We stayed two nights and were quoted £15 per night which I thought was just about value for money but when we arrived they tried to charge us £23 per night as the prices change on 1st July (our second night) but when I queried it, they agreed to charge the price quoted. I definitely don't think £23 is anywhere near good value. The touring field is on quite a slope so levellers are definitely required. It felt a bit bleak to me but that might be because there was nobody else there when we were there. The toilets appeared to be clean but if you have a phobia of flying things like me, you won't want to use them. There were moths and crane flies everywhere. There was a shop on site but we didn't use it so not sure what they stock. If you like to be near civilization, it was about a mile away from the nearest eatery and about 3 miles from Tenby itself. Not a bad site but I don't think I would return.

Me and my family stayed in a caravan in the six week holidays. The weather was lovely. But I must say the toilets need to be cleaned more often like 2 times a day because often when I went in there they weren't very clean. And the bins need to be changed more often too.
The park is quite close to the road, and I think they should do it again because it is dull for children and instead of the tire swings try having proper swings. It needs to be bigger you have lots of land but they don't use it.
I think that they need activity places like arcade or swimming pool, just something new to entertain the children.
The staff are very nice and polite.

Having been to this site many times and have had no problems we feel that you need to know the changes this year. We stayed in the tent field (with slope) near to the toilets.
Having 3 children and 1 friend it makes it easier for them to go to the toilets when pitched close. Not anymore the new ruling states that children are not allowed in the toilets on their own. Which means you will spend all day standing around in the toilets. This rule is upkept by the cleaner and her husband who live on the entrance to the field. At one time I was bbqing and my wife was cooking on the stove, one of our children was desperate to go, being a responsible parent I did not want to leave the others with hot stuff around. So in my stupidity I sent him on his own well he is almost ten.
The cleaner followed him to the toilets and tried to get him out of the cubicle ,when she couldnt she then came shouting and screaming at us, she did not listen to reason and was just shouting that she doesnt spend four hours a day cleaning for children to mess it up. We stayed there over a half term and the field was almost empty, the toilets where dirty and the bin in there had not been emptied all week.

Given that this was the only campsite in the region of Tenby that could accommodate us at short notice over the bank holiday weekend, we had reservations. However we really enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitations in returning. We didn't arrive until after 9pm but reception was still being manned, and we found all staff helpful. The campsite has nice views over the surrounding fields and countryside and was a nice place to sit while the sun was going down. Other visitors seemed to be mainly families with the odd couple, as such there was a reasonable level of noise from children playing but nothing that bothered us at all. The camping field is quite steeply sloped towards the top end, but this part of the site has better views so we chose to pitch on the slope anyway. Toilet facilities were clean and although the site was busy, we never had to queue for a shower - maybe because we didn't try to use the facilities in the usual morning or evening rush. The only improvements I could suggest would be soap dispensers in the toilets, more washing-up facilities, and hot water to wash-up with. For anyone staying in the future we would highly recommend eating at The Stackpole Inn in Stackpole, about a 15 minute drive away. Great food and nice staff.

Clean site. Clean toilet block , very limited numbers though. Just 4 toilets for a site that is registered for 100 vans plus tents. Reception ladies very pleasant but deal with the men at your peril, they have the attitude "If you don't like it go somewhere else", if you want something done, my advice would be to try and manage, try and get by. Most pitches sloping at various degrees. Its one of the cheapest around, but as said in other reviews it's the cheapest because of limited facilities.

Called here for a few days - looked ok and pleasant enough. It did not cater for everything though.V ery basic shop 9-5. My wife and I risked our life walking from park to beach - not recommended no pathways and on a very dangerous bend. There was an empty building next door which is an eye sore would be good though if the park could turn it into something useful. The shower-block was ok. No provision for your clothes though - the water soaked them. It was easy access though I must say to Tenby town by car only 5 mins away. Overall the park could have had a few more benefits to attract me back - but the prices were ok which reflected in the lack of amenities

A last minute decision to take a bank holiday break near Tenby, we ended up at this site (the only one with any pitches left) The new shower block was very clean but you had to have a key to gain access (not very practical if someone was in the shower with the key and you happened to want a wee!) There were some level pitches but unfortunately ours wasn't one of them and so we had to put blocks under one of the caravan wheels.
On the whole it was a quite a nice site and reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and had a relaxed attitude. Only a short drive from Tenby, I would definitely recommend this site if you want to visit the area but still be able to escape the commercialism.

