Looked at this site, usually have a touring caravan but as the touring site is virtually a mile away from the entertainment complex, we decided to rent a static van instead to be closer.

What a mistake, we where at the top of the site so still 3/10ths of a mile away, (you can get a shuttle bus but they charge 50p per person inc. Small children) but the biggest issue, we opened the door to the static van and a smell of wet dog hit you.

Inside, the carpets and seating where covered in dog hairs, Dog slime all over the windows. Later found out the Ignitor on the oven was broken, and there was a leak under the vanity unit in the sink in the bathroom, so constantly cleaning up puddles on the floor.

When I reported the issues no replacement was offered but two cleaning ladies did come out for 10 minutes, Vacuumed the floor, cleaned the windows & spayed fabreeze around. But the smell still lingered for the whole weekend.

The complex itself is good, two bars or entertainment rooms, a large restaurant & separate Bar, very large amusement arcade. A Spar shop selling all the basics. Everything for the kids, but all charged for (I would of thought they would be inclusive in the price?)

Overall the complex is good but just let down by very poor cleaning & maintenance of the vans and charging you for absolutely everything.

Would I go again - NO there are much better cleaner & well laid out sites around which offer the same type of facilities at better rates.

Hope this helps

Cheers

John

This was our first visit to a Haven site it was very busy as expected being half term. We were on a super pitch next to the railway line the hardstanding was level and plenty large enough for our 6 berth van there is a small gravelled area for a awning and our pitch had a picnic bench. Our main problem was the drainage all the services are situated well behind the van, our water hose and electric hook up reached but not the drainage pipe even though it is extra long so the warden who was very helpful helped me to push the van back off the rear of the hardstanding and site it on the grass but even though the pipe then reached the drains have been made much higher than the pitch to my knowledge water doesn't flow up hill I do not use a wastemaster as a single mother with 2 special need children I go on super pitched to keep the jobs to a minimum so this was a pain every time I emptied a sink you had to go outside to lift the pipe along the length to empty it.

The toilet block was clean and tidy but the disabled showers are within the male and female blocks difficult to impossible if your carer is of the opposite sex my one son found the shower floor too slippery to manage showering alone. The ladies contain 3 showers one of which is a disabled The water was extremely hot too hot for my 6 yr old. The soap dispensers were also too high for her to reach. You had to pay a £5 deposit for the toilet key and the children found to hard to turn also the knob on the inside is small so if you have problems with your grip it is difficult to turn and while there I found several children trapped in the ladies because they couldn't turn the door knob.

The main area is about a mile away we mostly walked it but you could ring for the minibus. We didn't use the entertainment because it was too loud for my boys but we did use the pools, the outdoor pool was shut until the last day there, the rapids were freezing due to boiler problems indoor pools clean but very busy and it was quite hard to find a locker with a key.

Tescos is 10 mins by car in Prestatyn and open to midnight much better than the overpriced spar The chippy is expensive with small portions the chippy off site was much better and closer. It is quite a walk to the beach the sand has lots of dune grass and pebbles the sea was a long way out but the kids played in the pools left behind. It is a good park but the touring does not seem important to them the carpark is full of statics for sale so although you can stay on park till 6pm there is only room for a couple of vans to park up. Security on the gate made me laugh I just said touring and was let in with no checks a bit pointless

Staff friendly and helpful, most pitches hard standing. Toilet block clean put could do with some new locks on some of the gents toilet doors.

Lots of walks from site. Bought a cod fish at the cooks fish & chips was overpriced and undersized £5. 45. I think they should rename it Crooks fish & chips. Site was kept free of litter and grounds were well kept. Would visit this site again. Got a good deal for the pitch in January sale. Everyone quiet on site after 23-30

Stayed for a weekend break, 2 nights have to say reception on arrival was very good could select our own pitch. The showers were dated and toilets seemed to lack toilet rolls, but for £19 a night you can not really complain. The big disappointment was the pub next to the touring park they only opened weekends and was cold inside dirty and most of the beers not available, to be honest they might as well stay shut. The campsite is what you would expect from haven just like many others we have been to. We did have breakfast in the complex which was good value for money.

Gorgeous little caravan site for tourers.

Weather left a lot to be desired though!

Toilets clean and showers never got busy. Very hot water and ample amounts of it. We chose this site as we had grandkids with us and needed to keep them amused on prestaven site.

Very good price for tourers, staff were lovely and the pitches were hardstanding and grass. We were on hardstanding, really large spaces to move caravan easily without using the motor mover.

Shuttle bus to the haven site, but we drove as parking is free and we wanted to leave our picnic stuff in our car.

Pool lovely for children and they have an outside pool that was popular. All in all, very pleased as we had heard horror stories about some of the statics that can be rented. So we took our own!

Met by the warden, helped to push van on hard standing. Tremendous view from van to the hills above the excellant bells of st Mary's carvers. Fabulous time had by family visiting pool on free fun bus. Facilities ie shower block was dated however very dean and warm. Girls enjoyed the play area and we had a pub that overlooked the swings. Would I go back well yes, it's a haven you pay for what you get.

We have just come back from a cheap 4 night stay. I was pleasantly surprised by the touring site, it was clean, we'll laid out and quiet. The warden, Brian, was a lovely bloke, very friendly and helpful. The toilets were clean and warm, pot wash could do with a bit of a tidy up, but paper plates helped overcome that problem! We were glad to be situated at the top end of the camp, as it was really busy on the main site. Kids would easily spend a fortune if given the opportunity. Pool good and my son enjoyed the football area. We took bikes, great way to get around, and good, flat cycling straight from the campsite. My daughter met some lovely friends and would have stayed in the play area for her whole time there. Overall, a good break, you have the best of both worlds being away from the main area.

Arrived to be met by [very helpful] the warden who told us to pick pitch and tell him later. Toilet/showers Gents are the same ones that were there 17yrs before [last time we were there] with little bit of paint heating added, other half said ladies was same. Warden told us he hoped to get them updated but does not know when.

We used the free minibus [stops 9pm prompt] to go to complex, which is same as all other Haven sites. On way back up to touring no light on main road but cars help you to see.

Best way to get to site don't use sat nav go through Flint its easier for towing as well. Playground very good our grand [ankle biters] kids liked it there.

We had a weeks stay in the summer holidays. Was actually quite surprised how nice it was. Have been to loads of Haven sites and some are better than others.

This is a big lively site and we usually go for the smaller ones. Yes its a mile to the main complex but there was a free minibus. Swimming pool and activities were fantastic.

Kids loved the racing track. There's a large play area close to the pitches.

It does feel a bit like the touring area is separate from the main Haven site but not a problem. Full time warden on site and shower block clean.

Beach close but not the best. Expensive to go in school hols but that's always the case at Haven.

Wouldn't rule out another visit

Arrived on site to be welcomed by Brian the warden, who was helpful with all details. Told us to pick our own pitch, which we did, right opposite the play park. Kids never left the park the whole time we were in the caravan. They loved it, no missing pieces while we were there. The pub was open, but it was a bit dated. People were friendly enough though.

Showers were fine, location was fine and the facilities for the kids were excellent. Outdoor lazy river, which is open when it rains. Outdoor heated pool, which is open when it rains, indoor pool with slide and normal pool. Usual entertainment that a Haven has, its a very lively park with lots to do.

Only a couple of criticisms are that the touring park is 1 mile away from the facilities, so we had to use the car to get there. Also a fun fair on the park is good for kids but is £2 a ride, so we didn't go on that often.

Try not to follow the sat nav from the north west as we were taken through a small village and it was hard to negotiate with the caravan attached. Use the road from Chester as its much easier.

We thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely return.
