This was our third visit to this site and second review (see review of August 2013). No point repeating what I wrote back then but a short update is in order.
There is now a TV booster system in place so provided you have a 10 metre cable extension (can also be purchased in shop on site) you can get all the yorkshire area channels.
Still no dog walk of course but the morning constitutional can be accomplished 'out of the gate' and there are just miles of 'footpath' walks in this part of the world.
Other than the 'Coiners' in Mytholmroyd (turn left out of the gate) and the 'Robin Hood' & 'Hinchcliffe Arms' up Cragg Vale (turn right out of the gate) we have found another gem in the 'Shepherds Rest Inn'. Fantastic views, lovely old pub, good food and drink and great staff. Head through Hebden Bridge picking up the Todmorden/Rochdale road and look out for the brown info signs. Really worth the narrow road that takes you up the hill.
Negatives? Well not much good if you have children (no play area) and also the (well advised) lack of toilet/wash facilities make it less than ideal for families. On the flip side the aforementioned does mean it is very quiet and tranquil for us 'older ones'
Other than that we can't fault it, we love it and will return for a fourth time, maybe as early as this autum.

This site is set half way up Cragg Vale just down the road from Hebden Bridge its pretty easy to get here the roads are a bit hilly around so make sure your outfit is happy on hill starts. The site is well laid out and mostly hard standing which is all pretty level. One side is fairly close to the road which you may be able to hear but its not a busy road, on the opposite side runs the river Cragg down a steep embankment which was running quite fast as we had the Bank Holiday rain, otherwise its a very peaceful site, theirs no kids play areas or other noisy environments.
When we arrived the site office was closed and only opens for a few hours twice a day, our choice of pitches was clearly shown and a map of the site so we could get pitched up, when I went back to pay and book in I was warmly welcomed and given all the information I needed, It was reiterated that there is no toilet or shower block on this site.
The Points that you need to be aware of, There is no toilet/shower facilities here so you need to use your vans facilities, TV signals here are really bad, there is boosted TV connection points for you to connect to but even this can only get around a dozen of the freeview channels.
Everything else about this site, its a really nice peaceful site, its very well maintained, clean and tidy. Mobile phone signals are pretty good on EE and Three. There are shops only a 10 minutes drive away.
Would we stay there again, Yes without hesitation. Its a nice clean well maintained site that although it has no on site facilities you are made fully aware of that and that doe not take from any of the charm of the site.

Just stayed here for 3 nights over bank holiday. What a lovely site a credit to the wardens. Site has no toilet block but don't let this put you off there is also no play area for children so mainly adults. Site shop is stocked with all your basics Sainsbury's local + co-op in mythmroyd 10 mins walk. 2 pubs one in either direction from site entrance did not try either but both recommended by previous site users. Good dog walks just off site plus information slip given on arrival with one hour flat(ideal says my wife)walk along canalinto hebden bridge with numerous bars, cafes, etc to suit every taste.

What a super little site. The wardens couldn't be friendlier and the setting is lovely. To give a balanced review I should state that there is no shower/toilet block and no play area for kids, also some pitches are near the road so suffer from noise at certain times.
This small site is well situated for Mytholmroyd, a short walk away, and Hebden Bridge, a longer walk away. It is also on the doorstep of Cragg Vale and close to the Calderdale Way. The area is very pretty with lots of lovely countryside to explore. Hebden Bridge has many places to eat and shop and has a laid back feel to it.
This was our first time to a site with no 'facilities' and we would have absolutely no hesitation in going back. Apart from the lack of a play area for our little ones the site has everything else you could need. As I said at the start, a super little site.

Stayed on the site for 9 days and loved it. Very quiet but local enough to most facilities. If entering from Mythmolroyd its about a mile from the town, did not see any brown signs and postcode search shows almost in town so don't do like us and think you missed it, big signs at entrance. Take care as entering as single track for incoming and leaving. Wardens were absolutely spot on and nothing was to much trouble.
Facilities were always spotless and recycling is a nice touch, though note there are no toilet or showers on site. Only negative for us was the pitches are quite tight to get on, not helped that ours is a long unit with the car on and we have no motor mover, so pick your pitch. That said pitches themselves are well sized, some shaded and some sunny.
The site is about a 15 min walk from the town, there are various eateries, pub, Sainsbury direct, launderette, train station etc. The Rochdale Canal flows down the top end, long 15 mile walk through Hebden Bridge, Todmorden (nice wetherspoons if you want refreshments half way), on to Littleborough and half a mile up the road is Hollingworth Lake and train back or shorter 7 mile walk through Sowerby Bridge to Halifax for something shorter. Lovely views from the tops but beware as roads are narrow and steep with some very tight bends. Not much in the area for kids but if you like walking or peace and quiet this should be right up your street.

