Wonderful place for a camping holiday. The pitches are superb - ours was directly by the coast path with unbelievable views of the sea and St Davids Head - what sunsets! The showers, loos and other facilities are first class and the beach is idyllic. Lovely family atmosphere, everyone very considerate and friendly. On the pricey side but par for the course for the level of facilities: given the location, incredible value for money. Could not recommend more strongly.

We went to this campsite during the last week of July, when a lot of the country was experiencing some of the worst floods for years. It was very wet and very windy, but that didn't put us off. If you're looking for bars, nightclubs and noise then this is not the place for you. However If you're looking for peace, tranquillity and stunning views over the Irish sea then it doesn't get much better than this. We did have a few good days which we spent on the lovely beach that is situated right next to the campsite. You can take the coastal path over to Whitesands Beach where a little van sells some of the best ice cream I've ever tasted. The toilet block is clean and bright and despite there only being 2 showers I never had to queue. The shop is fine, fairly typical of a campsite shop, and we didn't experience any dog poo incidents which some people have mentioned. But for me (living in East Anglia) the absolute best bit was watching the sunset over the sea, truly spectacular.
I would definitely visit this campsite again.

Stayed for a few nights over May Bank Holiday weekend with wife and two little ones and had a great time.
Facilities were very clean and well maintained both mens and, taking my wife's word, the females. The shop was well stocked although, as always with campsites, expensive but there was a deli about 5 minutes drive in St Davids (which was also expensive) or Morrison's about 35 minutes away in Haverfordwest. There was a mobile food van which also visited which served really good, healthy food and the vegetarian chili and naan bread was a welcome relief from beans on toast. The site was clean and well maintained with good short grass and the pitches were nicely spaced out and with tents allowed only around the edges near the walls/hedges, there was plenty of space for kids (and adults) to throw a frizby/kick a ball. Plenty of flat pitches in three fields. There was no laundry in site however, a local petrol station offering the only option. As we were there only 3 days this was not a problem but for longer periods this might be a bit irksome. More serious however, was the dog mess. I am no dog hater, in fact, I love animals of all kinds but I found that some of my fellow campers were not as careful as I would have liked and with two little ones running around with bare feet, I was a tad concerned. Come on people, pick it up.
The surroundings were delightful. Sat atop a cliff the views were stunning and the site is adjacent to the Coastal Path which we took full advantage of. The site is far enough away from civilisation to be quiet but close enough to the lovely St Davids and other small villages if you want some local interest. Small, private beach only a stone's throw which was clean and quiet and again great for the kids.
No play areas for the kids but this forced them to be more active and thoughtful about their play which is no bad thing.
In short, great site, great views, great owners.
Would I return? YES, DEFINITELY.

The location of this site is absolutely perfect. It's a little further on from the "touristy" campsites which are rammed with people, yet it's not at all basic, the facilities (showers, loo's, washing up) were excellent, clean, and modern, (the ladies toilets even had the free use of two hairdryers) it was quiet, the fields were spotless, water conveniently allocated and the beach a 30 second walk from the field, down a little stone step path, which even our 2 year old could navigate (with help!). They have installed water tanks because of the low water pressure in St Davids, the water board (as usual) were unhelpful, so they installed their own tanks which mean showering is limited to 10 minutes each to conserve water, but the water pressure is great so you get a brilliant shower! The beach is sandy, with lots of lovely rockpools to go crabbing in, and it's smaller than whitesands, but still big enough to accomodate a fair few people. The water was FREEZING but the waves were fantastic! The people were incredibly friendly, the shop on site was well stocked with food and essentials, I even managed to get the beach shoes for my 2 year old that I'd been hunting for and couldn't find in shops at home! Cheap camping too, our dog loved it, we introduced her to the other campers and she was allowed to run around the field and make friends, and she was also allowed on the beach. There are facilities to dispose of waste, and picking up your dog mess is a must. Only thing I could possibly say is that a games room or something of that sort, and maybe a childrens play area are the only things that could improve an already marvelous site! Thumbs up!

WOW! This has absolutely the best location of any campsite I've ever stayed at. Perched on the cliff tops with a view across Whitesands Bay, and a quieter but equally sandy little cove. This is just a moments walk from the campsite. The Pembrokeshire coast path skirts the campsite so for hikers this is also an ideal spot. During my visit the shower/toilet block were perfectly clean and I didn't need to queue at all. Friendly little messages about the local wildlife, and farm dog were a nice little touch.

September 2003 I have visited Pencarnan several times a year for nearly twenty years, as my parents were fortunate enough to own a caravan on the site up until March this year. The site itself is fantastic with its incredibly beautiful views and a fantastic beach less than five minutes walk away. It's close to St Davids; a few minutes by car or a nice walk (parking in St Davids is limited but there is a Park and Ride scheme), with some buses running during the tourist season. Haverfordwest is not too long a journey for main shopping. The location is perfect for a quiet holiday by the sea with day trips to Whitesands beach, Carn Llidi or even St Davids Head and beaches such as New Gale near by for dedicated surfers. However, the management of the site is not very efficient. Due to a fire a few years ago, the shop is now only half the size it used to be, and the prices for staying at the site are excessive for what is provided. Caravans are sometimes available to rent but even then the prices are excessive despite fascilities such as electricity. I love the site and always will but changes introduced by the owners over recent years have led me to reccommend alternatives in the local area. There are B&B's and cottages with similar views and in the nearby area (St Davids, Solva) that are better value for money and are close enough for people to gain the full experience. Look around at what else is on offer in the local area to find the best deal to suit you.

August 2004 Visited this site for 6 nights in the middle of the school holidays.
The field we were in had about 10 tents/caravans in, a field of this size would normally have at least 30 and more likely 50 pitches. Amazing amount of room for each pitch. There are 2 fields at the top of the site and 2 lower down close to the coastal path
Lovely small beach, nice site pleasant owners. Some nice evening walks
Couple of downsides - Quite expensive, there are only 2 male showers to share for the whole site.

June 2004 We visited during the half term holiday earlier in June. The amenities are quite basic and the prices not low, however the splendid views were more than adequate compensation.
We chose to pitch our tent close to the coastal path which meant we had views from our tent down to the small secluded beach. The downside is that it was a bit of a hike to get to the shower block.
If you want a quiet location with scenic views then I would highly recommend this site.

Sept 2003 Access to the site is down a very rough track. We dragged the bottom of the car a few times.
The main facility block is clean and very well managed with free hot water and dish washing area outside.
Top views and good access to the beach. the field we were in was massive and only had 2 other campers and it was very quiet. The web site is accurate in all descriptions.
Woke on the first night to a badger who had got in our frame tent and was making off with a french stick! So beware of what you do with rubbish and left over food.
