First I have to say that the site is much nicer than it looks on their web site, the pictures don't do it justice at all.
There are three different areas, a grassy open area with some hardstandings, a large tent field and the area we were in, which had huge grass pitches divided by low shrubs, just enough to be private without being enclosed.
Each pitch had it's own tap and grey waste pipe, it rained quite heavily on a couple of nights but the pitch dried up very well after.
The golf club bar do meals on Fri and Sat and they also do takeaways, I can't say what the food was like as the Saturday we arrived they weren't available as there was a private party on.
We could hear the the people outside the bar and we did wonder if it would go on until late but at eleven on the dot it went quiet and we didn't hear anything else. Goes to show they stick to the no noise ruling.
The toilet block is huge and so are the wet rooms within it which all include toilet and basin. It was all very clean and the showers were always hot though I didn't like the press button arrangement as it didn't stay on long enough each press.
The ground in front of the toilet block got a bit muddy when it rained as did parts of the roadway around the site.
I think a few chippings or something on them would be a big improvement as it would also keep down the dust when dry.
That said it's a nice site and really good value for money.
The site is about a mile from the edge of Abergavenny, then about half a mile into town and is walkable, there is a footpath. We couldn't believe the scale of the market on Tuesday there was everything, possibly one of the best I've seen in a small town.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and if it were nearer to home would probably visit again, I would recommend it, don't let the web site pictures put you off it's much better than it looks.

Wernddu campsite is on part of the golf club. It is adults only site laid out in small areas with plenty of trees giving privacy to the units. A nice quite site with the exception of one side which runs alongside of a B road. This meant noise from about 6 in the morning up until about 10 at night. We were two rows away from the road and could hear it very clearly.
On first look the toilets/showers appeared very nice until you realised they were wet rooms. This gave way to two problems. The first appears when you use the shower, or you go in after someone to use the toilet, it's covered in water! The other problem is when it's pouring with rain people go into the toilets in boots (not unusual in itself), leave mud all over the floor, then you want to use the shower - not nice!
They have a no clothes line policy which, when you are camping in a motorhome, is a bit of a problem because you have to dry wet towels in the van. It would also help if they had a tumble dryer which worked correctly
Nice site, nice location, shame about the facilities.

We would recommend this lovely site. Staff are so helpful and accommodating. Adults only heaven! Good fishing lake. Food in clubhouse very reasonable and plenty. Visited this site for 2 years now and sad to say the toilet block is now looking very dated and needs a bit of an upgrade. Apart from this it is an excellent site and we will be back for more happy days!

We spent 3 days here in Abergavenny for the food festival, Nice campground with a lovely clubhouse at the golf course, We had an evening meal and a breakfast in there. Plenty of hot water in the free showers. Nice walk into Abergavenny but we got taxi back. Very friendly staff. We also had a day out in Caerphilly on the train from Aber. The campsite is adults only.

Just back after the weekend, used it as it's close to Abergavenny, park and ride just down the road for the food festival. Had good contact with the site during booking and after. Good welcome on arrival, all relevant info well presented. Used the club twice, once for food and found it good. Amenities are very good, although as said previously why there is a code to use them is beyond me. It is after all an adults only and not close to any houses. Pitch was large and fully serviced, although the pitch we were on was sloping away slightly from the drain so we went with our waste container. Overall a good site, one which we will return to

Stayed 5 nights leading up to the August Bank holiday weekend.
The camping field was very quiet, for most of our stay there were only another 2 tents in the field. The field was large and very flat - so perfect for tents. There was road noise from the Ross Road throughout the noise - earplugs solved this!
The facilities were great, 6 private shower rooms in the ladies and gents. Ample hot water for showers and washing up. The only point was that the website states there is a plug point for a hair dryer - this has been covered up and no longer in use. As we were away for 2 weeks in total - I was looking forward to being able to dry/straighten my hair. I queried this at reception and was advised I could use the facilities in the ladies changing room in the golf club house. A bit of an inconvenience - but better than nothing.
Great location for exploring the area, the Abergavenny 3 peaks are worth doing. The views from each are breath taking.
My hubby even managed to fit in two rounds of golf too. How he got his clubs in the car with all the camping stuff and the dog beats me ??!
Loved our stay and will definitely return and recommend to friends.

Into school holidays. So this adult only site was a welcome find. Slightly quirky being part of a golf course, but the facilities were excellent. Excellent shower block, with private cubicles of toilet, shower and basin. Pitches level on a tent-only field, and very sheltered while still having the last rays of sun in the evening - some really nice trees and hedging. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good security. Slight noise from B-road, but not a problem overnight.
Rymans the stationers in Abergavenny had a sign in the window (mid-July) 'back to school!'.

This is one of our favourite sites, the facilities are great the toilet block is one of the best I've seen clean, warm and the showers are free. It is an adults only site so perfect if you want a nice quiet escape, the clubhouse is small but great to sit outside on a nice day and just chill, or sit in and play pool. Food is simple but very good and the staff are friendly and very accommodating. There is no shop but Abergavenny is only a mile down the road. Only slight downside it is next to a road but having said that it is a B road and doesn't really have many cars down it at night and didn't effect our stay even though we were very close to it. Thank you Wernddu for another great stay.

Just returned from a fab weekend at Wernddu! Arrived at clubhouse with the sun shining and a lovely friendly welcome from the sisters behind the desk!
We were on the tent field which was vast and really flat! we had it virtually to ourselves and had out pick of where to pitch up.
The facilities were outstanding and the shower block was superb, the cleanest iv seen on any site! Showers and hot water all free! ( I hate those hidden extras!)
The clubhouse had a lovely atmosphere and we were made to feel really welcome our little jack Russell loved the fuss off all the staff and regulars! The other half was pleased with the real ale and bt sports on the tv! and double vodka only £3! Also free wifi in the clubhouse but unfortunately doesn't cover as far as the campsite.
Breakfast is served from 8am and not to be missed! Evening meals weren't being served when we stayed but I believe they start in April.
Abergavenny not far at all and surrounding area is gorgeous with some great walks.
Overall we loved this campsite a fantastic find! Will definitely be returning this summer and will recommend to all our friends!

We've just arrived back from a rather frosty weekend camping at Wernndu. The site was quiet with only 2 tents camping - probably due to freezing temperatures!
However we really enjoyed our 3 nights there. The shower block is excellent - clean, warm (even at 1am in the morning if you need to use the loo) and the (free) showers are lovely and hot as well.
The clubhouse is very cosy in the evening. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Breakfasts are served from 8am - good value and nicely cooked. Not too greasy!
They also have started doing simple pub-style food in the evening (as well as during the daytime) (Thur/Fri/Sat 6pm to 8pm). We can recommend the chilli and the welsh curry. Having eaten out locally on a number of previous occasions, these were some of the nicest meals we've had.
Well behaved dogs are allowed in the clubhouse and our border collie got as friendly a welcome as us.
There are good views of Skirrid from all over the site and clubhouse, and it is convenient as a base for walking both big and little Skirrids.
We'll be back again at the next chance we get.
