Stopped there 2 nights, along with friends one family in a tent like us,the other in a trailer tent.We paid £44 for 2 nights. Nice site its definitely got the best shower block and toilets that we have seen on the camp-sites we have visited, the pitches are all level, there are plenty of drinking water taps situated about. The shop is a little basic but it has the basics ie bread milk pop news papers sweets.
We stopped on the rally field which is at the top of the site, which is in my opinion not as nice as the rest of the site, and you have to walk through a short cut in some trees to get to the toilets and shower blocks, which at night is very dark and my daughter and wife felt a bit weary using the path with it being so dark. It could do with a light there really. The rest of the site looks very nice where the statics are and the touring carvans and the lower touring area.
The site owner seems pretty on the ball on the security side, and did, to us come across as being a bit unfriendly,he can been seen driving around in his pick up quite a bit,and is quick to tell people if there music is too loud even during the day [which I like, cant stand music blasting out all the time] the site has a policy that no noise after 11 pm and at 11pm the owner patrols round the site in his pick up to make sure there is no noise [which again I think is a good thing].As opposed to blue dolphin where we went earlier in the year which was terrible with kids running round screaming till 4am.
In all I think the site a nice quiet site, well maintained very clean, excellent showers and toilet block. It has a nice play area for kids. And is directly opposite flamingo land which we went to both days only a 5 minute walk away

Been here for the second time and can honestly say that I have no complaints. Everything was very clean especially the shower block. The owner is always on the go maintaining the whole site. We were guilty of playing music quite loudly after a few alcoholic beverages and he promptly drove round to make us turn it down but don't let him put you off. I would definitely go back as I know he would nip yobbish behaviour in the bud

Well what can I say,
The campsite was brilliant couldn't fault it at all, facilities were spotless and very modern. The location of our pitch was brilliant also away from noise not that we hardly heard any. The location of the site isn't brilliant unless your going to flamingo land then its ideal as its about a minute out of the main entrance, other than that there's nothing else, malton and pickering are a good 7 miles and if your not a good walker then I'd stay clear.
The main gripe about our stay was the pub attached to the campsite at the end of the road. Theres a big banner outside saying 'UNDER NEW MANAGMENT' so we expected a good place to have a pint and some grub. How I was wrong.
All in all a good wknd as the campsite was excellent and didn't mind a gazebo and us lot having one or two beers. But I'd certainly book a taxi to pickering or malton rather than a visit to the pub on site.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay on this site and I will be returning to it again in a few weeks!
Site is in walking distance of Flamingo Land (5 mins walk!)
Owner was friendly and helpful, he took us to our pitch which had plenty of space and electric hook up(never tripped out). Toilets were very clean/smelt nice, plenty of hot water in the showers, good washing up area, bins emptied at least twice a day, excellent play area for kids, small shop on site for basics.
We think its a little gem!

This is a great site if your just starting out camping great location, electric hook up or without available. Great pub almost on the site which serves really fantastic home cooked food like mum used to make.
We really enjoyed this site plenty going on around local area at this time of year ie the steam rally 4 day event which is superb for the whole family.
Site fees are good perhaps the staff could be a tad more cheerful. Shower blocks are clean could be warmer. We would def stay again if we were on a short stay before moving further south.

We spent a week at the site as we wanted to visit Flamingo Land and the surrounding area. There were three in our one tent which cost £70 from Sunday to Friday, I though this was very good as we had electric hookup as well. This was our first go at camping and we were very pleased with the site, it was very clean and the toilet block/showers were very clean with good hot water at all times. The kids play ground was good and our son made Friends easily. Flamingo Land is just across the road and the local pub, the Ashfield Manor hotel is opposite its entrance (good pint). The nearest shops when the site shop is closed is in Pickering which is just up the road (two miles). Very peaceful at night even so close to the Theme park. The small lake near our tent was good as it was good to see the bird life on it, there was also fishing going on but I don't know if they caught anything. I would go back to this site again as we found it friendly.

Just returned from Ashfield, and have had a really good time. I have read comments on this site, where it is said the owner is unfriendly, not so, he was a nice bloke. The toilet and shower facilities were first class. The pub on site is actually on the site if you walk between the statics, kids are allowed in till last orders, and it is a friendly pub,Food is good and fairly reasonably priced.
Directly over the road is Flamingo Land, but I did not experience any excessive noise, cost for pitch was also reasonable £56.00 for 4 nights with hookup and awning. There was a party of 21 of us, plus 11 friends visiting for the day on Sunday, we will all return, obviously this is my perspective of the site, but 20 people also agreed with me, I can`t understand the negative reports.

We have stayed here now twice and find the campsite very clean and tidy, several times a dog the bins are emptied. We found the showers and toilets to be clean and more than adequate. We hardly saw the children because they enjoyed the playground so much. There is a very large field next to the campsite used as a dog walk. Very reasonable rates, we paid £15 a night over Easter for 2 adults, 2 children and the dog and that included electric hook up, all in all a very good weekend.

!BAD NEWS! Arrived at the site on Friday morning about 11. No-one around it seemed at first but upon entering the shop/ reception there was a young girl hiding in the corner ready to take money for the plot. Although we booked only 4 weeks before the bank holiday they said they would have room, that they did but didn't have correct booking details. The cost was reasonable though at £13 per night. Sadly caravan plots were not hard-standing but the ground was reasonably well drained. The toilet block was not in the best of shape and could have done with regular cleaning as children seem to use it as a play area bringing in mud and stuff. The showers ran cold, then hot, then somewhere in-between but were consistently wet. Never use the bottom on the three showers in the gents as it drains the other two above it and gets blocked so you end up paddling in other peoples shower water, soap scum and pubic hair. OK a bit graphic I admit but sadly all true. Apart from going across the way to flamingo land, the kids on site didn't seem to have much to do and with our changeable climate it is essential to the little darlings occupied. The little playground cannot cater for the potential volume of kids so they end up riding their bikes and other toys around the site and running over your hookup cables, knocking over the dustbins and other playful things. Didn't seem much space for football or cricket. No pub / restaurant. On site shop a bit too basic so off to the nearest shop in Malton. Two days into visit and there's thick black toxic smoke billowing all through the site and filling up the caravans and tents, so just the place to go if you want an asthma attack. The site owner had lit the fire on the top yard. Explosions coming from the fire, aerosol shaped projectiles, and the lack of visibility due to thick black smoke prompted me to complain in a calm and matter of fact manner. The guy just said "OK I'll put the f*@king thing out". He did eventually "put the f*@king thing out" and mother nature gave her helping hand with a good old downpour. The smell of burning lingers in my van even now so out with the good old febreeze! Don't recommend this site at the moment, staff not too pleasant, site not that well maintained. It looks like the site is still a work in progress and in all honesty with a bit of effort towards looking after the people as much as the site itself it could be a really nice place to stay.

Just a short review to add that the website must now have been updated as the site fees charged were exactly as stated on there. We pitched our campervan on the tent field as we did not require electric hook-up and had no problem from the playground, which I found to be an excellent area for children of all ages. The girl in reception did try to charge me for an electric pitch as I was in a van, but I told her the owner had quoted me the non-electric fee over the phone and she was OK with that. The shower cubicles were the largest I have seen on a campsite, big enough to take a few children in with you. Flamingoland is almost just across the road from the campsite, which is why we were there. Great not to have to get in a car and drive after a hot sunny day in a theme park. We could here the noise from the themepark and its evening entertainment from our pitch, but this did not go on too late. Would use this campsite again when visiting Flamingoland.
