Positives: This is a beautiful campsite above a glorious beach. Spacious pitches, lots of room for children to play. Lovely women's loo and shower block. Excellent walks and local area.
Negatives: Very very expensive in high season. Can be very windy at times - our friends' gazebo was destroyed! There are only two men's shower trays in a strange communal changing area. The men's loos and showers are tired looking. No fires allowed which meant the windy evenings sitting outside while our children were asleep in the tent were particularly cold. Very few flat pitches in the lower two fields.
However the fires and early evening barbecues on the beach below the campsite were a magical part of our holiday. We were very lucky with the weather and the tides.

Update on facilities. There are now 4 spacious private showers on the women's side, and there is still the family/disabled shower room. Another improvement this year, as far as we are concerned, is the wireless, which now reaches to the bottom field (I am writing this/listening to my radio on my iPad in my tent. ) It costs £10 for more or less unlimited use.
Other reviewers have complained about value for money. As we don't go anywhere else I have nothing to compare Pencarnan to, but you would be paying at least 4 times as much for a decent cottage in Pembrokeshire in August.
As far as we are concerned you are paying for very low density of tents, incredible views, a lovely beach that is effectively private, and a great location - and being with other people who feel the same way who come back year after year.
My only warning would be to bring a robust tent, spare poles and/ or an emergency tent, as strong winds are a regular feature of this headland.
Last week even the top field got caught, with five tents damaged. I find having more than one door to my tent also helps to deal with the changing wind direction.

Great location but a bit exposed for tents if the weather is bad. A few tents collapsed this weekend - with a moderate wind hitting the lower camping field.
There is a great cove just below the campsite and Whitesands beach not far away.
Very expensive and, for the money, poor facilities - for example toilets dirty with no paper in some cubicles, only two male showers and these were communal - who does communal showers in this day and age!
There are plenty of other campsites to choose from locally so my advice would be to pick and choose - although you wont get a better view than you get here.

We've stayed here lots of times over the last 10 or more years. Most recently with a group of friends and several small children. The location is spot on (1 min walk to coast path and quiet little beach) and the site is very good.
All facilities are excellent also. However I was shocked to see such a huge price increase this year. It would almost have been cheaper to hire a cottage locally for our group than camp!. Still a great site for richer campers!.

On the basis of my experience this could well be the most expensive camp site in the UK! Despite this, as other reviewers have noted, the facilities fall well short of many others charging far less - the staff acknowledged this and said there were 'plans' to increase / improve shower / toilet provision.
The main redeeming feature is the direct beach access (just as well in view of the queue for showers). For us, the original attraction of great sea/cliff views was not actually available since we were stuck in one of the upper fields overlooking the static vans, albeit a quieter location. For us, definitely a site to be avoided.

The position is excellent, but I was expecting a superior campsite with above average facilities.
With only two womens showers queuing was very frequent at busy times.
We paid over £500 for a family of three (two adults and one child),for a fortnight.
The dog mess mentioned by others, was probably due to the farm dog.
The beach and its access from the campsite would be hard to beat, and allowed dogs which the adjacent beach,Whitesands Bay,does not provide.

Just arrived back from Pencarnan Farm. Prices,Very, very, expensive.
Only two showers for the ladies in one room leaving no privacy, especially when you have a strangers two toddlers playing peek a boo around the shower curtain. Two showers are not adequate considering the amount of people camping on the site. The toilets are kept very clean.
There are electric hook ups, but not enough. We had to use gas.
This site is for young families not for those who want peace and quiet. The site needs a separate play area and perhaps a play room for when the weather is bad.
The scenery around this area is breath taking, Lovely sandy beaches and ideal for those of us who like walking along the coastal path. St David's is lovely with it's Cathedral & shops, a well stocked food hall which sells everything you need.
We wouldn't recommend or go back to this site because of the prices charged per person, but we would and shall go back to this area because of its outstanding beauty.

This was a first holiday camping for some years, previously I had stayed at this site as a child. We were not disappointed with this site, we pitched in the top field, with views of the sea and White Sands Bay, the water taps were within a short distance of our tent, the shower block and toilets were a few minutes walk away. We could pitch where we liked in the field except in the middle, this is left free, which leaves plenty of room for games. Only a short 5 minute walk away is the private beach, which was fantastic, water flows off the cliffs to the sea making the perfect place for children to dam, make sandcastles and play. When the tide was out, the rock pools were amazing and safe, plenty of sealife to be found. The cove itself was very sheltered and the beach clean.
he facilities at the site were nicely maintained, the washing up sinks (2) were busy at peak times, but clean and the water hot. The toilets were plentiful, although the showers (2) in the ladies were a little basic, not private apart from a separate area within the main toilet block. The water was hot at all times used, and kept very clean. A nice touch was the lower sinks for the children to wash their hands. The site shop stocked all the usual items you may need and more, the staff were helpful and friendly.
St Davids is only a short drive from the site. Overall we had a lovely time, the children loved the beach and having plenty of room to run around safely close to the tent. We will definitely be returning next year.

We arrived at the campsite after quite a bit of difficulty finding it. We were expecting to pay £10 per adult but were informed the price had increased to £15 per adult and £6 per child. Now for me personally this seems an extortionate amount to pay for a nights camping, no one else has mentioned the price which makes me wonder if people see this as quite acceptable. Yes the campsite was neat and tidy and yes nice views and access to the beach and toilet block quite decorative and clean. Couldn't see the justification for the price, yes, hot showers but not many of them, no children's play area, no indoor heated swimming pool, just taking advantage of the location to bump up the price.

What a fantastic campsite – highly recommended! It’s in the most beautiful location – with tent pitches overlooking the Porthsele beach, nearby cliff edge walks and St David’s Head (exquisite) to explore. Stunning sunsets can be seen from this elevated position. The toilet facilities are very well maintained. Only a short drive to St David’s Town where there are surf shops, chemists, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. Absolutely wonderful!