Just spent 3 nights at Hebden Bridge, which was our first time here. We usually pick sites with lots of facilities especially good, clean toilet blocks. This site of course does not have such a facility, however despite this it is a super little site. My wife and I actually used our own shower facilities in the 'van, which was a first for me and it was great. We were met on arrival by the relief warden, who was very friendly and helpful and always had time for you throughout our stay.
The site itself is very quiet and peaceful, yet well placed some 25 minutes from the M 62 and close to Hebden Bridge, Mythumroyd, Sowerby Bridge, Haworth etc, which are all worth a visit. We also visited Heptonstall, which is a quaint little village that time seems to have forgotten! with quaint little cottages, a cobbled main street with no traffic and 2 pubs and a school.
We had a hard standing which was alongside a stream and bathed in the Autumn sunshine on 2 of the days we were there. I should add that all the campsite users were adults, which is not surprising because there is nothing for children to do, although this is not a criticism, it suited us.
I would recommend the Hinchliffe Arms, which is about 3/4 mile above the site, for excellent beers, fantastic food and very friendly and attentive owner and staff.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back.

Just back from a 5 night, pre August bank-holiday break. Its the first time we have booked a site without toilet/shower and washing up facilities.
The site does not have CC Wi Fi at this time, mobile phone coverage is intermittent and TV coverage is also pretty average(in our case we could only get a limited number of channels, all BBC.
That's the negatives out of the way (if indeed they can be considered negatives, tends to depend on what you want/need from a site. Now the positives; Typical CC site, beautifully maintained by the wardens (John & Jean) who go out of their way to help out with any issue, they also sell local free range eggs which are very good.
The small number of pitches by CC standards and the lack of toilets/washing up facilities means the site appears to appeal to mature couples, by far the largest group present. Therefore I suspect the site appeals less to younger folk and those with children, there is no play are for the young ones. This all lends itself to the lovely, quiet laid back feel the site already has.
Outside the site there are excellent walks up the 'Cragg' and on the moors. For a more gentle walk try the towpath along the Rochdale canal which runs throught village of Mythumblroyd and stretches from Rochdale (unsurprisingly) to Halifax. A great walk/cycle ride.
Eating wise there is the 'Dusty Miller & Coiners Restaurant' in Mythumblroyd which is almost opposite the bridged turning off the Burnley Road up to the site in Cragg Vale. Turning right out of the site and further up Cragg Vale on the left is the 'Robin Hood' pub which is just fantastic, good food, real ale, lager from Europe (Belgium and German) and home cooked food at very reasonable prices. Slight further up the Cragg and off to the right is the 'Hinchcliffe' which as someone put it 'more of a restaurant with beer than a pub with food'. More expensive than the Robin Hood but the quality and service cannot be criticised.
There are bus stops right outside the site so easy to travel to and from Hebden Bridge (gorgeous at this time of year) and further afield if you desire.
Was our first visit to the site, will not be our last and in fact we hope to visit again before it closes for winter on the 7th Nov.
I have not marked the site down in respect to site facilities as it clearly states on the site write up that there are no toilets so you know what you are getting.

A 2 night stay over a lovely weekend, despite the changeable weather.
No toilet block or food prep room like the bigger sites; but what this site lacks in facilities it more than makes up for in charm, atmosphere and friendly staff.
The site is small and the surrounding hills and woods seem to loom over you as you relax in a cocoon of peace and quiet, the only sound of an evening is the river that runs along the nearby gorge; I've never spent so long just sitting and relaxing as I have at this site.
Go out of the gate, turn right and head up to the Robin Hood pub for lovely real ales and great food; it has the best steak and ale pie I've ever eaten!

This charming little site is so handy for exploring Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge and beyond.
The site is easy to find and set back from the main road. The wardens are friendly and helpful and the site is immaculately maintained.
We have a motorhome and called to explain there would be a second car (a classic as we were showing at Hebden Bridge car show). We were told this would be fine and upon arrival was advised which pitch would be offer most space for the motorhome and car - a nice touch I thought.
Most of the pitches are hardstanding and rock pegs would be needed for the awning.
Since the digital switch over, there is little or no reception and being in a valley surrounded by trees I suspect it would be difficult to get a satellite signal, however, each pitch has a TV hook-up point and cables are available to buy at reception.
I have to say, this has been the friendliest site I've visited so far and everyone had great things to say about the site.
The negatives: Some road noise, although we hardly heard anything. Some noise from the river to the other side, again we hardly noticed.
The only real downside is there are no toilet and shower facilities, the addition of this would make this site perfect for us.
Not an ideal site for families as there's no play facilities for children and this is an idyllic peaceful site. Probably too quiet for families.
We will certainly visit again, and for a longer stay next time.

Stayed here for 4 nights over Easter. Lovely site in a an area which had lots to do. Wardens really nice and friendly and the site is immaculate as always with a CC site.
No showers or toilets on site, small shop which sells basics, good pubs/walks cycling in the area.
Great kids park in Hebden Bridge and fab skateboard/bmx park at Hebden Bridge Park.
Really enjoyed it, would have been perfect if there was a small play area on the site but its a quiet and peaceful site so if that's what you want its perfect.
