. Owners very welcoming. The only problem is the access road in is a little narrow, but overall a good site. Only a couple of miles from Newquay so a nice easy taxi ride. The rental lodges on site looked fantastic. Kids loved the play area although they did get covered in sand! Will be visiting again.

We stayed here early July nice little site. Showers were clean and plenty of hot water - could do with turning it up a couple of degrees. Indoor swimming pool we never used it but looked ok. There is a steep hill on your way out which you have to stop at as it is a junction. There are a lot of rabbits and I mean a lot running around - drove dogs mad. They do provide a little dog walk and I mean little, so would not recommend if you have any dogs that like plenty of exercise. There is a pub on site and a shop. The owners were very friendly - we arrived and they told us to find any pitch we wanted. Very good size as well. All in all nice site except for the facilities for the dogs

Newquay is one of my favourite places and I have been visiting the area for many years. The scenery and beaches all around the area are outstanding! My favourite thing is watching the seals and having a pint of cornish cream or rattler in a pub overlooking the harbour.
We came across Riverside camping park just this year and now I know its there I will not stay anywhere else!
The site is near Quintrell Downs and very close to Newquay town centre once you get to know the short cuts. Also it does not take as long to get around in the summer as from the other end of Newquay as the traffic is not as bad this end.
Morrisons, Lidls and several pubs nearby.
You get to the site down a very quiet road that passes an organic farm shop - very handy!
The site itself is very charming and peaceful. Next to a river and loads wildlife around, the rabbits dont even run away when you go near them. Next to a bubbling river (very soothing) but is securely fenced off.
There is a safe playground for children and a heated pool that I found was not overcrowded and my grandchildren loved it.
The pitches are very large and a lot of our family came to visit and pitched their tents on our pitch which the very friendly owners had no objection to at all. The pitches are per person per night and are extremely reasonable.
The little pub has quite an atmosphere. There is a pool room and games room attached. You can have a meal there or a takeaway which is served between 5.30 to 8.30 each night. A small selection costing no more than £5.50 but very nice large meals. We arrived too late for a meal one day and were starving and the landlord nipped into the shop to get us some sausage rolls and pork pies to keep us going til we got a takeaway delivered later on. Nothing is too much trouble!
We asked what time was closing time in the pub and the answer was 'when the last person leaves' but eventually they had to kick us out!
They do bingo twice a week and a quiz once a week. They have the tv or the radio on and a selection of books and games are available.
The showers and toilets are very clean and the showers are warm. There are hairdryers in the shower area and separate seated vanity units with plug sockets for razors/tongs etc and also an iron nearby. The radio plays not too loudly in the background.
The dishwashing and laundry facilities are very good. The laundy costs no more than £4 for a large load and takes about 40 minutes.
A very laid back and friendly site - but they will not tolerate any unsociable behaviour or dogs left unattended or off the lead - a good thing.
I did not once see an unhappy face - even when it was raining.
Very warm and welcoming and I hope to visit often.

I called in today, as I was passing by. Morrison and Lidl stores are exactly 1 mile away, Fistral Beach approx 2 miles! The site is in a valley about 0.75 of a mile from A392 with a small river alongside. The access road [from A392] is narrow in places but plenty of passing areas - Be ready for a sharp Right turn [after passing Lane Theatre]. Riverside site entrance is fine. Lots of statics on site plus many seasonal tourers. Pitches were level, Toilet Block excellent, with laundry and dish washing facilities. Bar, Poolroom and heated covered swimming pool. This site is located off a quiet road and there should be no traffic noise - prices are not unreasonable and staff were helpful and friendly. Families and Couples ONLY.
