Just returned from a wonderful weeks holiday at Scoutscoft. We were not supposed to be there but a hitch in our holiday plans meant that we spent time here and I am very glad we did.

All staff on site are very friendly and very helpful. Touring pitches are electric hook up only, but that did not deter us. Our pitch was huge and the kids had plenty of room to play.

An aerial is provided for the TV and you have to pay a £10 deposit.

Toilet block was accessed via a key which you pay a £10 deposit for. Showers were clean and plenty of hot water.

Coldingham Bay Beach was about 10 minutes walk down a lovely lane, scenic from the start to the end, where the dogs are also welcome. Beach was beautiful!

On site there is a chip shop, (fab place to eat), Scooties Bar, an arcade and soft play area for the kids and a bar/lounge for adults/kids. There is also Creels Restaurant. Can't comment on any of the food apart from the chip shop, but spoke to others who said it was lovely.

The kids loved the entertainment at night, quizzes, kids Bingo, and for the adults, Bingo, quizzes, karaoke, race nights, etc, but the children are all welcome as it is a family lounge area.

We had a brilliant time, kids loved it to. Would recommend it to anyone.

Just returned from a weekend at this beautiful site. Grounds well kept. Toilets / showers clean. Short walk to Coldingham which has a Spar shop and a few pubs / restaurant.

Short walk to lovely beach. 5 minutes drive to Eyemouth. The entertainment lounge was great. Kids played at the Tarzan swing for ages.

There is a games room/amusements for kids. TV cable supplied for Digital TV. Also a restaurant and cafe and takeaway chippie on site but we didn't use any of these so cannot comment. Can't wait to go back.

Having just returned to caravanning after several years break, we have been attempting to get around as many sites as possible with the intention of finding one we would like to use as a seasonal.

This is a reasonable site but could do better.

It's major appeal to me was its location. It sits at the edge of the lovely town of Coldingham. From the campsite there is a short 5 minute walk to beautiful Coldingham Bay where dogs are allowed. A 5 minute drive around the bay, or a 15 minute walk, also takes you to the equally beautiful St Abbs then there is also the other option of a 10 minute drive to Eyemouth with a nice beach and harbour area where you can feed seals from the harbourside.

This is an area which I was not aware of but would highly recommend to anyone who appreciates beauty, quaintness and dog & child friendliness.

However, with all that attraction around it, I believe Scoutscroft could just do that extra bit to make this a site worthy of its locale. I'm not saying it's a bad site but, if I compare it to the other sites I've recently visited, then it falls short.

Although the site is generally clean, there are still areas for improvement. For example, the grass needed cut and in the week we were there nobody tended to any of the grass or flower beds on the site. Compare that to The Gart and Yellowcraig where it was constant maintenance.

Pitch sizes were good but there were no fully serviced pitches although there is the provision of an extended aerial lead as the analogue TV signal is poor & you can only get a digital signal via the supplied aerial lead. On a positive note, I reported to the reception desk that our aerial appeared not to be working and within minutes there was someone in attendance who rectified the problem.

The 'all important' toilet block could have been better, especially the water pressure. The washhand basins provided a dribble of water and the showers were not much better. The mirrors at the washhand basins were situated at waist height (I'm 6') due to the position of the windows above. This made shaving a ridiculous exercise as I had to stoop to the extreme to use the mirror.

I was sure I had read on the site that there was a strict 'no noise' policy after 11pm, however, on one of the 2 occasions I visited the pub area, I found it to be very noisy with one guy blowing away on a Vuvuzela (the infamous South Africa World Cup 2010 horn) at 11.30pm.

Locally for entertainment/eating, I'd recommend the cafe at St Abbs harbour although someone told us that the B&B across the road from the cafe serves lovely food, Churches restaurant in Eyemouth and The Cannon, Castlegate, Berwick Upon Tweed which does the finest fish supper in the world.

In conclusion, fantastic area but average caravan site BUT it would not deter us from returning.

We don't usually go for sites which have bars and restaurants but were recommended to this one.

Very pleased we were - what a lovely site. In a beautiful location and within walking distance of a lovely 'dogs allowed' beach.

The facilities were clean and tidy and the showers large with a separate dressing area. We did try the bar and had a game of bingo, and it was a great atmosphere.

A fantastic site which we'll visit again.

We had a lovely bank holiday weekend at this site. The huge plus for this site is its close proximity to a lovely beach. We spent all day there on bank holiday Monday and it was perfect for young children.

The site itself is well laid out and clean and tidy. The family bathroom is also great for those with little ones. The fish shop was fine as well - great value for the huge portions we got!

