Have been using this site for 14 years. 12 years camping, now vanners. A great site for our own kids and now grandchildren. Friendly, safe, good facilities. The best things are the stunning views, the noise of steam engines and the people who visit and respect the tranquillity of the place. I would recommend this park to people who have children because of the freedom to play safely on the field. The toilet block on the touring field is very good and has a disabled wet room. A good family run park

We have a lodge here, its a lovely quiet site. My review is not about the camping field as we are based on the other side of the site.
Its a family owned site and they work hard all year round.
Its a lovely place to be, rabbits running everywhere. A beach that's a childhood treasure box. Buy a crab line, take a bucket and away you go, either put bacon on the hook or knock off a barnacle and pen knife it out and use that. Kids get 20 or so crabs in half an hour in their bucket, great fun. The beach is full of fossils, we have collected 100s in our time there.
Swimming pool and small kids play area but slightly older kids just like meeting there and kicking a ball about.
Tropiquaria is just 5 mins in the car, a great day out for kids with animals and play areas etc. Or get a day ticket and go into Butlins. The steam train runs from Watchet, use tesco clubcard vouchers. Watchet is downhill so a bit of a walk home, there are local taxis. Loads of pubs to choose from.
You can fish from the beach here but Blue Anchor the other way down the hill is better for fishing from the beach.
Lots of parking available in Watchet and along Blue Anchor sea front.
Dunster castle near by, or instead of turning up into Dunster turn down onto Dunster Beach.
Been lazy in 2013 and not been down yet as we got a motorhome and the travel bug. I have had many happy years here with my children growing up.
Watch out for Watchet Music Festival, a good weekend.

Been coming to this site for over 5 years. if you love peace and quiet and wildlife then look no further. the owners are fantastic and run the site with their family
I've never seen a site with such lovely views. nice handy shop on site with reasonable prices
Only fault is the swimming pool only opens 3-5 when kids are off school, be nice to have an adults only session
Apart from that we love it there
There are rabbits all over the place and all sorts of wildlife
The shower blocks are spotless and provide hot water to wash basins

We loved this campsite, yes the field was steep but many places where it wasn't so steep. The views are amazing and being right on the west coastal pathway, we walked for miles. The shower rooms/toilets were spotless, 20p tokens from the shop for showers, which were lovely and warm
The shop is good, we didn't get to use the pool. We took a baby, toddler and the dog and the site was all these friendly. The slope back up from the pebbley/rocky beach is very steep but manageable,
We will definitely return.

What a wonderful campsite! We went there with two boys for four nights an enjoyed every moment. Yes it is a very steep slope and it takes a lot to level off but there are plenty of blocks left at the ehu points to aid with this. The shop had everything you need and more and was very reasonably priced too! The toilet block at the top of the site seemed very basic but there is a newly built one on the touring field that is central heated and double glazed, a complete luxury when you're camping. The showers were lovely and warm even when all of them were in use. It was a very quiet site and we fell asleep and woke to the sound of waves and seagulls. The beach was very muddy but absolutely perfect for children wishing to explore rock pools. We drove into Minehead for a sandy beach as this was only a couple of mins away in the car. We definitely intend to return to this site as there is so much to do in the area.

If you like a nice quiet holiday this site is perfect shop is great got everything you could possibly need this is a family run site we started touring here 8 years ago but now have a static unit we have great sea views and there is all sorts of wild life the owners Pete and Virginia are really nice people stick by the site rules and your fine they work all hours to keep the site clean and tidy the shower block in the camping field is kept very clean with a disabled wet room you can leave a touring van there permanently but the site closes a few months the site is a very friendly site with a lot of the people coming back year after year the swimming pool only opens school holidays being one fault every thing else on the site is spot on

Good, clean friendly site.
The touring field at the bottom of the camp site is on a steepish slope! We had to raise the front of our van 4feet to make it level, when your there for a week, it's to much hard work.
There is a play area but it is at the top of the camp site and a good walk for little ones to go on there own, but saying that the touring field is large enough for children to play on, and run about. My children loved it.
You can walk down to the beach, but the path is always full of mud and is really steep! The beach is also muddy. Personally we drive down to Minehead if you want to go on the beach, if you have dogs then head to Blue Anchor bay, dogs are allowed on there!
The toilets are clean.

Think last review by spuddie sums everything up-toilets adequate, sloping camping field though we did find one flat spot with ehu, that said thought this campsite had a rugged charm overlooking the Bristol channel. Did seem more for statics than tourers and not many water taps around the place. Coastal footpath adjacent the site and Watchet can be easily walked along the shoreline at low tide within 25 mins with its quaint harbour and pubs,we tried the GBG listed Star with quality real ales and The Bell for good food though the Star also had an interesting menu too. Paid £13 night with ehu for two and was very quiet at night.

As far as campsites go its clean well maintained. Camping field is on a slope but there are flat parts its good value and the facilities are clean and well looked after. Showers cost 20p tokens from the shop which is well stocked, we managed to forget the pegs which at the time they stocked and we got bread and milk. The price is 50p for swimming only 2hours but then how long do you need. Unlike a lot of sites we didn't feel fleeced. Its not the ritz but we loved it. There are some good shops in watchet and nice pubs. And Minehead and Dunster close.

We visited this site for a 'last minute' overnight stay on Saturday/Sunday, having phoned and enquired on the Friday evening. On arrival the reception/shop was closed so we followed the signs for the camping field to try and pick a pitch, as there were no 'fixed' pitches, and booked in later. We managed to find a spot that was slightly less sloping than the rest of the field - no mean task, we only saw one flat pitch which was, of course, already taken! The views were splendid over the Bristol Channel and the rocky beach easy to reach, only a short walk down a fairly steep but surfaced path. The site has a small but reasonably well stocked shop, a swimming pool and the showers/toilet blocks were adequate for the number of tents on the site at the time. You have to purchase tokens (20p) from the shop to use the showers, the token machines are outside the shower cubicles.
There appeared to be no warden/control evident. Dogs were allowed to run around all over the field and bark/yap/mess even though the site rules state that dogs must be kept under control or on a lead. That said, we did not see a dog exercise area, nor did we notice a playground for the kids, so they were also running around the pitches playing ball etc. This was also probably the noisiest site we have ever stayed at in many years of camping both in UK and Europe, with loud music until well into the night. This probably eminated from Butlins Minehead, across the bay, but when we tried ringing the warden/office to query this we only got an answer machine message - lucky it was nothing more serious!
The local area seemed nice enough with plenty of pubs/shops and a quayside area however we did not sample these as we had our aged dog with us. The site has a barrier system at night, however we were not given a swipe card for this as they were for the static users only. I don't know how you would get out if you needed a hospital etc during the night with the warden, if they had one, on answer machine!
Good value at only £12 for two adults and a dog, however, we will not be returning.
