Our visit here was our first at this site. We had a party of 5 adults and 2 children, and a dog in a very large tent. The price was fantastic as they did not charge us extra for having an extra large tent. When we arrived at noon the shop was closed, on arrival some of the caravans (statics and tourers) looked quite shabby and we wondered what we had let ourselves in for, having said that our stay was very enjoyable. When we finally met the owners they were very friendly and our only real disappointment was the fact that if you take your car of site in the evening you have to be back on the site by 11.00pm or leave your car on a busy main road as the barrier is locked and only permanent residents have a swipe card to activate the barrier. This was a major blow to our plans as we had purposely gone there for the fishing at Blue Anchor over night which would have meant returning after midnight, so had to re-arrange our fishing plans.
The toilets and shower blocks were very clean and well maintained. Showers are very cheap at 20p, the shop when open is well stocked, the pool was closed and when we enquired were told that it would open for the school holidays. The camp field is on a fairly steep slope although there are a few reasonably flat spaces, it has its own beach access which is also on a very steep slope. The beach is not best suited for fishing as it is very rocky and weedy just of shore. Having said all this we would be quite happy to use the site again.

We arrived on fri afternoon and was very impressed with the site although no playground near for the kids, but that wasn't a prob as they used their imagination and there was also so much to do, what with the beech on your door step and they also had a little corner shop with extremely friendly staff and had all you should need when camping. The pool was shut but again we weren't bothered as the weather was fantastic, the field was on a slight slope but we have been to a lot worse, the sunsets were so pretty and we sat up all night chatting.
We popped down to Blue Anchor Bay and saw the famous train, the Tornado, which isn't really my cup of tea but the kids were amazed. We also popped to minehead for the day which is only about 20 mins drive, there were so many other things we wanted to do like go to tropicaria for the kids and dunster as well but just ran out of time.
The toilets were spotless and new, the only fault we had was cold showers in the morn and then my hubby went and had one and it was too hot. You need to buy tokens which are 20p and they have a pot wash room which I never went in.
I chose to come to this site mainly because they hadn't changed the prices and was cheap for the views you get.

We have been going to warren bay for many years now ( I went there as a child ) and now take my own children there.
The family who run it are so friendly and very hardworking.
The shower rooms are always clean and you never have to queue like you do on most other sites and a shower costs only 20p .
There Is a great laundry area, which doesn't cost a fortune to use, which for us a family of 8 helps cut down the cost of our holiday.
The little shop is great and stocks everything - camping accessories, grocery's, toys etc.
My kids love the swimming pool, which costs 50p each to swim for 2 hours.
Last time we were at the site we were told of future plans to renovate the children's play area,
Which I think was needed as after rain it does get a little mucky ! but saying that my kids have never complained.
To me the whole site is just so peaceful, very cheap pitches and you don't have to rush around on your day of departure to be gone by a certain time like most other campsites.
When we visit warren bay we always go home feeling like we have had a proper relaxing holiday.
Watchet village is a beautiful little place, plenty of nice little shops, takeways, coop, and cashpoint.
When the carnival is on in july it does get very busy, but worth going too as the event is just brilliant !
Watchet harbour is great for shrimping and watching the fishing boats.

Just returned from a weekend with friends at warren bay, had a great weekend our party consisted of 4 adults and 7 children ranging from 3-15. Tent pitches are on a slope but once the tent was put up wasn't that much of an issue. Campsite is over looking the sea great view but also very windy. Pool only open for 2 hours a day and very small, but was ok for size of site. Shop could have done with being open a few more hours as only open couple of hours in morning then again in afternoon. Owners very friendly and site very relaxed as no strict time to be off site on day of departure. Showers and toilets were fine, although ladies toilets bins needed to be emptied more often as when we were there they were over flowing and not emptied all day. Showers were fine take 20p tokens available from shop. Washing up facilities. Great for a weekend break with children but not a lot to do in the evenings so for us not an option for a full weeks holiday. Prices are really reasonable we only paid 15.50 per night for bank hoiday weekend

Thought I had to post a review, since the one at the top of the list was so unfair. I suppose I'm a bit biased since I am a camper. The field has got a slope, most campsites have, however if you pitch the tent in the correct direction there is not a problem. Since the field was once a golf course, there are 2 places that have been made flat, tee or green I suppose. They do get snaped up pretty quickly. The views are stunning and going to sleep in a tent with just the sound of the sea is superb. The toilet blocks are excellent, Just been re built, my only objection was waiting for the water to get hot to start my shower (this would not be the case if the camp were busy and the showers being used more). Whilst we were there the old 1 sheet Izal loo paper was replaced by new soft roll.
One suberb sight was sitting in the morning watching Perigrin Falcons flying over my head. They nest on the nearby cliffs.
We had great fun on the beach at low tide collecting fossils and orange alabaster rock. A word of warning it is easy to get trapped as the water does return quickly.
There is a swimming pool on site although we did not use it, and the childrens play area looked fine. Possibly the camp shop could have stayed open longer hours, (maybe in the school holidays it does). The people in the shop were friendly and helpful, if you do need to use your mobile whilst there they will charge it for you in the shop. (I turned mine off), heaven
In the town of Watchet the Star pub has the best real ale and the food is good. Also the fish and chip shop in the town was very good (if you can find it open), tends to close at about 8:30pm.
The other way from the site takes you to Blue Anchour, the pub of the same name as you enter the village again has decent real ale.
A little further afield the village of Dunster by Minehead is very beautifull.
The West Somerset Railway has stations at Watchet and Blue Anchour, treat yourselves to a nostalgic trip behind a GWR side tank engine, the smell of the coal smoke is lovely. Hope you don't get soot in your eye.
My only real criticism was the showery weather, can't blame the site for that, maybe I'll have a quick word with God before we go back.

