Hello, I am currently located at Wyburns Farm Caravan and camping site, in the house and would just like to let everyone know that we have been working hard to bring to site up to the standard that is required from the people staying. We have been building the foundation to a new toilet block and shower and an office that will be situated away from the house and also we have set up camping regulated pitch electric hook ups, that just need to activated and hopefully we want to have it all finished this year. We do apologise for any problems occurred on some occasions. Richard Stokes, Owner

A really good site as a base for the area, Southend only 5 miles up the road and a huge country park even closer. Dog friendly with a dog walk adjacent, surrounded by trees and ponies you would not know you are about 200 yards from a built up area.
Basic facilities but every thing you need on this type of site. Very little road noise considering you are on the A127. We didn't look at the toilets because we didn't use them but every thing else on site was clean.
All the shops and supermarkets you will need 1 mile away.
Will definitely visit again.

I registered especially to counter some of the comments previously made about this campsite. We stayed for one night mainly to test a new tent, and we didn't need a fancy campsite. The facilities are basic, but nowhere did I ever get the impression that they were any different. The site is on a gentle slope (field 2) but hardly noticable. It is perfectly suitable for camping and if you want no-frills (as we did) then it is perfectly fine.
A previous review is somewhat misrepresenting the campsite especially on the electric hookup, David (the owner) told me that he provided this at their request and didn't expect them to use so much current - he was unsure of exactly it was being used for, but whatever it was overloaded his circuit. Personally speaking if you are camping in march you need to be prepared for the elements and its unusual for the campers I know to need electricity ????
This is a lovely little site - run as a labour of love and not a business (hence the limited facilities) but if you want a few nights in a nice little spot, with horses and farm cats and not a lot else then it comes recommended.

We stayed on this camp site early this year, the site is not child friendly, the only thing the kids can do is look at the horses and they are told to go away as the horses are nothing to do with the campsite. The toilet block is one toilet on the side of the house which every one has to share. The electric was a multi plug in the greenhouse with normal extension leads on it which was covered by a black sack in the middle of the field *

We stayed on the site for 4 nights, the only toilet and wash basin was shared with stable hands. The electric hook up was a normal household extension lead that took four plugs inside a green house. This tripped regularly and to flip the switch again you had to climb into the compound where they kept their dogs - luckily they were in the house most of the time. The only good thing was we now know our tent will withstand heavy rain, high winds and snow! There are shops very close by but traffic noise from A127 which is very close
