We visited this site again for probably the 4th time. The road to the site has been tarmacked and although the showers haven't been updated, they were perfectly clean and the water was always hot. There have been improvements to the ladies' toilet block where it looked as if there were new fitments. Plenty of loo roll in the toilet cubicles. Maybe hot water and a soap dispenser would be useful in the toilet block?

13 of us camped altogether during the school half term and we had a wonderful time. We booked for both hook-up and non-hook up and managed to pitch together. The children could happily and safely amuse themselves. Glorious scenery, near the beach, and great weather - what more could we wish for? We'll be back!

Very excellent value and a shot walk to th beach about 20 mins or so.

Showers are a bit uninviting and grim a definite let down, and walking past the chemical disposal to the gents was unpleasant too. A slightly strange set up with toilets in 1 block with 2 sinks then in another block wash basins and showers. There we're plenty of them.

Loads of space to pitch, a spar shop of site but close by and portmadog having all the other shops you'll require.

A few little improvements would make it a great site, but I'm sure it will then be overcrowded and more expensive.

So a definite to visit (if only a short visit if you don't like grubby showers).

We arrived early Friday afternoon, and were told to pick our pitch! Good start, a few tourer, one big camper van and a few tents using electric!.

1 field with electric, 2 without!

What can I say for £15.00 per night, its was a bargain!.

OK the toilets aren't brand new, but they were cleaned daily & there was loads of loo roll.

Showers are 50p for 5 minutes and were really hot.

Bit of a walk to the beach, but take your car on the beach for £3.00 as we did and you can to and fro!

There is no shop but you can jump in your car or have a long walk.

There is someone in reception 24 hour and they do walk around with a dog, but it was to check if things were OK!.

Owners were helpful and polite,

OK the road could do with tarmacking, but you pay for what you get.

We have children and the site was far from the main road and the fact that there was field to let the kids run around in was amazing, we are going back soon, again to all others, you get what you pay for. P.S: There are sheep roaming about, the kids loved it! it basic but good!

At Tyddyn Ai we take any complaints or suggestions very seriously. After reading the reviews posted below we targeted the two most obvious problems.

1. The road leading into the site

2. Noise problems late at night.

The road into the site is currently being tarmaced and is an ongoing project.

As for noisy residents, we now have 24hr security on site, which include foot, vehicle and dog patrols. Security staff are also trained in first aid

Thank you

We have used this site many times in the past before having children and know it to be a basic site. The location is great just a short walk over to a great beach. The beach is one of few you can drive on to. Upon our latest visit we were shocked to find the site with lots of litter lying around the hookups. You do get a lot of speedboat jet ski posers with battered transit vans here. The road has been a problem at the site for at least 10 years, nice to see the owners spending some money on it. Shower and toilet facilities were good, location is good. Hopefully the owners will improve efforts to care for this site

Laid back site made up of lots of fields that can take large family tents and big enough areas to pitch a group of tents together. Pitch where you like good value at £12 per tent per night.

Toilet facilities good, ladies has at least 12 flushing loos (no portaloos!)I think about the same for mens loos. Didn't seem to run out of loo roll. Cleanish, but was a busy, wet bank holiday weekend! Shower block has 5 showers that take tokens (purchase from reception before entering shower) 50p lasts for 5 mins. Also has small curtained off cubicles with sinks for washing, brushing teeth etc. Plug sockets and mirrors for hair dryer / straightners.

Dogs need to be on a lead as sheep frequently wander through the site! Great for kids as lots of places to explore, even found an old rope swing in the trees! 2 minute drive to Black Rock sands where you can drive straight onto the beach. Jet Skiers heaven! Spar and good chippy close by and 5 mins from Porthmadog village which has a Tesco.

We have been using this campsite for several years. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. Every year they fill in the potholes in the driveway but as it is so very popular in high season it does tend to get holey again!

This site cannot be beaten in low to mid season for its tranquility, we often go in april, may, sept and october, weather permitting. Very often we are the only people on the whole site so we have all the fields to walk our dogs in and the whole mountain to ourselves to climb and enjoy.

In mid season the site is a popular choice at weekends for jet skiers and high season, all week long as Blackrock Sands, a beautiful 3 mile golden beach is only half a mile from the site entrance.

There is a grocery shop, beach shop, post office and chip shop about a quarter of a mile away on the main street in. The site has showers, toilets and a laundry room with washing machines and I believe a tumble dryer.

Reception for tv is good although mobile phone reception is poor on site, you have to go half way up the drive to get good reception. On the beach road there is a pub that also serves food, and on the main road in there is Tyddyn Lyn, a lovely pub / restaurant (and campsite) booking advisable, we have been turned away when they're fully booked!

We love this area and of course we,ll be going back for many years to come.

This is my third year at this site and the facilities for the price are fine.

I have never found the toilets in an overly unclean condition, where there are lots of people and young children, some 'mess' is to be expected and I have found worse on more pricer sites. But the owners do their best to keep on top of it at high season.

Yes the road in is bumpy - but it does stop fast drivers (well some of them)

Owners are friendly and the site does not claim to be anything it is not! Basic site for a sensible price. As for the noise, on a friday and saturday it does get noisy with units having some fun, if you dont want to be subject to this then visit sun - fri or use one of the fields away from the seasonal pitched vans.

I choose this site as I dont want to be crowded in with static vans and seasonal pitches that charge high prices. It has all the facilities that a basic camper needs and I will visit again next year!

I have been visiting this site for the last ten years and over those years improvements have been made. It has everything I require for my camping trip and a lot more.Yes this site is basic but that is what camping should be. Its clean and tidy in all the facilities toilets shower launderette and dishwashing room.

The bins are emptied twice daily and yes they do get in a mess during the day due to camp site users not putting items in the bin, some people do dump stuff but it is removed.

The owners are helpful and friendly. On the odd time I have stayed there has been groups that do make noise the owner does patrol in high season. On a whole I love this camp site its cheap and cheerful with open space for my children to play safely.

Very basic site with the absolute minimum in site provisions.

Waste disposal areas e.g. Bins were very unkempt. Shower areas were kept clean but considering that you had to pay extra (50 pence for 4 minutes) to use them they should have been.

Perhaps the most aggravating aspect of this site is that the owners left the site and went back to their farm at 7PM. This resulted in an extremely noisy campsite at night. Loud drunken parties with music at ludicrous volumes etc.

One of the cheapest campsites in the area but for all the wrong reasons.

My personal rating for this site is 2 out of 10

I won't be rushing back there.