Stayed here for the Easter weekend 2007. Arrived at 2pm on Good Friday to find the shop & reception shut. A kind & helpful couple from an adjacent static caravan informed us where to go etc etc, & for this we were very grateful. The site is mostly static caravans with a small touring area near to the site entrance & a large but very steep field at the bottom of the site. Being relatively new caravanners we decided to pitch on the top (small) section but the slope on this area still caused us problems. Some of the caravans on the lower field were propped up so high that the hitches were 4 or 5 ft off the ground. The site has a rather shabby indoor swimming pool that opens each day for about 1 hour, & a shop that seemed somewhat threadbare apart from a vast range of spirits. There were separate facilities for the upper & lower touring areas. I cannot comment on the lower block as we did not visit these, however they certainly looked of a better standard than the facilities for the upper touring area. The toilet block had a bare corrugated asbestos roof, steel cubicle doors & hideous single sheet shiny toilet paper. The floor was covered in what appeared to be the previous Autumns leaves, and the general standard of cleanliness was quite simply terrible. There were a few filthy dirty sinks for shaving & washing, & these had to be used as there were no sinks whatsoever in the separate shower block. The separate shower block contained 4 showers of which 3 actually worked, the 4th appearing to have not worked in a very long time. The cubicles were large with an overhead shower nozzle that eventually dispensed quite hot water for about 4 minutes. The showers are operated by tokens costing 20p each from the shop. There floor was simply painted concrete with no matting or anything on which to stand, nor were there any chairs / benches on which to put clothes. It did have the appearance of being freshly painted but there was no heating of any form whatsoever, & the site is advertised as being open the whole year. The couple manning the shop were not at all friendly & gave the impression that simply could not be bothered with touring caravans & tents. This was a far cry from the warm welcome we witnessed for the static caravan owners. It appeared that arrivals were allowed to pitch in pretty much any position they chose with little or no intervention from the site marshalls / stewards. The site is protected by a barrier that is supposed to be lowered between 11pm & 7am. However the barrier was lowered usually around 10:30pm & opened again at more like 8am. Swipe cards for the barrier are only given to static caravan residents, not caravan & tent campers. This we found out to our peril when we arrived back at the site at 10:40pm to find we were locked out. We then had to unload the car & carry our sleeping 16 month old toddler, & all of his associated equipment, down to our caravan in relay fashion. Given that it was quite a cold night we found this infuriating. We had no choice but to abandon the car on the busy A39 for the night. As stated the site sits on the A39 a short distance from the village of Watchet, however there is no footpath along the road & it is somewhat dangerous. The village of Watchet is nice with a few pubs etc, & there is a nice family pub at Blue Anchor Bay which is a few miles along the A39. Minehead is about 10 minutes away by car. We paid £10 a night for our pitch that included the 12Amp Hook-Up. Overall this site is more for the benefit of the static caravan owners, & if it were not for the steep slope of the lower field I suspect they would not hesitate to fill this with static caravans also. The small area at the top being simply too small for any static caravans. I have since heard that this is to be the case as they are intent on bulldozing the field into terraces & will no longer offer touring pitches.
I would not use this site again, & unfortunately I can not recommend it.

August 2003 We stopped here for 1 night on our way to Cornwall, but the grandchildren enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra night. Enjoyed the walk along the beach to Watchet, which was just about the right distance. We had a nice pitch across from the shop, although not very level it was ideal as we could keep our eyes on the kids. Great play area. Shop sold more or less everything and at good prices. Nice swimming pool which opens for 2 hours in the afternoons, costs 50p.
Staff very friendly and helpful. We paid £6.50 per night.Had electric hook up 2nd night which cost an extra £1.50.For August we thought this was great value for money. The toilets by the swimming pool were basic but clean, only downside was the shiny toilet paper--but gave the kids a history lesson about the good old days!

August 2002 On the coast, a short walk from Watchet along the coast path, this large site mostly consists of static caravans - there is another similar site almost next door (Warren Farm).
The main site has a very good shop and a childrens swimming pool. Campers are directed to a field by the sea - you get a very nice view and access to the beach, but at the price of having to pitch on a steep slope. It must also be said that the toilet block for this part was rather horrible when we visited, although you could use other blocks elsewhere on the site.
In summary, quite nice camping, especially if you find one of the scarce flat bits, but you may choose to let your personal hygene standards slip while you are there.
