We visited this site to celebrate our daughters 7th birthday at longleat safari park.
Its perfectly placed being only 5 miles away from longleat and represents good value as well, £15. 00 per night inc EHU and no extra charge for awning!
The site itself is situated just off a fast road which cars and bikes do seem to speed down but this def calms down at night. There is also a train line close but again trains appeared to stop at night so no prob with noise and sleeping.
There is approx 20 hardstanding spaces set in a sort of circle which all have EHU and then across a small bridge in to a field there is a large area for tents although we couldn't see any EHU here.
Very well maintained site short grass good drainage ( no puddles). Small two swings, play area in middle of site surrounded by silver birch trees, lovely shallow stream which children could play in on warm days.
Facilities appeared ok in the ladies 2 toilets and sinks only one shower according to O/H same in mens but there was a family foom which also had a shower in and toilet. I use my own bathroom in my caravan so cant comment about the showers but I would imagine if the site was full then may be a bit of a wait !
Owners seemed very pleasant and helpful we arrived late (20. 30) and hadn't been to cash point. That wasn't a problem she said pay me tomorrow, just told us our pitch number.
I would highly recommend this site as a good base for visiting longleat, bath, bradford on avon, sailsbury etc as its a lovely site and good value. Asda and sainsburys are very close as is the town of Frome which has the use take aways cash points etc.
The site does not have a web site but there is good views on the map facility on this website of the site and you can judge your self about the road and train line ( which honestly is not a major problem)!

Best thing about this site is that it represents excellent value for money.
It has about hard standing 16 pitches situated in a round and most have electric hook up. The camping area for tents is at the back of the site situated in a lovely large field accessed by crossing the small bridge over the brook. Campers in tents will have in my opinion a better situation than caravans or motor homes.
You will hear some road noise especially in the morning. Campers in tents will most probably hear little or nothing as they are further away from the road. There is a train line further past the road but this noise was not bothersome to us.
The grounds were immaculately maintained. Toilets and shower block was just about functional and showing its age. Showers are those electric ones which do work but take some time (to wash). I would wonder what it is like during a busy period - in my opinion I did not think there was enough WC's and washing facilities especially is you have lots of people camping in the tent field.
As another poster has said there are no pubs or shops walkable. Sainsbury's is about a 7 min drive as is ASDA.
The site is dog friendly.

Loathe to leave a review in case it attracts more people! We thought the site & facilities were excellent value for money.
Well maintained site. Toilet and shower blocks were clean and good and never busy.
Small brook for kids to play in and a couple of swings in the middle of the touring area. A circular path around the tourers suitable for the kids to cycle (as the touring site is small, even when it was full at Easter we knew the kids would be safe).
I thoroughly recommend this pretty site and will definitely return. The only downside is the road/train noise but to be honest you forgot about it within the first half hour.
Well done the owners of this fab site.
Would also recommend the Chinese takeaway in Frome which delivers to the site - a great lazy alternative to the BBQ!

Negative Points;
None really. Busy train line in the distance as previously mentioned, but caused us no concerns. Toolet/shower block can be busy at times.
The family/disabled one has plenty of room, but the Male/Female one is a little too cramped. But very clean with plenty of hot water. No pub within staggering distance! :-)
Frome is a 10-15min drive away with every thing you need really, shops and take-aways.
Positive Points;
This site is ideal for a stay if visiting Longleat Safari Park (over two days is best to fit it all in and enjoy your time).
The site was spotless and we were made to feel very welcome. (I realised we had stayed there about 10 years ago and it is still at a high standard.
I have stayed here with my children in the past and there is a little park on site and a lovely shallow stream to play in between the caravan / campervan field and the tent field. Nice on a hot day!
The weather was fantastic and we had a lovely time, thank you so much.
Hint: If camping over the wooden bridge, pitch the tent at the far end. You get the sun right until sunset at this location and you can hear the Lions and sealions at night too!

We booked this site due to its proximity to the holiday visits we wanted to make, Longleat, Wookey Hole, Cheddar, Bath etc which is it well placed for.
There are plenty of supermarkets close by, you just need to have a little drive around. Loads of take aways etc in Frome by car.
When we arrived we had to walk up to the owners house to book in and pay. We were told which pitch to use and that was the last I saw of the owner for the full week we were there!
The site for tourers is just a nice size with enough space to give some privacy but close enough to encourage friendliness, which seemed abundant. To be fair the charges are very reasonable @ £15/night all in but this is reflected in the facilities. One shower for male, one for female and one for 'family' is woefully inadequate for the number of people who want to use them and they are very small, cramped and of poor condition. This site would be greatly enhanced by the owner developing a better shower block and increasing the charges slightly to reflect their investment.
The pitch we had backed onto the stream which kept my kids and most others busy after returning from days out. The playpark is 2 swings! There is no shop on site.
If you want to eat out go to the pub down the road (sorry I can't remember its name). Turn right out of the site towards Frome, 2nd exit at the Roundabout towards Frome and the pub is on your right. The food is fairly priced, good portions and excellent quality.
Overall we had a great week and think the site itself is lovely but let down by the shower block.

