Just had a week at this campsite. Chose it due to rave reviews especially the facilities.
Think I must have gone to wrong site?? toilets are in a portakabin with 5 stalls for ladies but only 2 in the gents with urinal. Showers 2 each for ladies and gents with such a low water pressure and tepid temperature best avoided. Small to say the least and for some bizarre reason the box to put your money in is outside the cubicle so you have to get undressed then go out and put your money in?! There is only one pot wash for the whole site and again water temperature tepid. Had to boil kettle and take with you if you wanted any hot water. Hit and miss with owners in the office so if extra supplies like bread etc needed you take your chances. On the plus side, due to the number of families on there it was very quiet on a night and the fields are well sheltered with trees etc but I won't be going back unless some serious upgrading and cleaning of facilities is done.

I have just returned from a week long stay here and I totally agree with Rev22. I too decided to book here because of the rave reviews but I feel so disappointed.
Maybe I have experienced higher standards than other people at different campsites but portacabins are a definite no no for me. The ladies toilets always smelled really bad and the water pressure not too good if other people using the water at the same time.
I also agree about the staff, they were never to be seen if you needed anything from the shop.
The whole site felt dirty to me as there was quite often mess around, maybe because it was busy.
The positives are the site was quite most of the time apart from some road noise at night. Lovely views.
Not enough positives to warrant a return and next time will stick to what I know.

We chose this site because of the rave reviews too - and like Hughes399 and Rev22 I can only say it was a big disappointment.
Lets be fair: The location was good and. Er, well, the. Er. Location was good.
This is the first site I've been to where they mix tents with caravans in the same field rather than having a tent area and a caravan area. Quite nice in that you all get to mix, not so much fun when you follow a caravan onto a pitch and find wheel ruts and general lumps and bumps.
On arrival we were shown to our pitch. It looked like the training ground for the red Bull X-Fighters motocrossers. It might have been acceptable if you were in a caravan and could adapt it for rough ground by levelling it off using the legs/supports, but it would have been dreadful in a tent. My request for a change of pitch was met with 'Mmmm, but I'll have to change my plan now. But OK'.
A pity I had to disrupt the planning and regret the inconvenience! Not the best start, but at least we were allowed to change pitch. This one was nice and flat and we were asked to keep a minimum 3m distance from other tents etc for fire safety. Great, nice that this is considered, but the pitches are a bit close and this made things a tad tight - especially as you park your car adjacent to your tent. Thankfully our caravan neighbours weren't visiting that week!
Two standpipes in the field we were on. Water pressure at these was great.
Toilets: All very workmanlike - I'd expect to see something like this on a building site. 5 steel urinals, 5 steel sinks (hot taps produced tepid water - akin to that from a sun warmed hosepipe. ) Two porcelain toilets. Bring your own paper for both Gents and Ladies. Ladies. Take note!
Hygiene wasn't the best. There was the same piece of paper lying on the floor for at least two days outside one of the stalls. It rained on several of the days while we were there and a bucket was placed on the floor in the portaloo cabin to catch the leak from the roof.
The blokes entrance does have a very interesting feature: Right outside the door is a stainless steel toilet complete with cistern etc. Not for the exhibitionists among the guests but the disposal point for the caravan chemical toilets. Great. Just hope they can tip accurately and don't question why the floor outside the gents has suddenly been subjected to a wide area washdown with a hose!
Shower Block - appalling.
Blokes ablutions: Two sinks at above waist height (I'm 6 foot+) made having a shave interesting, so if you are any shorter than me, take a box. Huge sinks, very low water pressure, water temperature probably best described as tepid. As an alternative you could wash, shave and brush your teeth in the portacabin loo sinks (if you are Ok with that). The water temperature isn't any better there though.
Showers - Laughable You get 5 mins for your 20p so plenty of time for a shower. You won't be in there that long though. Unless someone else has a shower at the same time.
The best approach for the showers is:
Go in shorts and flip flops.
Place wash gear on stool in shower cubicle on the 'dry' side of the shower curtain. Check the hook isn't about to fall off the door (cubicle 2 I think) before hanging up towel.
Insert 20p (into the correct box - check the numbers), enter cubicle.
Lock door, undress and shower in tepid water. There is no temperature control so you are at the whim of the manager/owner as to the temperature you get. You can see the pipes through the false ceiling. They are flexible plastic piping and aren't lagged.
Pray no-one else decides to use the shower next door or run the hot taps in the sinks, or use the hot tap in the pot wash - otherwise you are going to need those 5 mins as the water reduces to a trickle. Described by a fellow camper as trying to wash as someone spits at you.
Finish shower.
Step out from behind shower curtain into pool of water on floor. If your predecessor wasn't particularly considerate this might also be a bit of a mud patch. This is why you need the flip flops! There aren't any drains in the floor, so if you wear long trousers - they WILL get wet!
Pot wash: Just one - for the whole site! Hot water - again, tepid. As it is all coming from the same source - I hesitate to call it a heater - this isn't surprising. If you have an EHU boil a kettle and take it with you, if not ask someone who has - if they have experienced the pot wash they will probably fully understand the request.
We've never had to take a kettle of hot water to a pot wash in the 6 or 7 years we've been camping!
Playground: Not really a playground but some small swings and a slide. My kids had the most fun trying to walk on an old plastic water barrel - and that was it.
Am I being unfair?
I don't think so. I spoke to both managers (who were friendly and approachable when you could find them) on this issue and apparently:
Water pressure: Apparently Wales water can't be bothered to deal with the issue - despite the fact that it floods out of the cold taps and standpipes. I suggest it is a case of an underpowered boiler/heating system that can't cope with reasonable levels of water flow and so the water flow has been restricted so the heater can cope (after a fashion because we never experienced decently warm water at any time during our week long stay).
Heater - not much in the way of any commitment from either of them here. They said the owner was visiting and they would mention it. Not sure if they did and he/she wasn't bothered, or they didn't bother. Result - no change.
This is a real shame as this site has real potential.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely not.
Would I go back? No.
My top tip:
If you are the owner - do something about the hot water and hygiene. Attracting value seeking campers is a great idea, but they want a decent experience. You'll make more money from repeat visitors and personal recommendations than you will by treating campers as 'passing trade'. Your showers are poor, your loos are unhygienic and you can't wash up! Not much of a recommendation! We spoke to several other campers and had to reassure some of the less experienced that this site was a very long way from typical.
If you are a camper: Ignore the price and the reviews that fooled us (and others). This site is a real disappointment. No wonder it is cash up front! Don't bother staying here - at least until they have addressed some of the simple issues you take for granted at other sites, spend a couple of pounds more per night and stay somewhere decent.
A great pity.