August 2005 Crackwell is mainly a static caravan park, with tourer caravans pitched on a sloped field with some hardcore roads. The tent field is set at the back of the campsite, all pitches on slopes of varing degrees. If the site was busy some pitched would be quite difficult. While we stayed it was quiet with less than 10% of the pitched taken. Every one camped around the out side of the field. The field forms part of a small valley. Views aren't great but the lower part of the field, though along way from the Shower/WC block is quite protected from the weather. We camped higher up the field so the kids didnt have so far to go when needing to use the bathroom. We had one night of high winds, (radio said it was a force 8 gale) one tent was flatened. We have a large family tent which stood up to the wind well considering the was no natural windbreaks form the south westerly wind.
We had an issue with pricing. As mentioned we have a large family tent so I thought it prudent to mention this when booking. After some 'umming and arring'the site owners said there should be room but I would have to pay a double pitch. Pitch price of a tent is £10.00 a night so we would have to pay £20.00. Being a reasonable type I agreed as the impression given was that they where very busy and I was being squeezed in. On arrival we found that the field was near empty. I was told that I still had to pay a double pitch. I have never paid a double pitch before but as the pitches are genrally cheep for the area I decided not to make it an issue. On arrival we paid for three nights to the Wednesday and made it clear that if the weather was to hold we would book through to the Saturday or Sunday. I was disapointed to find after a couple of days that a family across the field with the exact same tent only paid a single pitch. On the Wednesday morning I went to reception to book untill Saturday and discuss the anomally in charges. I was told that I still had to pay a double pitch and that we had to leave Friday because they where now fully booked Friday night. It was a shame that reception didn't warn me on arrival that they may be busy and I would lose my pitch. It seams that it depends who you speak, what you pay.
The Reception/shop open from 9 to 5 Very bare essentails in the shop,we didn't buy anything at the shop as there is a very good Sommerfields in Tenby 5 minutes by car. We did have our ice blocks frozen .20p each. We had a problem retrieving them as the reception closed at 5pm. Our days out normally go beyond that. This means you need to get back early or collect anything you need in the morning after 9am.
WC/Showerblock
4 showers, 4 WC and 4 basins, On arrival you are given a key (£5.00 deposit) The locks on the door where a little high up for our daughter to unlock, she is 8 and day time capable of useing the bathroom on her own, but because of the lock height we had to acompany her. The ladies lock was also faulty and at times ackward for even an adult to open. The Facilties were reasonably clean. The block has been built with minimum maintenance in mind, but with not enough consideration for the end user. Basins are small pedistal basins. It would have been much nicer to have a worktop with inset basin so you have some where to put your wash kit. The only place to put them was on the floor or on another basin. There is also no soap for hand washing provided (I think a basic hygene requirement) The showers are hot and powerful, but again no enough consideration to where you put your clothes, towels etc. Even more difficult when showering with my young son. Two clothes hooks just isn't enough! A further problem is the angle of spray from the fixed shower heads. they wash out under the door into the main block area and can also get your clothing and towels wet. On the upside, they are well lit, warm and the piped local radio is a nice touch.
Dish washing facilities Basically useless, There are two sinks with drainers latched onth the side of the building with only cold water supplies. It would be nice to have built a canopy over them so they can be used in inclement weather. A hot water supply for washing up those greesy pans is a must.
Play area The play area is at the front of the site a little to close to the busy main road for my liking. It would have be much better situated more centrally to the site so the tourers and tents could use the play area as well the static caravans.
WARNING When leaving the campsite watch the road, there is a blind corner 30mtrs form the exit
To sum up. Carckwell is really a caravan park with facilities for tents an after thought. The impression given by the staff is 'take it or leave it, We didn't find them particually pleasent. The only time we saw them out of reception was when they came up to the tenting field to make sure we where leaving. Its worth keeping the site noted just incase you can't get in any where else. For us, we will wont be return.
Foot note We had a day out at Pembroke Castle. Well worth the visit, family ticket was just £8.00 for what is one of, not only Wales but UKs best castles. Parking was only 65p for all day.
The beaches all around are beautiful, but watch those ice cream prices!

August 2005 In all honesty, we booked a Caravan as a last minute decision, rang on the very last minute, to be greeted with extremley pleasant staff! We were quoted a very reasonable price, and was very pleased on arrival. The caravan itself was very clean, open and spacious, with enought room for the 6 of us. There was a selection of caravans around the edge of the field with a large open area for the children to play, they also had a great little play area that was set well back from entrance. The park was located in Penally, a small village on the outskirts of Tenby. We did however visit the only other park who had given us a last minute quote, and we were extremley pleased that we had stayed at Crackwell!

July 2005 After deciding on a last minute weekend to Tenby, checked out a few sites on arrival. Wanted a weekend pitch 2 or 3 sites we tryed were only only interested in taking booking for a week. I got the impression they were more interested in caravans. Arrived Crackwell price very reasonable £10 a night and a civilised welcome.
What we liked
Price Nice Family environment Handy for Tenby Fish and Chip van parks about a mile down the road and restaurant nearby. Clean toilets
What we disliked No curtains in shower cubicles ie all your stuff hung up and on floor gets wet. No hot water for washing up ( it says hot on the tap) but it never happens. Most of the pitches on a slope to some degree.
In balance yes we'd go again.