Our group of four adults and two children, (4 and 7) stayed on the Site for a week starting on the Bank Holiday Friday. The site never felt overcrowded, loads of room for campers on a sunny, mostly flat field surrounded by hedges, trees and a stream, We had glorious weather throughout the week so can't comment on how well it drains when wet.
The toilet block was clean and serviced throughout the day, with a live in helpful owner and a site manager camping opposite the block problems were quickly rectified, no major queues formed for the facilities, we tended to fill a trug with hot water and do the dished back at our camp, my gripe is that as a forgetful person my toothpaste shampoo and shower gel were either stolen or binned within 8 hours of leaving them, if the latter why not leave them on a shelf for recovery later?
The first night, we all awoke with a start as a good train chundered through, after that, the noise of trains and road merged into a background hum, the road is fast and has no pavement, so a problem if you want to walk to the two nearby and very overgrown footpaths, with three dogs and two small children. As there is no dog field to exercise the dogs.
The stream is shallow and fast flowing, The two children played in and around it constantly, after boundaries were set to keep them away from the steeper banks, there is a swing set in the caravan park and a basketball hoop in the front field, which a full sized football game can be played on.
The owners have planted fruit trees along the bank and have an out of bounds orchard, from where they left free boxes of windfalls for us, the bushes were filled with sloes and blackberries, which kept the children busy picking them.
The site is perfectly placed as a jumping off point for many local attractions, the Village of Nunney is well worth a visit for its fairy tale moated castle, Cley hill and Longlete, are a few miles away, and Glastonbury is 20 miles. Frome has a wide selection of shops, including a Large Asda and Sainsbury's.
At £10.00 per night per tent,(no additional charges for dogs, awnings etc.) this site represents great value for larger families camping in big tents.

This is our second visit to this site in the last couple of years and we were very pleased to be back again. The motorhome pitches are generous and the setting is lovely. The site is very well maintained and the staff really helpful.
This is a small, friendly, family site rather than a large, commercial site. The front pitches each have electric hookup but it didn't look like the camping field had any.
We had only booked for a couple of nights but managed to rearrange things to stay another night as it was so relaxing. Last time we had visited Longleat as it is just down the road but this time we visited Wookey Hole which is about half an hours drive away.
The shower and toilet facilities are perfectly adequate and we found no trouble with queues as we avoided peak times. They were always clean and mops are left for people to help clean as they go along if they want to. As we were in the motorhome part of the site the toilets were very handy but they are a bit further away if you are in the camping field.
The play facilities were great for our children aged 9 and 12 as there were two swings in the middle of the motorhome part of the site and there was a whole field with a basketball hoop to run around in and where you can also fly a kite. The stream which ran through the site was great to play in and get mucky. Although the site was not overly busy there were other children to play with and explore the site.
We did notice the noise from the trains as my son loves trains and pointed this out to us, but it was not a problem and certainly didn't keep us awake.
The site is very reasonably priced and very good value for money. It is certainly one of our favourites.
We would not hesitate to go back to this site again in the future as it is lovely and there is still a lot to explore in the area.

We have visited this site on several occasions, and really like it. We have stayed on both electric and non-electric.
The children have always enjoyed it and the stream. Toilets and showers always clean and so is the washing up area. The only down side is the train, but you soon get use to it.
Owners are very friendly and helpful, lots of information given if needed and plenty of leaflets for surrounding attractions such as Longleat.
Would definitely go back and stay again, excellent value for money, and its flat.

The owner and staff went way beyond the call of duty for me yesterday/today. Many thanks
I would love to revisit this site and definitely recommend it for the following reasons: Beautifully taken care of, other users lovely and quiet, and polite. Lovely hot shower, hair dryer provided which is very handly though I didn't need to use it on this occasion. Lots of space. Ground lovely and smooth for camping.
All facilities excellent. Must have some form of transport though as it is around 3 miles out of Frome and the road is not pedestrian friendly!

Great site and very pleasant. Clean area and the showers were clean too. Had trouble knocking in our tent pegs at the top of the field.Must have been tree roots under the ground and had to keep moving our tent to peg it. Only drawback for me is that the toilet/shower block is located where the caravans are and as campers, it would be better not have to treck all down the field in the middle of the night. But a great place and would camp there again