First time to this site and was not disappointed. The new owners had been there less than a week. Plenty of space for my boys to play football and badminton and also able to make lots of new friends.
Toilets were clean and showers were also cleaned regularly. Showers were 20p but you do get a reasonable time for your money.
The owner very helpful and friendly, we asked for freezer blocks and she explained hadn't set this facility up but did not mind putting our own blocks in the house freezer.
There was a little park consisting of two swings, a slide and a climbing cube for toddlers.
No shop on site which I think would help as you had to drive to nearest shop. Easy to get to Pwllheli and criccieth.
Places to eat with kids, we did drive up to the woodlands hotel to find they only served meals after 6 so on the way back by an island (can't remember name) but its on the route to the woodland, it had a wooden forte for boys to play in and park and the food was hot and seemed to be freshly prepared.

This was our first time camping as a family. Myself, my wife, 7 year old daughter and our black Labrador.
From my first conversation on the phone with Donna to the moment we left everything was absolutely fantastic.
We were the only tent on site over May Bank Holiday and we were made to feel so welcome by everyone we met, especially those in the seasonal tourers.
We were lent a heater to take the early evening chill off the tent and we have booked 5 nights at the end of May, even having the chance to pick our pitch before we left.
A brilliant site in a beautiful part of the world. Can't wait to go back

I have just visited this campsite for a 2 night stay. I didn't book as was touring the area and my husband likes to view before we stay.
Positives - The pitches are very level, the site is kept very clean, the showers are excellent (no cheap fittings here), staff very friendly and helpful, set back from the road so the children were free to play safely, spectacular mountain views and a friendly atmosphere from some seasonal pitch holders.
Negatives - None.
Only paid to stay one night but liked it so much we came back and stayed for a second.
Will definitely stay here when in this area in the future and would recommend to friends and family.

My family and I booked this site for the Easter weekend.
This is a lovely quite site with level pitches, and immaculate facilities.
What a gem of a site and credit to the manager and her partner.
We were so impressed we booked a seasonal pitch for the rest of the year so we can continue to enjoy the views and surrounding area.
We can't recommend this site enough 5star+.

My husband and I stayed at Rhosfawr over the Easter weekend 2013 and we were that impressed with the site we booked a seasonal pitch.
The pitches are level, well spaced and on well tended grass.
The facilities are spotlessly clean (showers 20p)
Laundry and a small play area.
The site is set in beautiful surroundings and is very central for all the stunning beaches and towns of the Llyn.
All in all we think its a perfect place to stay.

We have just stayed at this fantastic site for one night and will be back.
Level site, easy to peg out. The managers were really helpful and friendly; the toilets and showers were perfect and kept very clean; short grass (once again no cuttings to stand in) and the location was superb.
A break from popular seaside areas but within easy access if needed.
We experienced fantastic weather Saturday and packed up in rain on Sunday and the site kept its appeal.

I have been coming to this site for a few years.
The toilets and showers are spotlessly clean and have been given a much needed paint job.
The site is well up together with friendly helpful staff.
I read the previous review and have seen no evidance of the grass being uncollected when it iscut.
Quiet site with level pitches and cracking views.
Would recommend and will def be returning next year.