On the downside the soft play area looked great for little ones but when we went at 4pm on the Saturday we were told that it opened at 6pm. We struggled to understand the logic that a play area best suited to small children only opened close to their bed time. It's not close to the bar either so we were a bit confused as to why the late opening! We then decided to take two disappointed children to the park but the swing and slide were covered with bird muck so not usable either! In short don't book this site for the children's facilities!

However with a beach nearby it wasn't a big issue for us and the location has enough to offer that we will definitely return here.

Just bought our first touring caravan, so we decided to go to scoutscroft for our first visit. When we arrived the staff were very helpful, we were given our key for the toilets which we had to leave a £10 deposit for.

When we got to our pitch we were close to the toilet block which we found very handy indeed, the toilets were immaculate and stayed clean all day, the showers were nice and big and there was plenty of hot water.

We visited the club house on the Friday evening, the beer was reasonable, there was bingo followed by karaoke and what a good night we had and my 13 year old daughter and her friend enjoyed the games room.
The Saturday night we went for a meal in the restaurant, small menu but food was very nice and was very good value for money. We will be returning very soon.

A lovely quiet site, very clean and tidy. The playground was abit dissapointing only a slide and swing but there was a lovely stream running behind the mallard touring park where we were, with a tarzen swing so the kids loved it, pleased I took the wellies.
Theres a lovely walk to the beach away from the road behind a hedge infact the whole area has lovely walks. St abbs is only 1 mile north of coldingham sands and Eyemouth is 3 miles south,we loved this best you can get free passes for the kids in reception at scoutcroft for the swimming pool in eyemouth and even feed the seals fish from the harbour at the end of the beach.
The views are breath taking in this area.Back on the site theres a small amusment arcade which the kids loved, a resturant, a fish and chip take away and 2 of the 3 bars were open when we went. The toilet block was very clean and there was also a family bathroom. You pay a £10 deposit for the toilet key and if like us your tv ariel cable is'nt quite long enough you can pay a £10 deposit for an ariel cable from your electric box.
We were very impressed and would definetly go again.

New to caravaning(August}. This was only our second outing. This site is excellent. Superb toilet facilities and well laid out. Pub was nice although not dog friendly. Fabulous location for beach and surrounding attractions. Will definitely return at some point in 2008.

Scoutscroft is a great site with good facilities, toilets & showers pristine, 3 bars, chip shop, restaurant, soft play & playground for the kids (last 2 are a bit limited, but at least they've tried). Lovely area & great beach as well. All sounds great & indeed it is, IF you're in a touring caravan. Lovely, flat, level site for tourers. Would have been happy with that. But ( & this is a very big BUT), if like us you're in a Trailer Tent- BEWARE!
We were allocated pitch 13, on the side of a hill, Trailer tent sloped from front to back & left to right. Using all the adjustment of the legs & poles, we managed to get the beds nearly level, but it was like living on a cliff face for a fortnight! This also resulted in insufficient pitch in the roof on the "uphill" side, so when it rained water pooled & we got wet! Spent the next day drying mattresses & bedding! Now, I know Scoutscroft cannae help the weather, but nowhere on their website or brochure does it mention hilly pitches. In fact, the brochure we were sent shows trailer tents in what I now know to be the nice flat Mallard Touring Park. Unfortunately now no tents allowed! Our hill living spoiled what was otherwise a good holiday. Scoutscroft should have a rethink about Trailer Tent pitches. There are a couple of flat pitches at the bottom of the hill, if you're lucky enough to get one of these you'll probably be OK, but do check when booking.

We visited here on the first weekend of June for three nights.
Check in was straight forward and we were given a map pointing out our pitch. On setting up we found the grass area was a bit bumpy and rutted and bare in patches.

Got to mention the Electrics though they kept on tripping looks like they are only 5 Amps. The box was very easy to get into to reset it. Not too safe for any kids, I walked passed one that was left lying open.

There are quite a lot of seasonal tourers here I spoke to two of them and they were here for their fourth season. Must say something that they keep coming back.

The Toilet and showers were in pristine condition and cleaned every morning at around 08:30 I found this a bad time for cleaning as most people wanted to use them at this time I would have thought a little earlier or later would have been nice, but this is only my opinion.

The play area is a bit far from the tourers which means you could not keep an eye on the kids from the tourer. There was also very little in the way of equipment for them to play with.
The Chippy on site We didn't rate it too stodgy/greasy. Most went in the bucket. But others might like it.
Saturday night we went to the Bar and this was very nice and  reasonable with its prices. And the entertainment was good.

There is a lovely beach just five to ten minute walk from the site we didn't find it until around  15:00 on the Sunday and most people were packing up. There is also a beach side Cafe.
Some pictures on my homepage for those that are interested.

There are some good and bad points but overall we liked it and will make a point of returning here in the very near future.
